I have the Sirui K-20x ball head coupled with the Sirui W-2004 tripod which is the less expensive aluminum version of the W-2204 he shows in the video (the W stands for waterproof). I attach to it a Nikon D7500 camera and Sigma 150-600mm telephoto lens - which generates a lot of forward weight. The K-20 ball head has a friction knob as well as a main locking knob. The friction knob allows you to adjust the maximum amount of looseness the main locking knob will allow even when you open it up all the way, thus avoiding the possibility of gravity causing the camera/lens rig to smash down due to an overly loose locking knob. I don't know if Mr. Chakyat has a promotional agreement with Sirui or a genuine appreciation of the brand but from my experience, Sirui makes very well made, quality products at reasonable prices. Worth checking out.

I have recently viewed your videos and I am very impressed with your presentations. I have been using the Sirui P-204RS with a Sirui L-20S head for over a year now and I am very pleased with it. My current tripod, and like many I have been through a number of them, is a Gitzo Explorer GT2541EX ( unfortunately has been discontinued ) with an Arca-Swiss P0 head and a RRS QR clamp. This easily holds My Pentax K1 and a Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 lens very easily. It also provides excellent support for my Pentax 645N (yes, film ) and a Pentax A 120mm macro lens which is a beast of a lens. Anyway, the half dozen or so of your videos that I have viewed so far are very enjoyable.

I've been searching for sirui tripods in India especially since when that angryphotographer raved about their tripod. I have a doubt before the purchase though. The difference between the carbon fibre and aluminium is only 600 grams and they have almost identical dimensions and load capacity. Is there any other benefit for spending that extra 16k for the carbon fibre version? Other than it being waterproof. Thanks !!!

Thank you for sharing this wonderful piece of information.
Actually im looking for an upgrade to my DSLR which is the canon EOS 600D (with an 18-135mm and 50mm) and it hasnt disappointed me yet. I click mostly landscapes...may be portraits as well.
The recently launched EOS M50 and the older EOS 80D are my options (since I couldn't extend my budget for Sony A7 III). I need a better low light performer. So which one do you think is better.
    ?
What makes a mirrorless cameras unique from a DSLR, apart from the size and shooting speed ?. Does they offer better picture quality or details when compared to a DSLR of similar spec. ?
Also does a mirrorless camera has any advantage when it comes to low light photography, compared to a DSLR of the same spec ?. Looking forward to hear from you....may be in next Q&A session. Thanks.

  • @jacdale

A question - why are Sirui clamps and plates proprietary? They look somewhat like Arca Swiss and the Acra-type description is not really accurate. I had to return a L-20S 2-Way Levelling Tilt Head for my monopod because it was incompatible with the L Bracket on my Nikon D7100 and battery grip. It would not attach to the vertical plate as there are no slots for the Arca Swiss safety screws.

Gitzo or RRS worth the money, if you shoot outdoor in windy conditions, with long exposures and lenses and want to minimum the weight and size. At the same weight and size these tripods are mich more sturdy and stiff.
