"Tobacco should not be indulged in, unless it is a cigar", what a good way to communicate your love of cigar!
Cigars are splendid aren't they!?
Edward is a great Gentleman of the old school. The great host. I used to go visit him at least once a week back in the mid 1980’s. Used to go across the street and have an espresso with my Havana Montecristo next to Edward’s superb vintage Mercedes convertible where he used to park. Decades later I would return to him with my son and he actually remembered me. Used to smoke the Havana Davidoff’s back in the day when they still made them. Brilliant shop, Brilliant Gentleman.
I had that pleasure myself. I patronized Zino Davidov's shop in Geneve and a new shop they opened in Jeddah. I'm grateful to have experienced the classic Havana-grown tobacco and Cuban craftsmanship. I also purchased Zino Davidov's book of the Cigar. I learned so much from his experience that is still relevant today.
I first saw Eddie on Kirby Alison’s channel. He is one of those gents that I could listen to for hours. He comes across as a delight to be around
A guy from my cigar group met Kirby and he's exactly as he seems in his videos. A complete gentleman. Im positive both Edward and Eddie would be exactly the same
I remember around 30 years ago, working in the humidor of another tobacconist on another corner of Jermyn St. Every morning I'd walk past Edward & Eddie sitting outside Francos having a smoke. I'd go and see Bruno for tea & toast, and always get a 'good morning' was a great time to be the 3rd Edward in Jermyn street.
Eddie opened the door for me as I left his shop. Never felt so special!
Edward is a Mans Man! A true Gentleman at the highest of levels! Genuinely himself, a humble great person!
Eddie is invariably charming and delightful. Just a splendid individual.
Listening to Eddie is always a pleasure 💨 🤝
Eddie and Edward seem like down to earth great guys and true gentleman. Always so enjoyable watching their videos.
Will watch this whilst enjoying a Davidoff No2. Excellent
Eddie is just pure class! I met him about 2 months ago and he is even better in person! Much love from Norway 🍸
the best cigar shop in the world.Eddie and Edward are such fine gentlemen and welcome you with open arms.
Oh the unending joys of Jermyn Street!
A haircut, a new shirt and tie, some pipe tobacco and finally a look around Davidoff on the corner.
I wasn't averse to a tin of the latest blend of pipe tobacco from Dunhill as I had yet to graduate to cigar chicanery.
My last visit to this wonderful emporium was ~ forgive me ~ in a desperate search for my favourite cigarettes which had just stopped being imported from Denmark. Of course Davidoff obliged but I was told that I had just been sold the last packet of Prince in the country.
One more memory evoked by your latest production:
There is no better cigar to smoke than one from here on one's boat on the Thames on a balmy summer eve, given by one's barrister neighbour on the occasion of the birth of his first daughter!
Epic
Makes my day every time The Rake posts a video.
I don’t smoke, but some of my fondest family memories revolve around tobacco. I dearly miss buying custom medley boxes of cigars and pipe tobacco for my father. He anxiously waited for his gift every time I booked my tickets to go home.
One of the most incredible videos I’ve watched on RUclips so far, thank you very much 🙏🙂
WAS WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO!!! Gotta love The Sahakians
Now that‘s a proper video to make. Feels so good to be back in London😏
What an absolute joy that was.
I am definitely going to meet Eddie … he is such a gentleman! I’m a fan of his.
7:20 "Quite long, about six inches." I'll be using that phrase.
As always superb presentation, I am stat here after a wonderful Sunday lunch with my own Romeo Y Julieta No2 at hand puffing away. Dominique Pierre-Nina.
Although im intermediate in terms of cigar knowledge, im always learning from gentlemen such as Eddie.
my mouth is watering ,i buy from Deansgate Manchester but a trip to Davidoff London i must do
That thumbnail is amazing❤😍
Look carefully, while eddie answer he never looks at the camera, impeccable manners and respect to the host..
Wow. Following this series religiously. More please. Amazing work!
Amazing video.Thank you
Great interview
Wonderful episode
Another enjoyable and interesting video. Thank you.
All your videos are amazing. Congratulations!!!!!!
Such a charming video.
Another Excellent video!
Can't wait to watch!
Smoking a (Dominican) Cohiba Red Dot while watching these old school gentleman, and loving it.
Brilliant sir!
