I'm a small town girl from South Dakota. I saw a Gomez video playing on TV at a big university. It was my first time living away from home. I was hooked. I have every single album. No one else I have ever met has even heard of them. Its tragic, they should have been HUGE. It is like these songs were created just for me and I am oddly okay with that.
I've seen them live 3 or 4 times in the UK, brought their Albums, one of life's mysteries .....
It not like they were a one hit wonder, they have so many good tunes. You are right, its strange.
Shhhhh....it’s our secret.
One of life's mystery's. Out of so much music, with all kinds of genres, a few of Gomez's tracks will always be at the very top.
I've been listening to Gomez since they began in the nineties and I still listen to them now amazing band
Man now I feel old.
I remember listening to gomez when they 1st come out.
This was by far and away my favourite song at the time.
Should have been a more famous band
I used to work in a hairdressers when I was 17, we played Gomez all the time. I'm 42 now.
@@soultribesoundbaths Heh - 53 now, these guys, Ocean Colour Scene (our local band), Radiohead and so many more made the mid to late 90s epic for music. These guys sound wonderful live - can't say that for many bands!
They had me at How We Operate. And then the great tracks kept coming. Dunno why they are not bigger than they are.
What a voice and what a band! Brilliant indeed!
This song was there for me at the best of times, and it's still here at the worst. I love this tune.
And it’ll swing back around mate. What a fuckin ripper tune
Wow, last time I heard this live I was sitting cross-legged in the field of V99, Staffordshire UK. Totally inebriated with a sunburnt face and wearing a bucket hat I've only since kept for the memory :) Good times.
Same but I was also very stoned
Spine-chillingly good, this song. Been a fan of Gomez since their early days, and like others who have commented on here: I can't understand why they weren't bigger. I'm sure they are fine with that, and it makes no difference to me. I'm one of the lucky ones who found 'em.
I haven't listened to these guys in years! Still sound great
i used to listen to this song a lot with my girlfriend, those times were so perfect, shes gone now but this song and the memories will stay forever
Christ, I love his voice.
it's very reminiscent of Terry Kath from Chicago
After 23 years I've now learned it's open d tuning capo'd to e on the 2nd fret which is a really great sound and cleverly done by the boys
thank you so much.... saved me about 15 years.
Wow thanks so much I’ve been after this for years too! What are the chords?
Still not convinced it’s open D , it’s defiantly some sort of D tuning , I’ve spent 20 years trying to figure it out and never found an accurate version
It's kind of open e when it's capo'd on the 2nd fret, bloody good to play either way to be honest. The book shows it as standard tuning
Back to university, 1998 mannnnn what a time
I didnt think these guys were still around, awesome to hear them again
I remember sitting in my apartment my senior year of college in the autumn of ‘99 with weed and a bunch of candles just drinking in every note of this album.
First heard this at Glastonbury ‘98 on the final night. Clear night sky, Gomez and a bit high. Perfect!
One of the most beautiful and yet haunting songs I've ever heard...
This song is pretty special to me. One of my all time favs.
GOMEZ! REAL TALENT!!!
On a whole other level exists the ethereal wonder that is Gomez...
I watched “Lost Souls” and wanted to find This song so much! I finally did! I love it
Can't remember the year, but Gomez at Dublin's Olympia theatre is still to this day the best gig I've EVER been to
Saw them in 2000 ish in Sheffield and a year or two after. Unbelievable live. Bens voice is incredible. Remember hearing him late 90’s and thinking what a voice , then when I saw him I didn’t think he would look like that. Favourite Gomez tune this. Always reminds me of being on holiday.
One of the best songs ever for me.
what a performance , its a masterclass of pure brilliance . i would put them on level par with Radiohead all day long....no truer word spoken
As much as I loved their first two albums and this is pure brilliance they’re not in Radiohead’s league. You either love or loathe Radiohead. As good as The Bends was OK Computer is a masterpiece. One of greatest albums of all time. You have to see them live to fully appreciate how fucking genius they are. Thom Yorke weasel like but an absolutely incredible voice live and you can’t keep your eyes off him. The unbelievable guitar playing of Johnny Greenwood , effects , distortions, Ed as well and obviously Selway. Top drawer musicianship the lot of them. Best gig I’ve been to and I’ve been to some was 97/98 at Brid Spa. The volume of records they’ve done too. Gomez were a good enough band but Radiohead in comparison from another planet. Just my opinion.
@@neilmoore5387 Actually, Radiohead always bored me, not unlike Pink Floyd always bored me. I mean, I understood the brilliance of the bands, and what they were doing, they just didn’t hit my sweet spot, so to speak. Everyone has their own taste, I suppose.
@@neilmoore5387 ultimately I agree with you Radiohead have made more superior music. But as an album from my point of view 'bring it on' is better than any Radiohead album and I'm a Radiohead fan, but it's all about opinions.
@kasisoot well you've very little it seems 🤭
The atmosphere of this song.. welcome back with this live
Pure talent....Loves you Ben...👊
Kicked the arse outa that lads........top banana!
