Hi John! This was soooo very helpful...thanks for doing this video. Now I have a question. Could you recommend a program for Mac where I can plot these old deeds that accepts the old measurements that these deeds use? I would love to be able to do that. I did a little sleuthing and found some that would cost a chunk of change that I really don't want to pay.

Hi Paula, we're happy to hear that you found some value in the video! We use DeedMapper in house, which is only compatible with Windows, and unfortunately we're not familiar with something similar for Mac (we need more programmers interested in historical property research!!). There is a free online version, however, called Tract Plotter (www.tractplotter.com/). For this you would use "R" OR "P" for the rods/poles/perches measurements. Unfortunately, Tract Plotter does not allow you to overlay the shape on a map, but at least you can see the shapes and compare it to a later map like the 1883 Breuos Farm Atlas. Hope that makes sense, and feel free to email use with any additional questions (CCArchives@Chesco.org).
