Alarming News: Habanos could downsize some markets by 50% this Year!

- There's been 3 recent articles stating rumours that Habanos was considering reducing their allocation by up to 50% to certain markets. It all started by an article from cigar.ch. (www.cigar.ch/t...) following the letter sent by Intertabak to its clients at the beginning of April this year stating that they had been informed by Habanos that they would receive less cigars than in 2023. The newspaper realised that Habanos could be considering allocating substantially less cigars to the distributors they did not fully owned. Another article (www.cigars-con...) from cigar-connect belonging to "L'amateur de Cigar" the renowned and respected French magazine, (its Editor in Chief was elected Hombre Habano this year in Cuba) confirmed that the situation was indeed alarming to the cigar community as it leart from its sources that Habanos was considering reducing its allocations of cigars to Intertabak, Fifth Avenue, Hunters and Frankau, Phoenicia and Pacific Cigars, distributors that they do not fully own. After the price hike of 2022 it is definitely a shocking news which will reshuffle the world of Habanos. It is not sure where the cigars will go but people are already speculating.
If you have any question don't hesitate to ask.
Never a boring day in the world of Habanos
You said it! It keeps me busy!
One last attempt from Habanos. The Demand is low, prices are extremely high, and the people direction for the new world cigars . the Price collapse is coming
Yeah I stopped buying cuban cigars as I found the higher prices didnt equate to their diminishing quality of poorly aged tobacco and burn issues. I've transitioned myself in the last few years to new worlds which I am more than happy with and smoke well for a fraction of the cost of cuban cigars.
@@sholomhoffman True . I love Trinidad cigar. It is too expensive now . I started discovering other brands. I loved opus X cigar . It has great taste. I believe other countries will take advantage to produce better cigars with better marketing.
@lenso010 yep same I enjoy brands like Arturo Fuente, Davidoff, Padron, My Father's, JC Newman, and a ton of other new worlds.
@lenso010 my go to cuban was Montecristo the Edmundo series but stopped buying them as the new ones being produced are not great, one can tell tobacco needs a lot of aging and fermenting. And the increase in price is ridiculous, couldn't justify it. And i don't want to buy a product too where I have to age for years to enjoy. At the prices they are now charging, I expect a top quality product from the get-go
@@sholomhoffman I tried david off but its taste is not close to cuban. Any recommendation?
I am a Polish citizen. Such a Cohiba Siglo VI costs three to five times more expensive than before the increases by Habanos. For me this is sick and Cohiba was considered a luxury product and now it is an unavailable product.

Thank you Laurent. Always enjoy your content and thoughts.
My pleasure!
Thank you so much for your willingness to share your wealth of Habanos knowledge. Always learning something new watching your videos. Keep up the awesome work.
Thank you Sir!
It doesn't have to affect retailers as bad as everyone is saying. Unless the retailer is in the market to "Habanos only" smokers, it could easily be an opportunity by reforming business to a broader spectrum of customer. For everyone, unfortunately Habanos are a Cuban government product and it'll always have a stranglehold on the production and distribution.
This is sort of understandable, if not very good business in the long term. Happily, I buy my Cubans in Belgium, which you say should be unaffected. The complete lack of predictability of Habanos is part of its allure, I guess. But I do feel bad for those retailers being affected by this move.
Not sure if it's the same everywhere but the CDH store in Antwerp has a 2cigar limit on each type of cigar, you can't even finish a box if there are 3 left, only 2 pp per box
@@bobsalad8692 Wow! I did not have that problem in Bruges... Missault and Jerry's Cigar Lounge. Both are authorised retailers so I am 100% sure they are legitimate. Their Cuban stock was patchy, but between the two, I got mostly what I wanted. Nice folks too, they were very helpful.
Shocking news, more changes coming. Great information as always HabanosNews.
Thank you your highness!
Not a bad idea if they can focus on improving quality. It's better to make a few great pieces than flood thr market with junk
Absolutely agree! Quality over quantity is preferred.
Luckily there are amazing cigars outside of Cuba
none as good as cubans but good enought

