I am a medical Examiner ,what was is the jar was a colon,, the reason we weight, is because each part of the human body at a certain age should weight X amount , if abnormal then we look for fowl play such as poisons , drugs, diseases, etcetera.
Organs have a "normal" weight and livers, kidneys, hearts can be over weight which can lead to causes of death. Hepatitis, kidney failure, or heart diseases.
The thing that scares me the most is abandoned hospitals, nurseries, and orphanages. But hospitals are definitely the one that give me the creeps the most. why? Because other than all the creepy shit that has ever happened there, serial killers can literally hide bodies here and make it look like it was just a surgery gone wrong and it was abandoned or something... gives me chills down my spine.
The only time they’ll freeze a deceased (and only in hospital morgues), is if they’re waiting a long time for someone to claim them, or if an autopsy is taking longer than expected... Once claimed or the cause of death is absolute, the funeral operatives will collect, and relocate to their own mortuary, then into the embalming room to “thaw” out...
Nothing, diseases don’t survive outside the body for very long. There’s nothing he’s exposed to here that he wouldn’t be exposed to at an abandoned house.
Honestly. But not like doctors gloves or some latex crap. Work gloves in case they need their hands to maneuver. It would help protect against things like broken glass or even needle sticks. I know if I ever get a chance to do this kind of thing I'm keeping a pair with me, just in case.

As someone who definitely would have been admitted into an asylum back then, I feel deeply for all of the souls that were lost in places like these. May they find peace.
It's in every working hospital still though, and those samples help doctors get to know an illness better - there's a golden rim around keeping them, HOWEVER, it's not ok at all to leave them behind after a place has closed. It's either donated to museums, other hospitals, or properly gotten rid off by a team that is certified to deal with bio-hazard materials.
I feel a heaviness watching this, so sad for all the lost souls that must be wandering that place. Blood and files of people laying around, who were these people? What was their story? I mean there are obviously records from the hospital's very beginning, records of people born 200 years ago. That blows my mind! I sooo would like to visit this place but I don't think that I would ever leave.

The weight of an organ can give important clues as to the cause of death. For example; an enlarged heart shows heart disease, heavier lungs indicate the presence of fluids, phlegm from pneumonia or cancerous tumors. Autopsy reports have to be descriptive and concise. Bodies are refrigerated (not frozen ) in order to decrease the chance of bacterial growth. That’s why operating rooms are very cool. I’m so glad that you wore a mask, Josh. Great video ✌🏼❤️

I know this comment is late, but the scales are used to weigh the organs and document the weight to compare to “normal” weights to see if there is enlargement or shrinkage due to disease or other causes. The large refrigerator is for multiple body storage. Bodies are chilled at 32°f to slow the decomposition process. Also, the “blood tubes” are blood and tissue slides to look at under the microscope.
Be careful me and my friend went to an abandoned place and there was some crazy guy in there all drugged up. Go with an explorer who knows what they're doing. Take care Be safe
I do agree but also they bring stuff that's made for paranormal activity or "ghost hunting". They're just exploring this time:3 but I do agree with you!
When I saw the “September 2001” calendar…hit me hard. All I could think about was 9/11. That whoever took down the August page on the calendar, to reveal the new month of September…had no idea what would happen in the US in just a few days.
00:22:57 - He must be one of the last patients at that hospital. Be careful if you and your explorer pals see a random person walking alone at a place like that. Who knows? Something could be wrong with their own, "clock".
Some areas have laws that files have to be kept for a certain amount of time before they’re allowed to be destroyed but they definitely should have moved them instead of just leaving them there.
Merrily S. When something goes bankrupt, they don’t have the money left. (Bankruptcy process is designed to minimize additional cost to either recover or shutdown that company/organization) Demolishing costs money, thus, they can’t afford that either. It’s also due to certain laws like the other guy mentioned.
Aye josh on the weighing of the internal organs is important in forensic medicine and pathology, because the weight of the organs is useful in determining whether the organ is normal or pathological. Many diseases and illnesses have been known to change the weight of organs
I can also accounts for that statement. Have you seen a body that has been sitting decomposed for 10+ years? Thats exactly what they do and you can also see the shape of how the child was laying.
13:31 That Coca Cola bottle... those are the ones I remember as a kid. They were always glass with the wax paper label. That's from the 80's-90's for sure.
Yeah, I remember these long gone bottles. There were sometimes marked with a contest when you could win a free chocolate bar or another coke with the seal under the cap. Good memories with those.
About the weighing machine, yes it is used for weighing the tissue samples because the fixation ratio is 1:20 (tissue :Formalin) so its calculated for how much formalin is required to fix this weight of tissue.
wait so... you think morgues keep brains in jars? lmao, the jars are typically for chemicals that are mixed with other chemicals to embalm/preserve corpses. if there are ever brains in jars, it’s likely a university college that preserves them for study.
Yeah and they spend money and limited land killing the poor nature on new spots and buildings 🤦♀️🤦♀️ instead of using what’s already there and maintaining. it makes me so mad.
The part where you say "what's going on here, the kids have no eyes" those are old school puppets..the bottom is a handle and they would hold it up to their faces looking through the eye holes. Very old! Bet there actually worth some $, antique collectors would luv em'. The scale in the morgue, is to weigh the body parts, to write it down if there's any abnormally, like a heavy heat would likely mean some sort of heart disease.
Btw the “blood tests” aren’t actually all blood tests. They are some blood tests but most of them are tissue samples from patients that died and were examined in the morgue. They are saved in the even they find something or they were murder or something like that.
@Alg 2003 by any chance do you know the name of this hospital? I would like to read more about it. Josh doesn't share his locations because he doesn't want others to vandalise the place but I live in South Africa, so visiting is never going to happen. I googled smallpox hospital that closed in 2001 America... But they give covid reports. Nothing about this place.
Jothie Chetty No sorry I’m not shure. I just knew it was a teaching hospital because of all the classrooms and practice needles. And based on the fact that it was a smallpox hospital because they would have needed a lot more staff to care for those infected.
The reason they use the scales is if they need to weigh the organs to see if there were any fluid or inflamation that could be in the organs that could be the cause of death. Or at least i think so lol
They were most likely burned if the person had died. But these type of information shouldn’t be as accessible to people living in today information like that tends to be stored away safer.
Fire White Since many of those files are pre computer system dated, and it was abandoned in 2001, no, they are not public, even with research. Some might be, but not all. Plus, information that has identifying patient information is legally supposed to be handled differently. No amount of research should tell me when you went the hospital, what tests were done, what the results were, and what the notes were. That is all considered private information (unless you commit a crime, then there are more details made public).