I bought this album the week it was released, over 20 year's ago. The band are still amazing, that performance was actual perfection.
Saw Gomez in OZ, superb,
Greatest band on the 2000's.
Not the most exciting. Just great.
Loved this song from back in 2003, this version is brilliant.
90'S SONG??
@@MrGoldie1976 it is, but I only stumbled upon it myself in 2003.
Just a masterpiece love this song even better live.
Heard it very vaguely in the background in an episode of One day but couldn’t place which band it was after all these years. HAD TO FIND IT and here you go. This song hits deep.
Having lived in through the 90's and 2000' without hearing this band is shocking and a bit embarrassing. Friend turned me onto them last year and I'm grateful to have found them during a time where most music isn't music at all. In Our Gun is a magnificent album.
Love this guys! Thank you KEXP to share really amazing vibes! cheers from Italy!
WoW! That was amazing!
random but listening to the qeen's speech brought me here. to hear a soul of a nation speak......love this song.
Al fín Gomez en KEXP 💗
Ive loved Gomez since 1999
Loving the comments here. I saw them play in Liverpool. Smoked a joint when you could still smoke inside and then went a did a gig with my own band. Pure bliss.
That was amazing.
Gomez fan since about 97, these boys are just awesome !!! we love Olly, but we sure miss Dajon
I've been in Tijuana with that very lady. The sweetest thing just for a weekend. Don't know their whereabouts. It's been long a long time. This song is her's forever...
I love Gomez completely and forever
Great version. Best Gomez song
The central conceit of this song is that Gomez are from Manchester UK and the music sounds like its from New Mexico.
Love these guys so much....come back to Sydney again please ❤
Take me down to where you hide
Lay me down, lay me down inside
What use now, hold back this pacific tide
Tijuana lady where did you go?
I been chasin' you around old mehico
Gonna find my way back to San Diego
Baby where'd you hide?
Take me down to where you hide
Play me around, leave me all your sadness
Make no sound, 'cause I know you'll lie
Tijuana lady, let's take it slow
I know that I'm no head honcho
I'll keep you warm in my silky poncho
Tijuana lady where did you go
I heard you lost a last sombrero
Tijuana lady which way d'you flow
I'm a el mariachi desperado
Where'd you hide
Tell me where'd you hide
Enchilada desperado days
Senorita come back and meet me again
Buena vista, senorita, yeah
I love you so come back, be with me again
I rarely comment on videos but couldn’t not comment on this one. A truly amazing performance of a beautiful song ❤
Awesome voice

Gomes are brilliant. It’s a shame most of the world don’t know it. The best kept secrets!
Phenomenal.
Hahaha, i spent 2 weeks in San Diego and Tijuana, i have the same story!
ahhhhhh, just sweet as f!
Brilliance
This is insanely good
Guitar is the ultimate expression of Free
Immense band.
They all got old. Still my favorite band though.
❤
Oh my

💕
kick ass
Senorita....
04:34 my favourite part
Top
wow
I've been chasing you around Old México...
Amazing live band. Don’t miss a beat. Could be in a studio. Belting tune this as was the album Bring it on. Ben has a fucking insane voice. Always has had. Ian on backing vocals couldn’t be more different but go so well together. A
This song reminds me of Leesa. 💔All good though apart from it being what it is. People are gifts thank you for being that special gift x💖
People are not gifts, son. They are human and hence flawed. That feeling? That is the gift and it is yours to share with whomever you will.
Heard this song for the first time on the movie lost souls with Winona Ryder and I love it
Tom Ottewell amazing voice. but i also liked Ian's and the contrast of the two is quite cool.
Sound go ed.
Lads know how it's done
total 2002 flashbax for me
Shhhhhhh......
Classic late 90s stoner music
Trigger happy TV sent me here :)
Gomez. The band the Beatles wished they'd become?🧡
Wings... the band the Beatles could have been!
Baby where'd you hide
Can someone tab this?
I really want tab for this. Definitely using some kind of alt tuning. Free to Run is apparently in DGDGGD so might try that.
Desperado senorita
if not best song ever ?
The lyrics to this song...
Yeah, I don’t want to go anywhere near his ‘silky poncho’.
@@shamelesshussy 🤣
Far to earnest and affected.
Not sure how they smell as their a scruffy bunch therefore as long as a ridged distance between the band and me was implemented and adhered to..I’d love to see them again. Quality
Where d'you hide.....m.............
I thought that was seth rogan in the thumbnail
😂😂very much his doppelgänger 😁
Seth Rogan is amazing!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Look at this new quarantine collab from Ben: ruclips.net/video/ArefFfkJvMg/видео.html :)
You could argue that this was better than the original. I don't say that lightly X
no
I had to get a shot of penicillin thanks to that "Tijana lady"
Seth Rogen’s band are pretty hot.
Finally they look like they sound, instead of being 20-year old Tom Waits copyists 😂
what?
you guys need to scrape together some cash and buy some new equipment, there is always static and\or feedback between songs...
Think that’s the idea pal.
