Okay, he wanted an explanation:
Gaster unlocked his full power, Polychromatism, by draining Papyrus' magic. When Betty died, it allowed the HATE she consumed back in episode 4 part 1 to take her body as a vessel. Gaster is still alive, Papyrus seeing him fade was an illusion caused by the HATE. That thing is not Betty anymore...

After watching a second time, i realized whats happening to papyrus, the red glow in ghasters eye and the dust draining from papyrus’s soul is implying that ghaster was draining power from papyrus to basically buff himself, at least...I think.
Yes, normally to get his full power (polychromatism) both Papyrus and Sans would have to be dead. Sans was already dead so the only way to achieve that power would be to drain Papyrus's magic to completely annihilate Betty. If he had fired that final blaster Papyrus would probably be dead.

You're right, Gaster's power is weakened by Sans and Papyrus being alive, with one of their deaths he can merge his hands into those two giant hands and the giant Gaster Blaster, when both are dead he is capable of doing what we saw after Sans's death with summoning all 7 hands, 2 giant hands, and a giant Gaster Blaster, though to do this he substituted the death of both with the death of Sans and draining the energy from Papyrus's soul.
@@oost_javeln Yes, but Camila did say if Gaster were to fire that last shot, Betty's body would be completely destroyed. Without a body for the HATE to latch on, they would have no physical body, meaning the HATE would not have taken complete control.

In my opinion this was the best episode. Beautiful animation, awesome sound effects, great music, good character development, a nice wrap for problems from previous episodes (finally getting a conclusion for Asriel’s hate, Asriel uncorrupted, etc.), great action and fight scenes, and a cliffhanger having us begging for more. However this is my opinion and if you ding agree with that, I can understand.

Allow me to explain everything you didnt seem to get:
When Gaster had Sans and Papyrus, he gave them a portion of his magic. Therefore, he cannot use polychromatism (when he has purple eyes). Sans died, restoring 50% of the power he lost (25% of his full power). Then, Gaster (subconsciously I assume) drained Papyrus' soul about half way of it's magic to achieve polychromatism and destroy Betty.
Betty is dead. That thing at the end was all the HATE.
Edit: also Papyrus summoned all those blue bones because Betty was trying to escape
Papyrus could have just summoned half of these blue bones and it would still work
even when sans was "alive" he was living purely on the determination that gaster injected inside of him when he was fallen down. that's why he melts before his final death and is the same reason why he could overcome betty's blasters. gaster was still 50% stronger even when sans was alive, that's why after Dust (the episode in which sans' soul was taken by betty), gaster only has his red eye active when he uses magic. but you summed it up pretty nicely.
I have a theory that Gaster got rid of half of his magic Because he was to powerful for his own good, what makes me think this is when he was atacking Betty in his polychromatism form his soul started cracking up, and if Papyrus didn’t stop him he probably would have wound up killing himself..
@@elprimo8639 or just injuring himself until the pain from soul cracking made him pass out. He seemed too focused on killing Betty to care, but he would've collapsed eventually (with Betty even more dead than before). Then Papyrus is like "welp I don't think I can heal that" and we get ANOTHER wait to see if a character's gonna die

What happened with Gaster during the fight was he was draining Papyrus's magic in some way for his own. In the scene where he died I believe that was a "fear scene" used by "Betty" to lower Papyrus's guard
Gaster's power is linked to Sans and Papyrus, when they die he receives a boost to his power (with 1 dead he can merge his 7 hands into 2 giant hands and a giant Gaster Blaster, with both dead he can do what we say here with being able to summon all 7 hands at the same time as well), by draining Papyrus's soul like that he was able to achieve the same thing as if they both died.

IT just used fear on Papyrus, so he thought, that Gaster is dying. When Chara saves Papyrus from dying, you can see, that his eye was pink, and pink is the colour of fear.

OK CLARIFICATION TIME:
So Gaster killed Betty, Betty is dead and gone forever. And he was draining Papyrus’s soul to do it. But he stopped since it was killing them both. But since he didn’t fully destroy Betty’s body, the host of HATE. It took Betty’s magic that’s what that demon was. It then tricked Papyrus with an illusion that Gaster died. Then Chara saves him. And Chara will now use the HATE from Asriel to fight [insert name for crazy HATE demon].
The Hate Demon could be called Fate, I mean it's build of Fear and Hate.

