- French farmers have been getting closer to Paris as they continue to block highways in protest against price pressures, taxes and green regulation.

Dozens of tractors occupied a motorway near the city of Beauvais leading to the French capital. In Belgium, farmers blocked highways in the south of the country and parked tractors near the European parliament in Brussels.

This is not just an issue in Europe, but here in Sri Lanka and rest of Asia, the cost of production of food has exceeded the income. Pretty soon the farmers around the world will stop farming. What's going to happen to populations then?

No one protests in singapore in mass numbers. I once dated a french man of algerian decent who said he liked this abt my country. I replied I did not(knowing that true democracies must exercise its rights frequently for evolution and progression without autocracy and despots and draconian authoritarian regimes seeping in) and that is as far our dating history would go.

This happened to us with our U.S. timber Industry in the late 90's and early 2000's. We lost our mill and hundreds of others because Canada was allowed to flood the U.S. market with cheap lumber which drove us all out of business.
What was the result of that? Honest question, I know sarcasm is so overused you could take my question as such is not, I'm genuinely curious.

They protest mainly because they say that they have more restrictive standards to apply in France than in other countries (especially in Spain) and that this creates unfair competition.
@@mariembalo3076 In Spain, the standarts are the same that in France. Where not are the same is in countries out the ue, where do they use banned pesticides and they sell below the cost of production.
Every day trucks from Morocco cross Spain to all the countries of Europe, loaded with fruits and vegetables produced under these conditions, making unfair competition.

Environment protestors block a road for an hour, and people are murderously angry
Farmers set fire to multiple roads, and have occupied entire highways between countries for days, seeking more money for themselves, and people think it’s completely fine 👍