A good cigar is priceless Long time ago I smoked it and on the other hand a Good good Brandy
very useful as always
A highly enjoyable video Tom and many thanks to Eddie, I could listen to him and his father for decades on the subject of cigars. Talking of which, more similar content please. Many thanks and best wishes.
I've been smoking Dona Flor Puro Mata Fina Robusto from Brazil for 20 years. They're impossible to get hold of in London, so I stock up in the duty free at Galeão Airport a couple of times a year. Am I a Philistine? I don't know but I love them.
lol so true, I had no cutter last night I used my teeth and enjoyed my cigar 👌🏽
awesome camera work. cohibas in the front baller
Great advice from Eddie Jr.!
One of my bosses, a newer boss, who does not smoke, utterly loves Davidoff's wonderful service and advice for "booze" and "ciggies" which he shares liberally with his customer base and colleagues.
I've given up smoking, tried one or two good(ish) cigars in my time, one or two were, I thought, exceptional. Very enjoyable instalment.
Tom is an absolute unit! I doubt there were any cobwebs in the shop after he left! 😅
I don’t just love cigar’s but I also love the process of buying a cigar when the employees actually give a damn, he remembers who I am eberytime I go in and choose my cigars and he has a literall profile of the cigars I’ve bought, enjoyed, or didn’t enjoy they weren’t open last week they were getting the shop done up and they were taking orders at the door and he knew exactly what cigar to pick up for me it’s just great customer service
Mr Chamberlin,
Please feel safe in your using the word New World cigars in describing all other cigars other than Cubans as this is accepted by most enthusiast. There is a Very boisterous and dare I say arrogant person in Aaron Sigmond who has shunned those who use the word New World. You are a true gentleman and let not those who are the fewest and loudest have an effect on you. Thank You for the wonderful content!
I would love to spend some quality time experiencing and enjoying some fine cigars. My knowledge is most limited, at least for now….!
Most of what I see coming out of the UK has led me to believe a gentlemens London is hardly possible under present conditions. The West has fallen.
Are you able to do a tour of a council estate in Hackney? If youre doing a real deep dive into london and its people. Thanks.
Some good ASMR from Eddie
What will become of the shop once the smoke free generation bill is applicable across the adult population?
Unfortunately, modern London is also overrun by urban brigands, bandits and savages.
One must take great care when walking these soiled streets. Especially after nightfall. For this is when the hordes of marauders awaken from their drug-induced slumber, with an insatiable appetite for wanton destruction, chaos and outright skullduggery.
Eddie! You handsome, young, smoothie you. I love you X
Those Cohiba Behike from 2005? sound very nice. Any idea on the price?
5 for a pound in Home Bargains.
Too many tourist rip off shops in most of Europe. Charging over 20 euros for fakes. You might not be able to distinguish the contraband from the real thing until you light it.
I do wear my watch on the right arm and I am always curious to know why other men's do the same. My reason was that being left-handed, when at primary school (30 years ago!), it made it much easier for me to write with pen and paper and never changed since. What's yours Eddie?
For what it’s worth I too wear my watch on my right arm because of being left handed
@@rogueangel72 my actual reason is that it used to make it easier for me to write with pen and paper and not (just) because I'm left-handed. I appreciate it's a detail but that's why I'm curios about other men's reason to do that.
I am a lefty as well but the watch is still on the left hand. Quite odd. I do precision shooting with my right hand and eye as well as bowling with my right. It’s a cringe factor with dining around Arabs, for them not me.
Does anyone know what watch Eddie is wearing? Looks amazing
Looks like a simple Rolex Datejust on jubilee bracelet
Right ! It is !
Simple and eficiant !
Is this the British Kirby Allison?
Excellent work Tom, you and Eddie are two perfect gentlemen. The information was put across in a really easy to understand way. Seeing all those cigar boxes brought back memories of my childhood, visiting my father's place of work, an wholesale tobacconists where he was a rep. He used to give me empty cigar boxes to keep things in, the smell was amazing.
What selection does the shop have, what differentiates it from other shops like it, what can you highlight. You missed all of those and just tried to teach me about cigars. Which I drew nothing from whatsoever.
The only ritual that should be enforced though is when you cut a cigar, at least try to cut it above the cap line 😅
How did they get hold of cuban cigars while cuba was under sanctions?
This in Britain, not the US.