Here's my theory about what happened with Papyrus and Gaster:
While "killing" Betty, Gaster was filled with hatred against her due to Sans' death. That HATE was reaching for his soul to take over, you could see the black tentacles reaching out to it right before he stopped. Papyrus felt that, even while Gaster was giving himself Papyrus' strength.
After seeing the black beast, Papyrus had a "fear vision", similar to what Undyne experienced before killing Alphys and Toriel before attacking Asgore - a power used to make them vulnerable. Gaster's death was a hallucination. This hallucination was broken by Chara who took the blow, and Papyrus found his way back to reality. You can clearly see it in Papyrus' eyes after Chara took the hit, the purple fear is leaving them.
About the black thing: It is the pure HATE. You saw it dripping out of Betty, who really wasn't herself anymore either, but rather just a vessel for all that HATE. Her element FEAR was destroyed by Undyne, the pink blob was that fear (only Determination can defeat Fear). That's what she meant with "between IT and you", you unleashed the pure hate that she was still fighting against. "Animosity" means "against", so after Chara absorbed the HATE in Asriel and overpowered - controls it, he is able to use the HATE against itself, hence why his eyes filled with it.
Only EP 9 will tell.

About the gaster part:
Gaster has stages of power:
His default power
Duality
Polychromotism (I might have spelt it wrong)
When he created sans and papyrus he lost duality and the other one and when sans "dies" in e2 gaster got back "duality" and what basically happened here is that gaster used Polychromotism when papyrus was still alive. Hence almost killing him. If gaster destroyed Betty's remaining body hate wouldn't have come out but papyrus would die

Good theory. But the fact it was that gaster was draining Papyrus powers to use polychromatins. To use that power he needed all of his magic and since magic is given from father to son sans and papyrus were holding the magic he needed. The cup breaking was representing Gasters sanity. Also. There was no hate involved in gasters anger. Imagine seeing your son die in front of you. You would toally react.

So, with the whole Gaster and Papyrus thing, he was taking his power back from papyrus.Since his powers were shared with Sans and Paps(when monsters have kids their power is shared through those kids) he is weaker than he should be. So since paps was alive he couldnt use his full power of his polychromatism, but Gaster can only have that power if Sans and Paps are dead and since Paps was still alive and Gaster was using that power Paps’ soul was starting to fade. In an earlier episode when sans died the blue flame flared then went out in Gaster’s eye. That’s because Paps and Sans are connected to Gaster through being his kids. That’s also why when he did the last Blaster it was Purple because he was using his polychromatism form. Thats why he was able to kill betty he was taking his power back from Paps and since sans is already dead Gaster already got his power back from him.Notice the only time his eye color is purple is when Sans is dead and Paps soul is fading. Again since his power was split when they were born, he started started taking his power back from papyrus and since sans is already dead, he already got the power back from him
For anyone who hasn't seen it: Camila herself stated that Betty is really gone, and that what we saw in the end was HATE. She said it was an entire different thing. You should watch the comments of the real video "Animosity" from Camila.
Oh man, I am so ready to see this.
Just noticed something.
The woman at 5:50 has a striking resemblance to the women at the end of Glitchtale Origins | Glitchtale Prequel Character: Kanashi. The hair colour is the most obvious similarity: white with strips of blue.
And while it’s not the same colour, she’s also wearing what looks like a robe. So did the women in the Origins episode. Why is the robe another colour? I don’t think that can be answered yet. But the fact that it’s a robe is what matters.
So there’s a connection. And I have a theory:
Let’s talk about what we perceive to have happened in that Origins episode.
A settlement of co-existing humans and monsters falls under attack by a currently unknown force.
Kanashi and his brother/dad (not 100% sure what their relation is) are caught outside a Kindness barrier, as a mystery man with a nose to be proud of gasses everybody inside.
Kanashi then wakes from a nightmare in an almost religious-looking building. But it’s a nightmare based on true events - he still has the doll after waking up.
His brother/dad consoles him, and it’s noteworthy that he now wears a similar uniform to the women in that episode that we see right after that. They’ve joined them.
It’s as if they’ve fallen under the protection of these people following that event.
Doesn’t that sound somewhat similar to Noah and Rave’s job? Protecting people?
If the mother is part of that group, then surely she’d want her children to go off and protect as many lives as possible, right?
Why would the mother be infuriated that Noah died instead of Rave? Besides being an awful human being, it’s because Noah was in charge of protecting a vast number of people. And Rave? He was a waste of oxygen in the mother’s eyes, since he wasn’t fulfilling that duty.
And if she’s part of this group, it means they’re still active. Which begs two questions:
1) How long ago did the events of Kakashi happen?
2) What are they even doing in the main storyline?
There’s a lot that we don’t know yet. But I think we’re on the right track to figuring it out.
I’m really excited to see where Glitchtale goes next - there’s a whole underlying story, a history to this world that we know next to nothing about.
And by God, when the next instalment drops, you bet we’ll be there to decipher it.
Underrated theory, finally not some meme, I noticed that too right away but didn't bother to jump into conclusions.
To answer the first question, the events of Kanashi Origins (the dream anyway) happens more than 1000 years ago since it was from before the war.
It's time guys, prepare your eyes for the most epic edit while gaster is destroying Betty.
Gaster didn't have much power at the end after his hands broke, he drained papyrus soul and then he look to be dead because the hate used fear on Papyrus

That’s because it wasn’t Jessica, it was raves mother. You can tell by the hair. Raves mother has cyan hair signifying the patience trait where Jessica has blue hair signifying integrity. Also Jessica didn’t have white hair either.
If it was Jessica, that would mean that Rave is her son, when in fact he is Brother of Jessica's Husband, also hair and the color of text don't match Jessica.

