This is happening everywhere. I live in Alberta, Canada. One town called Olds, two weeks ago posted in their News Letter that they wanted to clarify to their citizens that it would not become an experiment in the "15 minute city", because, as they stated, "we applied for funding, but was not selected." So, they applied for funding without consulting its citizens first! (Funding from exactly whom or what, was not disclosed). As you can imagine, people are angry. By the way, Olds and the small town I live in now are 15 minute towns. We basically have the same population, approx. 7,000. We have all the essentials, including a hospital, but any major medical procedure has to been done in Lethbridge or Calgary, one hour to two hours away, respectively. We definitely need our vehicles. We are also primarily an agricultural and oil producing province. Travel is essential for work and survival for the majority of people. At least our current premier of Alberta, Danielle Smith, said she would not allow any follower of the WEF in her cabinet. This whole 15 minute city appears to be a blatant attack on our democracy, freedom, home, work and social life. It's blatant control with communist undertones. Thank you Neil Oliver and guests for discussing this issue.
Yes I noticed the same in my country.. All that crap Digital ID, 15 minute city and so on is being implemented simultaneously in every western controlled country..
Our Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, like his father, a previous Prime Minister is a socialist. Justin is a graduate of the Klaus Schwab school of Economics stating that China is the role model of society everyone should adopt. The expectation then, is that the government by law acquires its citizens bank accounts, investment and takes ownership of lands , estates, one's very home. This results in total control of the individual, physically, financially and eventually mentally. In Canada we have lost the right to protest govt actions, e lockdown, inability to access valid medical assistance, ie effective treatments for Covid by the Cdn college of Physicians likely mandated by WHO, freedom of religion if you are Christian, and soon your thoughts will become hostage to politically mandated thought. according to policy. Yes, Canada is know for being a democratic communist country. Ask the Croatian representative at the UN who castigated Trudeau for transgressing his citizens rights. I was watching a documentary on the great 19th century British engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Apart from impressive bridge structures, Brunel created many of the railway services. Back in the day everything was local, shops, dentist, GPs, schools etc, it was very rare we had to travel to the big centres, this worked of course, however my father worked outside of this as did many, you had to travel outside of your estate to get anywhere for things and places you need. Day trips to the zoo or beaches with the kids, visiting family that live outside of your local area, hospitals aren't local either for many. While people are happy to stay local most of the time we still need to travel. Malls and huge shopping centres have sprung up everywhere to entice shoppers with a better shopping experience, these places will die if we can't travel, businesses will go bust, as will taxis etc. I do remember when the butchers, bakers etc were thriving in my local community but they died. I do not agree with the 15 minute zone, we are being caged in, we should be able to travel at will. I was brought up in the smogg days, coal fires etc, we survived. I could see these 15 minute cities being great if they are community controlled. You should be able to freely travel between them through high-speed rail or something, then get off and walk or bike. Any type of authoritarian control is wrong and should be resisted, but transitioning to smaller, localized villages could greatly improve our lives. Cars have destroyed the livability of cities. Where I live there are so many massive parking lots that are empty the majority of the day. Imagine these could be housing, parks, gardens, or any other number of things that tangibly benefit humans.
It struck me a few weekends ago while I was at the last Ulez protest in Trafalgar Square and made our way to Downing Street, that we were just a few yards away from the Cenotaph, and that the Cenotaph is a monument to the staggeringly brave individuals who gave their lives fighting tyranny, for their freedoms and for their rights as human beings. And now, here we are in early 21st Century Britain, and there appears to be emerging a small class of people who are insidiously trying to revoke those same freedoms and rights for which people paid for with their own BLOOD! We cannot, and must not let this happen to us, or we are no better than China or North Korea. Stand up to them and defeat them at all costs!

Why on Earth do you think that rural centres are in danger? 15-minute cities simply plan to make neighbourhoods more liveable. If all this is so amazing why aren't the organisers doing it first because according to them, if its so idyllic then people would automatically give up their cars as there'd be no need for them. Strange it's not done that way! 🤔
The most worrying aspect of all this is that some areas of these cities are crime ridden violent places to be, if your freedom to use the car in these areas is taken away who is going to protect you when your stuck there too afraid to walk or cycle to the shops or use the amenities ? there are places in our inner cities even the police fear to tread, some people will find them selves condemned to a life of fear and misery.