I mean there were blood samples and all and they DO prolly have diseases like SMALLPOX!! You could catch a bug man
Paranoid
They aren’t going to catch anything from years and years ago just from looking
A Kayfabe u obviously don’t know how viruses work😂
@@CAUGHH Yeah i don't lol. But its dusty so it's always good to wear gloves, obviously.
You can get bitten by ticks that can give you sepsis and other illnesses.
I’ve worked as a pathologist tech, fantastic job and so interesting except when mutilated children and incidents with minors they were sad at times.
Wow that’s crazy!
Is it(the mutilation and incidents)a common thing in hospital of that era, or just that specific one
@@leeguo9443 back in the day it was uncommon but I believe some were not disclosed and now probably similar but maybe slightly higher but a lot is not disclosed due to distress other than to the medical and the prosecution if there’s a case.

Anyone else wonderin how they find these kind of places.... im curious fr tho
if its on google this place would be trashes with garbage and graffiti, probably fans suggest places or they know people:)
Word of mouth from other explorers .
Be careful me and my friend went to an abandoned place and there was some crazy guy in there all drugged up. Go with an explorer who knows what they're doing. Take care Be safe
@@ivdddoxiemama7275 ofcourse
Ikr I always been curious about this stuff
Notice how there’s no paranormal activity until someone intentionally goes in there to make that type of video🤷🏽♂️
Exactly don’t put out what you don’t want back. Just how life is..
Lol
I do agree but also they bring stuff that's made for paranormal activity or "ghost hunting". They're just exploring this time:3 but I do agree with you!
i know this man did not
just ask “where is everyone”
I think he was on about his friends maybe
I was just about to comment that
he said that as i read this comment creepy
When I saw the “September 2001” calendar…hit me hard. All I could think about was 9/11. That whoever took down the August page on the calendar, to reveal the new month of September…had no idea what would happen in the US in just a few days.
Me, a healthcare student watching them touch stuff without gloves: DONT TOUCH THE BIOHAZARD BAGS DONT (This is just for fun, love your content!)
Can diseases live for 20 years on surfaces?
I was thinking GLOVES myself and diseases linger for many years that is why today they exist and come back from many years ago! 🥵
dude i’m also screaming-
Josh should get a test to see how much asbestos he has on his lungs
Lol yeah
I was thinking this too!
They should've waited till 2020 and their hospital would have been full making a sh*t ton of money
fr thooo
Ikrrr
Low key but it would’ve been hell to fix it up tho
@@Poopybutt371 fr I thought of that too
@breezetix covid
The guy they saw from the roof, walked like a zombie.
Wish I knew more about that person.
00:22:57 - He must be one of the last patients at that hospital. Be careful if you and your explorer pals see a random person walking alone at a place like that. Who knows? Something could be wrong with their own, "clock".
?
SpanglishCatto I just can’t help but he is reminding me of PvZ zombie walking animation...
Bruh, the hospital shut down in 2001
We got a zombie outside the hospital
He seemed intoxicated
I bet you have some wild dreams sometimes
The negligence upsets me so much. Why they didn’t property destroy these records, seriously.
I thought the same thing! Not just the files but the blood samples too!
I agree
As someone who studied biology, this exploration was a treasure.
i cant even imagine how many important pieces of history these dudes have left to be demolished. like that bozo book? gone.
Or that turtle Cold War book
I feel sorry for the person who had there organs in that jar
bro imagine
Super eerie that the calendar was on Sept 2001
Especially with 9/11
Someone else said it closed 10 days b4 9/11
Came to the comments to talk about exactly this. Honestly sent a chill up my spine.
Exploring abandon places (Especially hospitals) always gave me the chills
Aye josh on the weighing of the internal organs is important in forensic medicine and pathology, because the weight of the organs is useful in determining whether the organ is normal or pathological. Many diseases and illnesses have been known to change the weight of organs
Me seeing my name on the crib: 👁👄👁
Uuuhhh
Was it you or a different person with the same name as you
@@sadhbhfn3341 I have no idea where this is and have no recollection of this place, so I’m pretty sure someone just shared the same name as me lol.

