    Thank you very much. Took me almost an hour to get proper instruction. The guide in the box says to scan the qr code to download an app that asks for the Mac address and I was so confused that I almost called tech support. In less than 5 mins your instruction helped me to get underway. Thank you very much. You deserve an award or something

    If you ever wonder why your wifi has stopped working and your charger is now showing a solid white light... goto the charger, on the left side of the charger there is a wifi icon with a light. If this light is lit up, I don't care what color, you probably have an issue with wifi in your house. If there is NO LIGHT, your wifi is broken in the unit and you can do as many kart wheels you want, you will never connect to the unit. It requires service. Or in my case... a new unit based on warranty. Hope this helps someone.

    While troubleshooting the installation of my ChargePoint Home Flex, found out the WiFi passphrase should not contain any special characters. Once I changed the passphrase, the ChargePoint WiFi worked. Made a few calls to ChargePoint support. Their internal documentation mentions the limitation but there in no customer facing information on this.

    We're going to be installing a second Homepoint charger. Do we need to set up a separate account for each or can we add the charger to the existing account?

    The breaker current can no longer be set in the app. Only the initial current of the breaker can be set. This product no longer lives up to the flex name. Shame on Chargepoint.

    Can you adjust the charging amperage through the app other than the breaker setting? Or does that adjust the charge speed? For example, I might want to charge at 20amps when I get home, but crank it up to 40 amps if I know I have to drive tomorrow... Thanks.

    Any one been able to use the device without wifi and activation? Our charger is in a parking garage in an apartment building and cannot reach Wi-Fi signals. That being said, you can only charge up to 16A when not activated through the app.

    Can you turn the charger on/off via the app? Would be nice to turn the charger off while away for an outdoor unit so strangers can’t come charge without permission.

      @@lafehinkle commenting 8 months later from your comment. Hope you have a CP and confirm this, but in CP’s website it mentions the ability to stop charging remotely. I’m also worried about the whole unit being physically stolen. JuiceBox charger offers a locking mechanism to secure the charger to the mounting bracket. Nothing is ever 100% theft proof, but a locking mechanism would sure help a bit.

    • @lafehinkle
      @lafehinkle Год назад

      @@KevinLin145 Hi Kevin, you are correct; the Charge Point charging unit, at least in some configurations, can be unplugged and removed (i.e. stolen). Of course this implies that you have the "plug-in" model charging unit (which comes with an actual "plug"), and not the "hardwired" model. (Apologies if this is too obvious and repetitive). Our county requires that a car charger be installed/powered in the following way: a new 220v circuit running from your circuit box, to and through the outside wall near the proposed location of the charging unit. Where the power line comes through the outside wall there will be a new small electrical box that houses a shut-off switch. The power line runs through and out of that shut off box and into a second, slightly smaller box that contains a 220v outlet. The third item, the charging unit, is installed next to this outlet box. The cord on the charging unit plugs into the outlet box.
      1)The Charger is now operational, and, although it seems unlikely in most residential situations, anyone with the correct port on their car can now use that charging unit to power their car battery.That can be prevented by turning off the power; either at the 220v breaker inside the household circuit box, or at the shut off box on the outside wall. This would probably be ok for occasional use, but I have heard that these switches are not really intended, nor built for, daily use. The exterior shut off box also has a protruding "staple" (of "hasp and staple") for using with a padlock. Other than shutting off the power manually, there may be some possibility that one can use the Charge Point App to restrict charging to a specific vehicle, and/or deactivate the charger between uses by that vehicle. I do not use the app, so... this is not something I can confirm.
      2) Theft: yes, this charging unit can be stolen by unplugging it from the exterior 220v outlet and unmounting the charging unit from the wall But that unmounting might be a bit of a challenge. Another option: the outlet box will have several holes that are designed to be used like a staple, i.e. you can instal a padlock which will prevent the "door" on the outlet box from being opened and the plug inside from being disconnected. Of course, padlocks are not a perfect solution, but they may provide some peace of mind.
      I hope some of this has been helpful.

      Hey Fabian! The Chargepoint Home Flex is still one of the best options out there right now for charging, so I would say yes, it is worth the price if you want a quality charger. There are cheaper options out there, but you get what you pay for. Hope that helps! Like and subscribe and happy charging!
