Welcome to my wild garden

- This time of the year my garden is a bit wild, and I can’t wait to see the sharp yew hedges when Preben - my gardener - have clipped them. They give so much structure to the garden. In few days he will start and in next week I will show you how it looks.
Today I’m talking about tall plants, roses and also some wild flowers. I will also take you on a tour to Great Dixter in the South of England. Welcome …
My name is Claus Dalby, and I live in Risskov on the outskirts of Aarhus in Denmark. To date, I have written about 30 books on flowers and gardens in Danish, and my garden has been featured on many TV shows. In March 2022 my first book in English will be available. I consider my home (built in1908), and its garden with its neighboring wood, as my sanctuary. When I started gardening in 1996, there was just a large lawn covering approximately 1 acre (4,000 square meters), but today the grass is long gone - replaced by 15 hedged rooms with varying colors and moods. Additionally, one of my great passions is growing in pots, arranged to create spectacular container gardens, which I will share quite a bit about on this channel. Decor and creating moods have always interested me - both outside and inside - and I love to use the flowers from my garden for bouquets and to inspire other crafts that create a sense of hygge.

I can't remain silent. I am writing through a translator. Your garden combines both classic and natural design. Such harmony. Thank you from Russia.
Thank you very much for your kind comment - it is much appreciated.
Thank you for posting the plants name in writing 🙏
Ah, Geoff Hamilton, a man very much like yourself Claus, incredibly knowledgeable, passionate & very entertaining.
Geoff is still my favourite TV gardener. That's showing my age!
You are very kind! Thank you.
I love the wild, romantic abundance of your garden. How lovely to wander there in the morning with a cup of tea among the insects!
You are absolutely correct in your praise of Great Dixter. It is unique and bewitching. It also has such a feeling of soul and it hugs at your heart. It is so personal and filled with the spirit of Christopher Lloyd. No garden ruled by a committee can compare with such a creation. I think that is also why Iove your garden so much. I feel your personality in your choice of planting material and its position in the garden. I can hardly wait to see your next video.
Ah, well said.
That is such a kind, kind compliment - I really appreciate it!

Just to be mentioned in connection with Great Dixter is such an honour - thank you so very much.
@@ClausDalbyEnglish you are so welcomed!
Thanks Claus for your garden tours. I just love to follow your plants growing during the season. I've got your book and I love it. It's great to see how your garden looks now and I can't wait for the next video. And thanks for your English garden tours. I have never visited them before so it's great to see them.
What a kind comment you have sent me - thank you so much. Also a big thank you for buying my book! I am so pleased you like it.
It is wildly beautiful! It is my goal to plant as densely as you, to lessen the need for weeding but I have a ways to go yet.
It does take time, but remember that you can make lots of new plants yourself from dividing what you already have. Good luck with it!
I beginning to like the yew hedges, I see alot of gardeners use boxwoods , I think Im gonna try the yews in my garden . You mentioned David Austin roses , I didn’t know about them until we started watching videos , so , I got 2 of them for Father’s Day 😊
This was so fun. A tour of your wonderful garden, and a bonus of a visit to Great Dixter as well! Thank you Claus.
My pleasure! Thank you for joining me.
I've been blessed to visit Great Dixter twice and have been thinking your garden reminds me of it ... with your low clipped hedges and informal arrangement of plants within. I absolutely loved Great Dixter and hope to see it again one day. Thank you for your beautiful video.
Thank you for your kind comment and for watching!
Hello from Texas!😀
Hello from Latvia!
Marvelous! I can learn a lot from you about companion planting-and so many other things!! Thank you
I am so happy to hear that you find inspiration in what I show here.
Happy Father's Day! cgzone8
Thank you for sharing! Such joy to walk around your garden and the Great Dixter. I learn a lot from both gardens. I like your use of tall plants and will google that unique one! What is the tall slender flower next to your Ambassador Alliums? It looks like pale pink, maybe Burnet?
Thank you so much for your kind comment and for being here.
Beautiful garden! Is that a Meadow Rue at 11:36 mark? I bought the ONLY one at a local
Nursery last year. Such a beautiful plant with the dark almost black stem and the blooms remind me of an allium. Not sure if it is rare in the USA zone 6b. I have never seen or heard about it anywhere else. Cheers! 🌸
Thank you so much for your kind comment about my garden and for being here.
I didn't see one insect in either garden. What is going on there?
Hola buenas, sabria usted porque algunos rosales se les ponen las ramas y las hojas marrones? Gracias y un saludo. Natalie
I am afraid that I am not able to read your question.
Hello, can anybody tell what kind of plant with round leaves is at 11:55 minute?
😄🙌🙏💚
Please list names of plants. It's difficult to write the names as they aren't on screen but few seconds. Thanks.
Thank you very much for your comment. You can pause the video and have plenty of time to write down names of plants that you like.