Not sure if this is going to impact Andorra? Are you attending the Nuit de L’Amateur in Paris in September - I felt this year maybe a little special with the awarding of mujer of the year. Thanks for the excellent content.
Yes I am!
@@habanonews Excellent - I am attending with my wife this year. Hope to meet you in person.
Thanks for the news
I could care less. My father Le bijou 1922 is as good as it gets for $11.99. Enough said.
Distribution is the largest cost/profit area in any industry, it’s part of the deal. It happens with everything from cocaine to avocados.
At the end of the game.. this will kind of similar to LVMH game, push the cigar to high end consumer only..
I totally agree with you. Push it as much as you can.
is the idea
The workers in the fields and in the factories are growing older, the younger generations that would replace them are leaving the country. It's only a matter of time until the Cuban cigar industry completely collapses due to the labour crisis.
"Two hundred pairs of hands"
That's a good point. I was told by Cuban emigres, working at a well respected cigar retailer in London, that the wealth of Cuba is in the hands of three families. They couldnt care less about Cubans or the cigar industry. Very sad state of affairs. Communism always ends up being the same as robber baron capitalism.
that´s what is happening right now
Very good information. Thank you and please tell me how many times did you light your cigar in this video 😂❤
Keep it up
I cannot do 2 things at the same time. If I did I would be a lady.
@@habanonews ❤️🤣
Great video, please keep putting out English content. A few videos you have that I couldn't enjoy because I don't speak the language.
All my videos are in English!
Good decision by Habanos, Cuba needs & deserves more that extra cash than all those greedy distributors
Habanos are slowly self destructing. Very sad. At the end, this will only mean less cigars will be sold. They will then do other weird stuff maximize profit but again only short term. The long term is everytime less cigars sold.
Seems like where i buy is not affected by this directly but that is just a matter off time.
looking to be only high end item
@@dombadger8658 unavailable high end items are useless.
Volkswagen makes 3 times the profit ferrari does. The more they act like this the less will be sold until habonos is game over.
They are now run on short term to maximize profit so they can fill their pockets. They dont care anymore if in 5 -10 years there are no cuban cigars anymore. They want to fill there pockets as much as they can before its over. Cuba is being deserted, its all a mess.
New friends may be poems, but old friends are alphabets. Don't forget the alphabets, because you'll need them to read the poems.
-William Shakespeare
It will be easier for H&F and the Villinger family to distribute other cigars than for Habanos to have such respected, professional, trustworthy and sustainable new distribution partners. New records at the last couple humidor auctions at the festival? Who again won the last couple Cohiba humidors? Who was the second bidder? We love Habanos, but we not stupid and blind
I live in Spain, but the situation of habanos is not better than in any other european country. as we have in Sapin plenty of Tabak-shops , there for the amount of cigars is spreaed to very many. Luckily i live only 3 hours awy from Andorra and have there quite good elections of boxes to choose from, but it is as well allways a lottery. and each box is compared to spain more or less 100 euros cheaper than in spain.
A big part of the Spanish Cuban cigars end-up in China. It is a well known fact.
puedes conseguir mejores precios si encuentras otros sitios donde buscar
The Cuban tobacco business is in serious trouble.
I'm only worried that because of this, the off cuba cigars makers will raise their prices. I'm not a cuban cigar fan.
Decrease in supply will inevitably mean price increases are on the way.
New worlds will eat their lunch as a result.
What cigar you were smoking at this video?
Picadores No.1
I sent my friend to buy cuban cigar in Cuba . It was too expensive. It was almost same price with duty free store in airport. He didn't buy it.
All prices around the world are about the same with the exception of the UK where they are historically higher
It’s so scary that you might have to smoke new world cigars 😂
I am not ready yet indeed!
they cannot provide ciagrs in quantity since the plandemic. not really getting better. and they hustle for the chines high end price market. they can roll out enough expensive high pried cigars but the standart lines are neglected. and i consider the high priced cigars not that worthwhile. by just putting out nice and fancy boxes boxes , a box may add up 1 usd in totall for a stick, and then selling the sick for over 75 usd is a nice cut. I prefer any day a ryj cazadores that is aged well. The new world cigars arre getting every year better and better and the people Habanos will loose will not come back lightly. habanos is actually looking for short money squeeze out but not looking into a solid continous move.
No such thing as “plandemic” that is propaganda nonsense. Nicaragua cigars have been superior to Habanos for many years now. Where have you been?
RJ Cazadores is a great cigar when aged!
This will be bad for habanos remember
We shall know soon indeed!
Cuban cigars are over rated, and over priced, no thank you Cuba, nicaraguan, Dominican and Honduran cigars doing great job in flavor and price
no compare between ...cuba is the diamond of the crown the real and only HABANOS the rest are simple stogies and wannabe
Yes they are horrible. $100 for a cigar please
Just smoke the cigar wilyou
I struggle to do 2 things at the same time!
@@habanonews ..why lighting the cigar ?
All Cuban cigars are overrated 😂😂 there is an entire world of producers it’s over it’s been over
Time will tell. We do not know how the market will react!
cuban cigars are the one and only diamond of the crown.....HABANOS is only from havana, the rest could be "good" but not BEST, simple stogies wannabe