A lot of raspberries
Toward the end, I was dreading the too frequent ‘asides’/interruptions by the host. Interrupted the flow too much
I thoroughly enjoy this series but would have preferred this episode to focus more on Eddie’s words and less on the presenter. Let Eddie explain fermentation, humidity, etc. as he is the expert.
Cigars are bad for you
Slight insufferable listening to Tom waffle about cigars in the company of a genuine expert - of course Eddie is too much of a gentleman to but in
Tom is nauseating. Most people laugh behind his back, some to his face.
*butt.
I am a huge fan of A.J. Fernandez blends. My supplier of Cuban cigars was devastated by the supply issues of the past 3-4 years. Importing Cubans has become too expensive and too complicated, especially since Dominican and Nicaraguan cigars are the equal of Cubans in flavor and far superior in quality of workmanship. However, as was said, the most important, maybe only important, factor is to smoke that which gives you pleasure.
Smoke is no good for nobody
Hard watching this without Kirby 😅
Hello Mr Chamberlin could we meet for lunch for a get together know each other chaps that?
The sweater (or jumper) under a double breasted coat, it’s not working
Great video. Armenian-Iranian background.....business is in the blood.
I went to the Davidoff store last year and I’m sorry to say I wasn’t impressed. The store was a bit grubby and an employee followed me around as if she were attached to my hip almost like they were afraid I was going to shoplift (I was VERY well dressed). There’s another cigar shop about two blocks away that is much nicer. 🤷🏼♂️
as someone's who's worked in retail I've always found it best to not speak to customers unless they speak first, some people prefer to shop around without having to make small talk, however if they ask questions I'll have a good friendly chat with them
@@munkbok This wasn’t even small talk, she just silently followed me (after an initial greeting) one step behind and slightly to the left to me. Then, when I went into the humidor, she stood there staring, eyes boring into my soul as I tried to take my time to make a selection. Just odd.
@@SR-ob3wnI had the same experience and complained to Eddie after leaving a Google review, he said he would speak with the staff member, clearly he hasn’t or she has failed to listen. You do not get that at Cgars or JJ Fox
@@alastairkissoon1921 JJ fox is the other cigar shop I referenced in my comment, just couldn’t think of the name. They were lovely people, beautiful shop. I was pretty excited to visit Davidoff based on their excellent YT videos, oh well.
The reason why an employee follows you around is to be there to help you at any moment and not because they are afraid you will shoplift. This is standard practice at all retail shops that offer premium service. In a normal store you will have to find someone to ask for help, in a shop that cares about customer service the employee will ask you if you need help and if you say no he will continue doing something else and in the best of shops an employee will always make sure to be there to help you with any questions or help you might require. Great customer service might feel weird only to people that have never experienced it and it is definitely true for brits and Americans that have some of the worst customer service around. I always find it interesting that people that have never had good customer service might feel its too intrusive. Being around hotels in Cyprus frequented by some of the worlds richest men, i ve learned that there is not a single moment where a rich person isnt followed by a staff member ready to help them with anything they might need. If that would happen to a person that is not used to such treatment, he would assume that the person following them might have some nefarious things in mind but for the rich people that are used to this, they know that this is just good customer service. In Greece at some of the best clubs each vip table has its own server that serves 1 table the entire night. That person is there to call you a cab when the night is over or go to the shop to get cigarettes for you if needed , and he is there pouring drinks for you the whole night.
This channel gives me a Constance vibe from the influencer Gstaad Guy
Edward Sahakian is a true gentleman. Yet, I think that Windsor tie knot should be banned.
Why?
You know nothing about tie knots. The Windsor is the king of knots.
@@RiminiVirage Let's talk it at Pitti Uomo?
Nothing is more ludicrous than cigars. Just one more path to pretentiousness. But then pretentiousness is all the British have left.
And yet, here you are….🙄
I love cigars , the aroma is heavenly. Yesterday i visited the Casa del Habano in Nicosia Cyprus to watch the last game of the EPL. I smoked a fantastic Ramon Allones Superiores and drunk a very nice Iced Americano and it was the most relaxed experience. The definition of a lazy Sunday. That's not pretentious, thats relaxing. Im sure some people would have preferred to be at a pub, drinking shitty beer and smoking cigarettes and that to me sounds terrible.
Excellent 👍 thanks