So I wanted to explain two things:
The first thing is about Gaster fighting Betty after Sans died for the second time
Camila once explained in the universe of Glitchtale monster don't age/age really slow because of their magic.
Monsters start to age like humans after they get children because in order to create new life they have to sacrifice a part of their magic and they get weaker.
But if the Child dies before the parents, the parents get the magic they sacrified for the child back
This is what happened the first time Sans died.
Sans died and Gaster got some of his magic back, getting stronger
When sans got revived Gaster lost the magic again and got weaker.
Then Sans died fo the second time, Gaster got the magic back.
Now this entire thing, seeing his son die twice and having a near death situations himself, left Gaster in a mentally unstable state.
What happened after we see the glas break at 29:41 was Gaster started to drain Papyrus' magic (since they're family the three are connected and can actually feel if one of them is close to dying)
Gaster drains Papyrus' magic to get stronger and stronger to almost the full potential he had, before he had kids.
That's why his eyes glowed purple and that's also the reason why Papyrus yelled Gasters name to make him stop (Paps didn't know what was going on at first) and that's why Papyrus was cracked before Gaster stopped
Second the creature we saw after Betty died
In the third episode Betty already almost died because of Undyne
But Akumu ate the hate vial which they had taken form Jessica, reviving Betty
The creature we saw after Betty died is hate missed with fear.
Also the hate has taken some of Betty's abilities that's why it looked like Gaster was dying.
Betty had the ability to make you see your worst fear and the hate took this ability
It made Papyrus see his greatest fear: Gaster dying
Gaster in reality tho wasn't dying.
He was just tired and knocked out.
Late reply but you're wrong about two things.
1. When Sans woke up at Gaster's lab, he was no longer connected to Gaster due to his fallen down state. Gaster essentially got his magic back from him again (You could see that he only had one red eye and no blue one when he was fighting Betty, since he was able to use Duality again). Sans could only use his powers now through the determination that Gaster injected in him, not through Gaster's own magic.
2. Papyrus stopped Gaster not because he was dying (Camilla has said that Paps was completely okay with dying if that's what Gaster needed to kill Betty), but because he could sense that Gaster's soul was cracking since he was overexerting himself. Had Gaster kept his last attack going, it would have killed him too, not just Papyrus.
Papyrus some episodes ago was innocent and bubbly, but the trauma he got this episode is probably the worst anyone went through
He saw his brother die
He saw a horrific image of Betty's corpse
He saw his father die*
And his pure face of FEAR when he was in front of Hate was heartbreaking
Gaster sometimes has the ability to use all his power at once and due to this his eyes turn purple and he can use all his hands and his massive gaster blaster. He also gets extremely tired after it though which is obvious. He can also SOMETIMES use the power from other souls that are linked or are like his as you saw in the video papyrus’s soul was fading of power and if you look carefully when he uses a ability papyrus’s eyes turn red as well.
My theory.
I also think you can defeat betty you just have to be strong enough to beat her and the demon inside of her.

Legit I saw the ep by chance when it came out and my first thought was "has zalzar watched this yet?" annoyingly I missed the premier but damn its still good to watch it anyway

I have a theory, at the beginning Gaster had purple eyes (like illustrated in one of the speadpaint made by Camila) then he had his two """sons""" Papyrus and Sans which divide his power in two so that's why he had one red eye and one blue back when sans wasn't dead and that's why Papyrus had his soul drained by Gaster during his fight with Betty.
The things that happened to torial and papyrus when there eyes were glowing pink is Bettys mind/fear control power were she makes you see things that you wouldn’t want to see. Don’t know how the blob of darkness at the end got that power from Betty since it technically isn’t her no more I think.

Betty is a spell with a will, not a person. So if I had to guess when Betty "died" only the will that controlled the spell and held back the Hate was what died, but the spell itself is still active and was taken over by Hate.