So that big black and rusty spot? Yea that’s where he found the baby
How can you say for sure?

Time stamp?
I can also accounts for that statement. Have you seen a body that has been sitting decomposed for 10+ years? Thats exactly what they do and you can also see the shape of how the child was laying.

13:31 That Coca Cola bottle... those are the ones I remember as a kid. They were always glass with the wax paper label. That's from the 80's-90's for sure.
Yeah, I remember these long gone bottles. There were sometimes marked with a contest when you could win a free chocolate bar or another coke with the seal under the cap. Good memories with those.
Those records from 1899 that had like blood tests could be shown in a museum. Or those records of examinations can be helpful for future references
Those weren't records from 1899 that was just a filing number lol josh can be dumb like that sometimes

About the weighing machine, yes it is used for weighing the tissue samples because the fixation ratio is 1:20 (tissue :Formalin) so its calculated for how much formalin is required to fix this weight of tissue.
How do they have the guts to walk inside as soon as I take a step I will want to go home already 😂

wait so... you think morgues keep brains in jars? lmao, the jars are typically for chemicals that are mixed with other chemicals to embalm/preserve corpses. if there are ever brains in jars, it’s likely a university college that preserves them for study.
also, the biohazard jar doesnt have a LUNG in it. it’s just soiled cloth/cotton from cleanup.
Came here to say this
actually, they do. brains and most organs
saved for future studies
The morgue at my hospital have preserved brains, hearts, lungs and so on.
That horse in the kids room is called bingo, my son has one, I haven’t had such an emotional reaction until that
I just had a moment thinking humans build so much beautiful stuff just to abandon it cuz of lack of money
Yeah and they spend money and limited land killing the poor nature on new spots and buildings 🤦♀️🤦♀️ instead of using what’s already there and maintaining. it makes me so mad.
19:47 a perfect placed chair for a scary doll to be placed on
Omg idk how you go in some of these places I’d have to take shower in boiling water with bleach I’d feel like I caught something lol
Same heree
I wonder if you find celebrities that passed away in them files
Kinda illegal to look thru some of them
Highly doubtful considering it was a biohazard hospital
For the entire video I just had Silent Hill (ps1) flashbacks, it really really seems a scene from a horror game

Sameeee
Jothie Chetty
No sorry I’m not shure. I just knew it was a teaching hospital because of all the classrooms and practice needles. And based on the fact that it was a smallpox hospital because they would have needed a lot more staff to care for those infected.

the toy room / room with cribs is probably part of the hospital daycare system. lots of hospitals have them for the employees that have children
Josh: I don’t want to touch these.
2 seconds later: touch touch. Lol
Seeing that calendar makes it more sad cause it could’ve potentially closed a few days after 9/11
So many gloves comments. Not wearing gloves at a gas station gas pump is more dangerous then this hospital rn.
Haha facts
I mean yes but he really should wear gloves.
*more dangerous. As you said. Doesn't mean this still isn't dangerous and he shouldn't wear gloves. So, yeah.
I wear gloves when pumping gas now and will continue to do so after the pandemic. There are some gross people out there that have some dirty hands.
Yes, I think so
Just a note. In a morgue refrigerator the temperature is 36 to 39°. They never freeze the bodies. Just keep them extremely cold to delay decay.
The reason they use the scales is if they need to weigh the organs to see if there were any fluid or inflamation that could be in the organs that could be the cause of death. Or at least i think so lol
This is really interesting thank you for the education ❤
@@pittie565 like they said. They think.

I hate to think how much personal private information is just left lying around there for anyone to read!!!😠
They were most likely burned if the person had died. But these type of information shouldn’t be as accessible to people living in today information like that tends to be stored away safer.
HIPPA who? That is just not okay. 2001!!
Yeah cuz that info is obviously not 0ublic to anyone that makes a lil research
@@vagrantdancer3880 all the info about deaseased how they died when they were born etc is public to everyone that makes a research for it so who cares
