I love the discussion of the mods - the whys and hows - a timelapse would be cool but I thought this video was great just the way it is. I love the SKX with PADI dial and MM300 hands - very cool. Thank you for another excellent video Rob :)
Really like the oem the bezel. It looks like a cross between the Seiko and Submariner type. It looks like something that Seiko would have done. I might to get invest in som tools. Thanks for sharing these projects with us. You do great work. Cheers.
I like the _edge_ of Seiko's mini turtle bezel, because of the scallops similar (I think) to the one you preferred here and also because of its brushed finish. Not a fan of the SKX's super shiny and "chrome-y" bezel, even though I _do_ prefer how squared up it is relative to so many other diver bezels. In other words I like how the SKX' bezel insert is perpendicular to the dial, unlike a sloped Orient's for example. Another of the SKX's secret weapons is the squarish font used on the bezel insert, something the mini turtle and so many other divers "get wrong." I think I may have too much free time.
The dust problem makes me wonder: should all watchmakers nowadays work in a closed room with an air purifier/filter? I myself have bought one with a HEPA filter from Costco for allergies...
Fantastic, great stuff. If you don't mind my opinion, I think you be able to do a great voice over on a mod video. I totally get not being able to talk whilst intensely concentrating on the mod in hand.
yes, dust specs and/or smudges on the dial inside and dial itself.. it can be a bitch to get as perfectly clean as possible. Have to always check in good lighting and against various background to catch as much as possible. I was very reluctant to use a paring knife, but that really does seem to work the best to slip inbetween the bezel and case to get the initial leverage to pop the bezel off.. either all by the paring knife or work it enough to get the thicker case back knife we all know come with a lot of watch tool kits to do the final pop off. As with video recording while you're in the process of delicate or otherwise challenging watch work.. i get it. I had left those out a few times in my own videos, but i decided to try and record it all more recently. Hard to talk while doing it and I do lose my chain of speech or I'll repeat myself a lot or just make a lot of noices, lol. but, i figure it could be useful to whoever wants to watch the procedure so they can get some reference on what to expect and maybe how to handle the harder or tricky stuff. Look forward to seeing the final build.. maybe you posted it already recently on the groups?
Hey Rob, how much would you charge if I sent you a watch or 2 to get dust out from under the crystal, top of the dial? Or should I email you with further details. If not, no worries, keep up the great content.
re dust; watch companies have air filtered assembly rooms, and the Japanese wear face masks. Wearing gloves helps and (reduce moisture) don't breath anywhere near the watch and/ or wear a air filter face mask.
I use the same hand setters and yes, they are awesome. For a movement holder, I like the VTA 7460 available on eBay but I just started using the Murphy Manufacturing Seiko movement holder which has an inner and outer sleeve specific for modders. ruclips.net/video/-5S4r-QbNEc/видео.html&list=WL
Random Rob the only thing I don’t like about the Murphy is that the only resistance it provides when setting hands is from a rubber o-ring between the inner and outer sleeve - you’ll understand what I mean when you get yours. I removed the o-ring and cleaned it with rubbing alcohol to improve the resistance. I’m still thinking of installing a small threaded lock nut of some kind but it works OK for now.

@@RandomRobReviews Thank you so much Rob...I am really excited to try it in the build I am planning :)

That metal insert with the red triangle is beautiful!

Ceramic looks good with the blue dial in my opinion anyways.

Hi Rob, can you please let me know what hand set is that? Marine Master aftermarket? By which maker? Thanks!
It’s seiko mm300
Do you have to do any mods to the Padi dial in order for it to fit on the 7S26?
Nope

Where you buy these watch hands and dials ? Thanks.
Can you provide links on where to buy your hand setting tools?

Do you order your bezel, crystal, inserts from the same place?
Great video again... Love the new man cave...
just curious have you ever bought anything from jomashop or should I just stick to Amazon
Thx
Have ordered a few watches from Joma, they are easy to deal with.
@@RandomRobReviews ok... thx
But are they legit?... lol

Joma is legit and safe to buy from. Always do your homework first though. What are you guys looking at buying? What price level?

BenDangS that would be easy for you to do. Just buy a tool set off of amazon and a dust blower
Ill give it a shot!