We all have to do our little bit...10 minutes a week to email a politician etc....we must stand together to stop this.
Fight it.
Well spoken all of you. Thank you.
Not to worry too much. The UK can't keep its services going as they are, never mind build all necessary new outlets and parks. Ie hospital and clinics.
Yeh can see the older generation riding around on bikes in 15-minute cities during the winter months lmfao
Many are not able to do so, much less walk. Persons with certain nerve, muscle, or pain issues will be locked in their homes.
@@LemonThyme1933 The proportion of the population you refer to is comparatively small and there can be exceptions. If that's the extent of the argument against it doesn't amount to much.
I didn't even think about the weather. I'd love to see 15-minute city advocates of any age walking and bicycling where I live... minus 29 degrees C, snow and ice all over the place. The streets get cleared, but they are still sort of messy and lumpy -- neither walking- nor bicycle-friendly. Nobody here walks or bikes in the winter. But I guess we could all just stay inside for the whole winter, and when the food runs out, we could just starve. After all, human life is very cheap to the radical green crowd.
I presume that these councils are going to ban all their workers from owning car and will close all the council parking spots for their workers. After all if they can't get their own workers into the office when they are themselves in charge of public transport, what hope is there for the rest of us.
@kevinallsop1628. All on line, no need to get workers into the office, no problem, until the lights go out then everything grinds to a halt. And they call it progress.
Good people standing together against tyrannical stupidity 👏
I live in Bath, I hate these people so very very much, the way people in the west country get about is by car, we have no choice, our local authority appears not to know this.
Next will be factory "villages" for workers to reside in the campus of their work place
Pods
Well we don’t need to worry about access to our towns and cities in 10 years time they’ll no longer exist
Lol people saying it's prison are right side sheep. I feel like it's insane that you need a Ford f150 for groceries at Walmart 😂
This is imprisonment
Not to mention the gang culture this will create
A Tory voter 50+ years calling for revolution to stop dystopian government & establishment (including the monarchy) need 360 degree turn or we need revolution.
I heard that Sangita off of lbc quote..."when good men do nothing, evil happens". How many times has that quote bern put up on youtube over the last 3 years.
15 minute cities - is it new meaning of GHETTO?!
The worrying thing is the government is not pushing back against this.
because it’s a good idea
Ha ha it's the governments plan
@@louismiles2340 said nobody ever
Theres no doubt we need less cars on the road
I like the idea of it, but the reality is it is discrimination towards people who are less fortunate, people who can't afford to live near the beach, or people who can only afford to live in the suburbs. I feel like the rich people are trying to lock the middle class and poor people up to stop them from coming into their areas.
You actually like the idea of it,, totally, riqidu dulous.
Just don't pay, destroy the cameras, get rid of the road furniture
Wire cutters at the ready
We have already lost 'the local corner shop' (with corparate bullies) and I should be FREE to go any local store I want too.
....Within or out 15 minutes thinking. Outrageous control mechamisms from councils and governments.
This can't be allowed to happen to us in the UK, when these cameras and roadblocks go up, they need to be removed again and again until they get the message. You can bet your arse that politicians will be exempt from their own plans.
GRENADES, OR DYNAMITE, ANYONE.
British invented both the modern bicycle and the railways. Why choose those foreign cars over uniquely British inventions?
Don’t follow these ridiculous top down 15 minute rules. They can’t control everyone everywhere 😮
I hope they do I hate city people bout time the government did something about them
It's up to the people to remove these cameras themselves
Why do you want to need to drive everywhere?
The idea of having everything we need within 15 minutes does make sense, but we absoultley should not be restricted from going to another town one day for shopping if we wish. Its all about control and more $ from the tax payer
No one is proposing that. Literally no one. This is entirely made up by conspiracy weirdos.
Its not about restricting movement, that fool got it all wrong
If the limit of movement is a good idea, then why not trial it on the Councillors that are trying to push it on the people. Lock them down in their homes and banish them from the public realm.
