As a Spurs fan, I am both optimistic for the future and worried about the present. Our pre season has shown signs of what happened last season.. slow growing into the game and very leaky defensively. Ange is a good manager no doubt and very likeable, but I do worry about his my way or the highway tactics. Smart managers will know exactly what he has planned and then organise their team to take advantage, you can only play this set in stone style of football if you have a top squad in all areas and quality in depth, we do not have this. I do think it will come together but still a lot more signings to be made, we need a cdm and wide attacker as priority, then defensive cover and another high class attacker because I don't see big Dom hitting 20+ a season, he managed 9 in two seasons before last. Let's hope I'm wrong. He needs min 15 this campaign.
We’ve also had our whole back line out on international break most of preseason. I wouldn’t read too much into it. Still hoping for another left sided defender though for some better depth there this year.
I completely agree. It wasn't just the amount of goals we started shipping, but how many opportunities we gave opponents. Worryingly there were 3 constant sources - from mistakes from always playing out from the back, from holes in the midfield and from set pieces. I haven't seen that any of these have been addressed from the pe-season games.

I’m curious to see how Tottenham are going to perform this season. For the most part under Ange Postecoglu, they were very good last season and with how well they started the season, I didn’t expect them to mount a title challenge, we saw how he made an immediate impact on the team, their form later on ended up dipping as a result of injuries and a lot of starters were missing as they represented their countries at either the AFCON or Asian Cup in the middle of the season and their struggles towards the end of the season where they were dropping points and were losing games caused them to miss out on the top 4. Bottling it when it matters most, typical Tottenham. Anyways from 8th place to 5th place considering the fact that they lost their best player would be seen as a sign of progress for them even though they probably wanted to get champions league football as no one had expectations on them. This time around more will be expected of Tottenham since Postecoglu has a good squad and it’s very obvious on how he wants the team to set up given the signings that they’ve made and the amount of quality they already have in their squad. A successful season for them would be getting back to the champions league and also ending their 16 year trophy drought because as great as it is to finish in the top 4, many Tottenham fans want to see the team win some silverware this time around even though we say that about them every year. Heung Min Son is one of the best players in the premier league, James Maddison struggled for form after coming back from injury; he is a great player on his day, Dejan Kulusevski is such an underrated winger, they have a solid center back pairing in Cristian Romero and Mickey van De Ven, Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie are natural fullbacks and they’ve added more quality and depth to this team. Richarlison did a great job last season, in the striker position, they absolutely upgraded. In Dominic Solanke, they finally signed a replacement for Harry Kane and his transfer fee can be questioned since there are people who see him as a player who never made it at Chelsea or Liverpool, last season, he was one of the top scorers in the Premier League while playing for Bournemouth as he scored more goals than number 9s who played for much better teams than him. His presence in the team is going to benefit Son since as good as he was through the middle, his best position is when he’s playing on the left wing. Archie Grey is an exciting young player who bodes well for the team in the present and the future and he adds another option in their midfield and he is versatile enough to play in defense. They’re also going to probably make a couple more additions to their squad and if they can keep everyone healthy and their new signings click and their core players also perform to a high standard, then Tottenham can achieve big things this season as they could secure a return to the champions league and since they’ll be playing in 3 competitions, with the squad that they have, I’m not acting like it’s a world class team, but their priority should be to at least win a trophy as they haven’t won anything significant in years.
The worrying thing for Spurs is that the back 5 were probably the best players last season and they still conceded 63 in the league. Postecogleu completely changed the defence with Vicario, Udogie and Van De Ven coming in and the season before everyone was doubting if Porro was even a full back and should be played on right wing instead. Hopefully now he's got a striker who can press and a couple more options in midfield they won't be so open as last season. If he can get a trophy and top 6 finish that would be an amazing season. Just hope that if the results aren't that great initially Levy doesn't fire Ange as I think he's really trying to change the mentality of the players and club and that will take time. I really think if he gets a third season that's when Spurs could actually challenge for a few things

