Steve Wright in the Afternoon’s theme tune will always mean so much more to me now, and it will always make me think about all the joy that he has given us through the year’s and how he could make a sad day at work joyful, as soon as I could hear his theme tune starting ❤ RIP Steve
Steve didn't appear to seek celebrity stardom. He just loved what he did and worked hard every day to ensure he did it to the best of his ability. We sort of knew it, but only now realise, just what impact he had on the lives of the audience he loved. There are so few people that leave this world having brought so much joy to so many people and for so many years.
Vernon Kay did very well to hold it together announcing this theme tune from Steve Wright in the Afternoon. This couldn't have been easy for him & his colleagues who were 'hit for 6' on learning of Steve Wright's sudden death last week! I still cannot quite believe that we will not hear Steve Wright's voice any more on the radio, was such a shock to hear of his sudden passing last week! No doubt about it that he was unique & a 'one-off' individual who just enjoyed what he did & made sure that it was enjoyed by many who tuned into his radio shows.
Lest not forget the genius of Anthony James - composer of the theme. IMHO - an important reason that SW stood out was the work of AJ. It was a "brand within a brand" - complimentary - but - distinctive.
A man who spanned generations. I remember as a young kid this them in the back of my grandads car. He died when I was 7 16 years ago, and until 2 years ago I could still hear this tune in my own car very special memories
Will always be an iconic and sentimental tune to me . Listened to Steve on Radio 1 1981 right up until his last show on 30 September 2022 his afternoon show Radio 2 . And looked forward to Sunday love songs the radio 2 airwaves will never be the same again . Was lucky enough to see Steve on the Radio 1 Road show 4 th August 1982 and a year later he did a Scottish gig 1983 Stewarton Community Centre with Simon Bates and Fluff Freeman . The jingles the sketches the Characters on his radio show all thru my youth from 18 I’m 61 now absolute radio Gold the memories will last for ever .
This video brings tears to my eyes -- from November 2016, when I first got hooked on to his afternoon show, Steve Wright was my most favorite DJ on online radio -- this tune opened his every show weekday evenings (our time)....Cheers from India ....Forever Steve
Steve Wright and his Posse were always at the top of their game. If radio was a sport Steve Wright would be called a world champion. I hope there will be some monuments of Steve Wright across the uk. With mention of Serious Jockin' Out of interest did Steve have any input to the theme tunes?
Serious Jockin' with no 'G' was always something I looked forward to listening to on a Friday afternoon on BBC Radio 2. Those funny intros by Steve Wright's prod squad & the great songs & tunes he played, he really got you involved as such! I liked the way he used to end those shows with 'This is DJ Silly Boi, peace we out as we drop the mic' & then the feedback afterwards. Great memories indeed.
Love the bbc radio 2 afternoon with Steve Wright awesome rip Shocking Wright died Few points Shocking that Wright has died think they will name a building after Steve Wright like they did with Terry wogan of wogan House think they will have the wright house Plus Shocking and shocking tuat bogh David Attenborough and Ruth langsford mother both late 90s are still alive which is shocking what's keeping these old people alive yet Steve Wright died what's going on😊
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but a negative opinion about a sound mix really wasn't needed or wanted by anyone watching and grieving about such a sad loss. In my opinion. This mix has presence, it is at the correct level, not distorted and you can hear every single instrument.
@@tasercs well, as a former afternoon boy on his show, former SM, now senior sound balancer this mix is dry and wrong! Not like the original in anyway! If we want to go further I think the playing lacks bounce, drive and cohesion. But hey. What do I know? As for Steve. He would have appreciated the gesture but squinted at the result!
The theme that will now forever evoke a million memories.
Thanks for each and every one of them Mr Wright,

Joyful and sad at the same time.
That was difficult for Vernon to say.

Shocking Wright died
Few points
Shocking that Wright has died think they will name a building after Steve Wright like they did with Terry wogan of wogan House think they will have the wright house

He had health problems unfortunately. Had a heart bypass op in 2022
He died before his father Richard who is 94 years old. Very sad indeed.
What a terrible sound balance!
