at 12:26, I noticed an error. If you still see a yellow iodine color after an hour, chances are you have sufficient iodine. If it is gone, chances are you are deficient.

    • @timbraun5258
      @timbraun5258 2 года назад +26

I noticed the same thing. The hypothyroidism video says that if the stain hasnt disappeared after 24hrs you probably DO NOT have a deficiency. If it is gone, has been absorbed, you probably DO have a deficiency.

Oh absolutely. I'm in search of someone with his mindset to be my doctor AFTER I was told my doctor was not taking me as a patient anymore. I was constantly challenging her for so many reasons as to why I didn't want to go down the popping pill lane. I saw so many side effects with my parents and my siblings that I did not want to travel or to be told because I wasn't hypertensive "yet" that I would eventually become hypertensive because I'm a black person and it runs in my family... I was told that when I was 55, I'm 60 now and doing well. To be told that I have a "low-normal" functioning thyroid and be told that I would just have to deal with it without any suggestions of a change of diet just floored me. That's just two examples of many... I'm so frustrated... I just appreciate all of Dr. Eric's videos.

Yes. I have been tested so many times for hypothyroidism. The blood tests come back as “normal” but I honestly think the normal range is too vague. I have a lot of the symptoms of hypothyroidism (and sometimes hyperthyroidism-almost like it bounces back and forth if that’s even possible..)and they even scanned my thyroid and said it was enlarged but “it was nothing to worry about-just check yearly to see what’s happening”.. never gave me anything to work on with diet or anything to know to help heal me. I react to wheat/gluten so I avoid it all the time, and I feel swollen in my neck a lot.
I have many family members who have thyroid issues. Totally testing myself now!

This doctor is invaluable! I have been told I have R.A. SInce 1976. I have had those 💥 nodules just about all this time. I was told they are from the arthritis, not thyroid nodules. That misled me to try researching in the wrong places. Who told me that? A doctor, so he didn’t know correct information either! I have NEVER found a reason why they showed up and they are painful!!! They are around my elbows and ankles. They limit actions tremendously.
Finally a cause I can relate to and do something about! ( yes, I have low thyroid, too) I’ve been taking Iodine and T-3, but not selenium! I want these misleaders to be gone!
Dr Berg, you are a treasure! Thank you for these and all your information! 🙏🏻🎯

You are not alone! I was dx hypothyroid at 17-18. I didn't find out it was Hashimoto's until many years later after beginning to research and asking the drs to test for antibodies. Several refused but finally one agreed to test. My antibodies were through the roof. Not only that, but for over 15 years, they had been undertreating my thyroid and my levels were never in optimal range. Fast forward to getting on dessicated thyroid, I have begun the healing journey. Dr Berg has a more extensive thyroid health course. I found it very helpful

I believe menopause tripped up my body and doctors put me on Synthroid in 2007. It helped, but at 66 that was the only med I was taking and wanted off of it. My kinesiologist started treating my pituitary and liver with supplements and I have been Synthroid free since October. It was pretty rough weaning off over 2 months, but I am completely symptom free now. No problems losing weight because I have been eating keto and 18/6 IF the past year. I have no doubt cutting out grains and sugar and fasting helped as much as the supplements. I’m still taking the pituitary supplements. T3/t4 normal and tsh normal. Thank you Dr. Berg!

The problem occurrs when someone suddenly turns to being veganism after eating meat for so long. Their digestive system is adapted to absorbing nutrients from meat (especially the proteins) and they get malnutritioned by sudden switch to veganism...
Ppl who are vegetarians from beginning tend to know what to eat to get the required nutrients which otherwise are obtained from animal based food.

I tested myself through the Basel temp test, looked at all the symptoms I was having and came up with it. I also have hypoglycemia and therefore corrected my entire diet, it’s still a hit and miss with that if I try something new. I’ve gained 40 lbs since 2013, I’ll lose 5 lbs then it comes back. It seems like I am stuck. Plus over the last two years I’ve been dealing with swelling in my feet up to my knees, my dr gave me water pills and they do nothing.

I had hypothyroidism when I was 15 and was severely underweight no matter how much I ate. I also started becoming anemic and getting 8 cavities at a time, every time I would eat gluten my belly would grow so large and I was so skinny that I looked like one of the malnourished children from 3rd world countries with inflated hard belly. I had to cut off gluten from my life for over 2 years, began bodybuilding throughout that process. I went to conventional doctors with no avail, until I met Dr David Stewart from leesburg who told me it was high intolerance to gluten (not celiac) that destroyed the Villi in my intestinal lining which is responsible for absorbing nutrients . He also said I could have developed cancer in my small intestine if I had continued.

I didn’t develop gluten sensitivities until I was in my 50s and going through menopause (I’m in my 60s now). I don’t know whether that was related to hormonal changes or due to the type of GMO wheat we have now. I tested negative for celiac. When I was young, even into my 40s, I didn’t suffer from wheat gluten reactions. Now, I do. 🤷🏼‍♀️ As far as controlling weight, my best success has been IF and doing my best to keep starchy carbs out.

Nice to hear some common sense about Thyroid. Thanks.
Had Epstein-Barr and was diagnosed as auto-immune on many levels. My system totally rejected Synthroid and I won't touch the porcine thyroid (too many ingredients that are not thyroid). Lived like this for 40 years. Kept getting tested and T4 was highT3 very low. Have HCV (over 50 years and it's from a transfusion, not stupidity).
Last year I spoke to an endocrinologist who was ready to put me on Metaformin and porcine thyroid. She won't talk to me again -- I already knew what my bloodwork showed (I'm living Keto!) and refused the porcine, bought a cleaner product. She didn't like that at all -- told me alternatives weren't a part of her training. Pay $50 a month out of my own pocket because it's not Pharma, and so not covered. But it works!
    Whole Gland Desiccated Bovine Thyroid.
My craving for seaweed went away in a week. I'd always craved the seaweed, and the craving vanished.(If only my craving for sweet would vanish as easily).
Ultrasound showed nodes on/in the gland before we started treatment.
It's been nearly a year. Bloodwork shows my thyroid gland is no longer trying to fill the cellular needs (ie: working overtime), the antibodies are still in circulation and so I'll be taking the caps of desiccated bovine thyroid until the antibodies stop.
After a year, I am losing less hair. Don't think it's growing back, but I'm 72 and recently started taking DHEA because it seems my ovaries have disappeared... Can't be found by ultrasound. So maybe my hair will grow back, be nice to have eyebrows and eyelashes again.
With the combination of the bovine thyroid and the DHEA I find I sleep better and don't hit the wall (need a nap) as often as I did.

After blood tests (thyroid function was normal), x-rays, ultrasound and biopsy I was booked to have right hemithyroidectomy surgery.
I still have some nodules on the left side, what happens from here I'm unsure, I'm booked for my follow up appointment next week.
Even though it has only been 12 days since surgery and recovery was slow due to nausea and a cold, I already feel much better, with less brain fog and so I'm looking forward to the other symptoms you mentioned in the video to subside. I'm definitely considering a keto diet.

I've read several articles on iodine painting tests and yours is the opposite of what the others are saying, that is it should take 18 to 24 hours for the iodine to disappear if you are not deficient, quicker absorption means you are deficient. It seems logical to me that if you are deficient it would be absorbed quicker.