Unless Postecoglu addresses the problem of defending the far post Spurs will continue to leak goals. He doesn't appear to see it as a problem which is worrying. Unless it's fixed I don't see them winning anything no matter how may players they buy.
Spurs needs that type of winger who can take 1v1 easily even on the touch line as well. Caz they missed most of the chances just because of players were afraid of taking 1v1.
I don't think Son can play effectively out wide anymore. He just doesn't have that quickness he once had. Can't beat a man off the dribble. I thought when he moved to center forward that was actually a natural progression for him. Not too dissimilar to Ronaldo a few years back, he's still a great finisher, but just doesn't have that quick first step he once had. Additionally, Son is not an ideal winger for Ange's system. Ange's system relies on more traditional wingers that play out wide, trying to beat their man to the byline to put in crosses. Son has largely played as an inverted winger most of his career, playing further inside, looking to cut in from the left to get the ball on his stronger right foot and shoot. Kulusevski is also similar in this regard, which again, does not really fit the mold of a Ange-ball winger. As much as I like both of these guys, I just don't think they are the solution going forward and upgrades need to be made in those positions.
you should note that solanke will not only be a huge addition in attacking set pieces but also defensively, kane used to be so useful in those situations and solanke should hopefully be useful for us like that
Johnson is away better as a impact sub so we havev to get a top top winger on the right s a player with explosive speed and can beat his man and isint a fraid of any defender we could do with even2 wingers and also we need cover for our back 4 defenders towards the end if last season we were caught out to many times as we were found out against Munich granted we were missing 3 of our top defenders but still these first half defenders need to adapt because we will have injuries trough the season the amount of times Munich players were left unmarked at the back was scary and shows we desperately need another RW and not just any RB a RB that can cover for indoje and have experience and is quick to get down the line and can recover if the press breaks up we need at least 3 more top signings 2 wingers and a RB and also vicario is still making the same mistakes as last season great ball stopper but a top keeper these days has to fo more than just be a great ball stopper he has to command his box shout at his defenders shove forwards if the ball and if we are going to play fast attacking football out of the box every player has to be on the same wave length because 1 mistake and we are under pressure vicario made 2 errors in 2 games both carbon copy's where he tried to pass the ball out fast and got it wrong and cost us goals this has to stop city play this way and the difference is nite and day because there players no exactly what to do but if our players want to play the same they need yo get it bang on other wise we will be punished so hope vicario learns from these mistakes and start to make the right decisions when getting a press oit fast from the back and make sure he gets it right and our back up keeper foster hasent played a competitive games for months if vicario isint up to it or gets injured who are we going to call up foster is injured and is slowing down can we trust whiteman no first team experience so it wouldent duty rise me if we might see another keeper with pl experience come trough the door I like vicario but he need to take total command of his box and don't his mouth at the defenders and just shove forwards of the ball because if he dosent it will cost us goals and more importantly 3 points like last season

My concerns are Sarr and set-piece defense. I thought Sarr was underperforming for the last half of the season last year as he ran so much and covered so much area during the first half of the season. This pre-season though, I started doubting his basic touch skills. Well, I'm not really sure. And the SET-PIECE! This has been repeatedly happening and every time we concede a goal, there's a pattern. We need a good coach specialized in set pieces as Ange seems to have no plans for that. Other than these two, I believe we have great potential and I hope our forte overshadows my concerns.
Off topic probably as this is a Spurs video, but I think anyone can understand how interesting the combination of Kulusevski and Bergvall is from a Swedish perspective. The national team of Sweden has not performed well lately, but the problem is hardly lack of skilled players. Forgetting defenders, how would you build the team with access to players like Kulusevski, Bergvall, Isak (FW, Newcastle), Gyökeres (FW, immensely successful in Sporting Lisbon) and furthermore midfielders consisting of Forsberg (MF, former RB Leipzig star, now playing for RB New York), Hugo Larsson (MF, Eintracht Frankfurt), Svanberg (MF, Wolfsburg), Karlström (Attacking MF, Udinese, came from Lech Poznan), Karlsson (Attacking MF, Bologna) and Cajuste (DMC Napoli, possibly joining Ipswich on loan)? If you see the obvious solution here, you're a football genius! 🙂 Cheers from Sweden!
As a Tottenham fan, it is not great and not a top 4 or 6 team yet, they need to get eze, chiesa, David and a top class defender or central midfielder, if levy is serious, he should sign david chiesa asap
They’re a top 4 team. They were a top 4 team last year that’s proved out by their xG performances. They have enough centerbacks with Phillips and the Romanian coming in January. They don’t need a winger because they have Mikey Moore who’s ready to step in. The only need this team has is a back up for Udogie. Everywhere else is pretty well covered.

