This game reminds me of another "trading" game Splatt covered awhile back, of the ttRPG Ryuutama, and of The Banner Saga. The covered game was your character taking over a business from her(?) parent(s) and had a kind of cartoony art style, and looked very interesting. Not personally a fan of the art-style or some of the eye-rolling social-commentary fluff but the game has some good potential, a great premise and is fun to explore. The only real major gripe I have with it right now is that the game experiences heavy de-sync between players right now (even with just 2 players in a server), so if you get it to play with a friend or significant other like myself (or even just random strangers, as many tasks in the world require multiple people) then be prepared to lose some time figuring out if you're de-sync'd and one (or both) of you having to re-log - sometimes pretty frequently. It really breaks up the flow of an already slow-paced game. I hope they fix it cos the game is full of love and care and has the potential to be a real sleeper hit.

I feel like you really get to create your own person, and not in a way where it relies on you to come up with everything which is hard for me, but also not too little where all you get to choose is your name and how you look which then it feels too fake of a character
this has just enough story elements, where you can live what your traits are etc, where its a perfect middle between creating a character from scratch and creating a character within an established environment
like, I can see myself being able to come up with background bc its not just going off of 1 race which comes with its own history and lore. it's choosing from a bunch of different puzzle pieces and I get to fill in the blanks of my unique puzzle that likely no one else will have exactly
but yeah this game feels a little intimidating with the permadeath, that makes me a little anxious bc I know if I love the character I create It will be hard or even impossible to start up a new one if I die
but if I can try a demo and see, I might find that I'm OK with dying if I do. idk.
it definitely stands out, and feels like it's worth the risk of anxiety, because I think even getting in one good long game play would be worth the money even if I don't want to play again after dying
kind of excited for this and most likely going to get, if not full price then on sale