The hate gained Betty's abilities because it's the same hate Betty consumed during the fight with Undyne. The hate has been controlled by Betty until her death, causing the hate to take over. Without anything to stop the hate from taking over the body, it now has all of the abilities the host body had when it was alive.
HATE is using Betty's body. It's been trying to hi-jack her ever since Akumu ate the HATE vial. You see this earlier on in episodes. What happened is exactly what Betty says it is, Betty was holding HATE back and her dying means HATE can now fully enact it's agenda which is to kill everyone and everything. HATE is the true monster behind the Genocide runs and has been working in the background since the start.
To explain the part with Gaster, HATE (what Betty now is, because Betty is now dead and can’t control the HATE) made Papyrus hallucinate, like what Betty does to manipulate others.
Papyrus hallucinated Gaster’s death, so Gaster is not dead.

Papyrus was under Betty’s influence like Toriel was, and that’s why you saw the pink leave his pinprick when Chara was struck. It’s the same thing Camila did with Asriel when she took Sans’ SOUL- used their fears against them to make them numb and therefore unable to avoid the fatal blow, but Chara intervening “woke” Papyrus up and he saw that Gaster was really alive. Gaster’s death was his fear, understandable because he literally just lost Sans. And as for Papyrus being hurt when Gaster was attacking Betty, it’s because they’re linked.

I think the glass of water or whatever liquid is symbolic of gaster's sanity ever since Betty started doing things. Sans's 2nd death made the glass not just overflow but completely shatter. He basically lost his mind

Papyrus was under an illusion spell which made GASTER dissappear, and during the fight GASTER tapped into papys power and used it, hurting gaster because of the amount of energy used and almost killing papyrus because of his energy being used to its full potential
Gaster was just using his full power, Polychromatism, however Gaster's full power is locked by Sans and Papyrus being alive so to do it he had to slowly kill Papyrus, also probably why using his full power was damaging his soul, because he technically wasn't at full power and was just cheating.

This is called "Polychromatism" And I think it uses a kind of Link spell that takes a monster of his choice powers, which is demonstrated by Papyrus' Pain and loss if soul energy.
Polychromatism allows Gaster to use every single one of his attacks at the same time(the small hands, big hands, and gaster blasters) when normally he can only use either big hands or small hands(not both), and his blasters, normally he can only use it when he has his full magic(no children alive) but by pulling magic from papyrus's soul he was able to use it without papy being dead

Gaster was draining papyrus's soul to use that attack, that was what was happening to papyrus.

Gaster dying was just a FEAR vision induced by the HATE Monster immediately after its appearance. You can tell this from the pink effect that dissipates from around Papayrus' eye after Chara takes the attack for him.

Zalzars reaction when Gaster started walking towards Betty had me chuckling XD I got goose bumps to man, dont worry.
Alright, I feel I should explain some things that happened in this episode, mainly near the end, Animosity, is tamed hate, so Chara basically can use it whenever they feel like it, near the end when Papyrus started to basically die, was because Gaster was using Polychromatism, which like Duality, is a powerup, and he only gets these when Sans/Papyrus die, so to use that power, he was killing Papyrus to use it, the thing that spawned from Betty, is hate, and Betty was holding it back. When it Gaster started dusting, it was an illusion, as you can see when Hate tries to strike Papyrus down, some pink glow comes from his eyes, showing when Hate spawned in, it seems, like a user on the amino says, seems to have Betty's powers, but stronger, I theorize that the sphere of pink and black it spawned was this illusion magic that Betty uses. Hopes this clears things up for some people.
It's crazy how even a small amount of hate can cause total disaster and destruction.

I assume somebody already mentioned this by now, but Papyrus was affected by a hallucination when Gaster was fading (you can see the pink leave his eyes when Chara jumps in to shield him from Hate). As of now, Betty is dead but Hate has hijacked her corpse and can use her powers.

If I had to guess it would be more accurate to say Hate can use Betty's powers because Betty is a spell with a will, not a person, so Betty's "death" could very well just be the death of the spell's will, so Hate took over the spell which allows it to make use of the powers of Fear.

@@neroserda554 Yeah I read something about her confirming Betty's death, I just assumed she was talking about Betty's will and not the spell itself as that makes more sense to me considering Hate can use the powers of Fear which would be linked to the spell/soul, not the body.

This is my take on what happened
-When Betty used the spell that she had used in ep 2 or something to STEAL Sans magic
- Asgore suddenly had all those streng because he was consuming both Papyrus's and his soul
- The part where Gaster dye is just that thing's illusion
- "The thing" that Betty turn into is the hate that she absored

When sans had died the first time both Gaster and pap felt it I believe that the first death gave gaster a power boost and also the reason he dosn't have his blue eye back when sans wakes back up is because of sans' determination
In a sense I think sans and pap are connected to gaster
Gaster was sorta killing pap to make himself stronger separating his links unleashing his Purple rage magic
But that is my glance on it [I also heard this somewhere else can't remember where this is not my original theory]