He doesn't have to change his whole ethos but what's the point of going a goal or two up and conceding 3?
Football is forever changing
@@RAJ-Jamcal People think that as long as the football is 'entertaining', the result doesn't matter. Who cares if you're playing 'attacking' football if you're not outscoring your opponent most of the time?
shhhhhh... we dont need to be in a spotlight. just want our young team to grow under the radar.
gonna be hard to be under the radar floating around the top 4 all season though lol I'm a Cherries fan, but look forward to seeing how he Dom does this year.
Im a spurs supporter almost 10years. I just hope they can win in my lifetime😢
As a LFC fan, I'm proud of Solanke!
It went down hill once vdv got injured
Unless Postecoglu addresses the problem of defending the far post Spurs will continue to leak goals. He doesn't appear to see it as a problem which is worrying. Unless it's fixed I don't see them winning anything no matter how may players they buy.
Spurs needs that type of winger who can take 1v1 easily even on the touch line as well. Caz they missed most of the chances just because of players were afraid of taking 1v1.
Coming off these 2 games against Bayern.. Spurs need atleast two quality. Not average
I wouldn't look too much into pre season games. Last year Chelsea won all of their games and look at how their season ended up.
We need a left back incase udogie isn't available 😭
The manu & Arsenal version of this video is gonna be crazy
They need to go out and prove that they are a very good side.
Set pieces are going to kill us once more, recent match just showed no improvements have been implemented
except vdv and romero and udogie weren't even on the pitch whn we conceded from those set pieces
Lazy analysis, probably just copied this opinion from Twitter. We didn’t have our defence on the field
you should note that solanke will not only be a huge addition in attacking set pieces but also defensively, kane used to be so useful in those situations and solanke should hopefully be useful for us like that
Need to be tighter at the back. Give away too many cheap goals
Did you watch till the end?
and we just signed wilson lets gooo
We're a new team. No doubt.
Only player I would want to united is bergevall
Honestly i think our team is not competing with the other big clubs in terms of the quality of players we are buying😢😮💨
The result we got Against Bayern is really underlooked.....If we pull out that sort of performance week & week out we'd be doing great ❤
Lucas Beddy Val is the most exciting
Now they have solanke
Yeah, scary with defensive set pieces. Pre season we look like we will let a goal in every 5 minutes.
Good 4th to 6th place team 🎉
I don't i just have this feeling that spurs might broke the curse and win the FA Cup this season
W Dan levy
Last season Spurs had no European footie, and got knocked out of domestic cups early. Basically, the players were working part-time.
Exactly, and they havent strengthened enough, hes just saying this for content, spurs will struggle next season
@@price6080 Totally agree. To compete at the current level domestically and in Europe you need bench players in rotation just as good as starters.
@@TS50ER yep but spurs buy quantity not quality, and people wonder why they havent seen success in 16 years, its down to poor transfer strategy

I hate to say it but I think they can win the league

Ho Ho Ho. Tell this to Newcastle.
Vardy Points to premiere badge and shows 1, points to crowd then to premiere league badge and shows 0 😂😂😂😂😂😂 smallest club
wasn't so scary today. fml.
David 🙏🏾
They’re a top 4 team. They were a top 4 team last year that’s proved out by their xG performances. They have enough centerbacks with Phillips and the Romanian coming in January. They don’t need a winger because they have Mikey Moore who’s ready to step in.
The only need this team has is a back up for Udogie. Everywhere else is pretty well covered.
Chiesa fit is class
Im not disagreeing but last year you would have gotten top 4 without any new players had the team not crumbled.

there is something about form and permanent class, Solanke has not been scoring thst amount of goals throughout. It's one season, him at a bigger club where those numbers are required to be consistent is a 50/50 chance.
@@otsilemogwera5804 in the season Bournemouth got promoted he scored 30 goals. It might be a one season wonder but I think the qualities he has + Ange’s system should help him tremendously
He hasn't been scoring that amount of goals because Bournemouth have been a relegation fighting team every season except recently under Iraola where they look to play seriously amazing football so he could score those goals right now he definitely has the necessary qualities to do amazing in this Spurs side
All of this to finish outside top 4😪
