This looks similar to a Tao E1 500 ATV harness. I have a 3 speed selector issue where the speed selector changes the speed only for reverse. Forward is constant at a slow speed. Can you help me understand if something is wired backwards? I assume reverse typically doesn't change speed.

Sorry, i never worked on that model, and I can not give proper advice, not knowing wiring set up and color codes...But I'd I would be you, I would try to replace the controller. ( Make sure your battery is in working order and in good health. Otherwise, the controller will be giving all kinds of symptoms)

Good description of all the accessories on the speed controller ☺
I have put a litium 36v battery onto the quad as it was alot lighter but i think it was to higher amps for the speed controller so now dosent work at all 😮
If i put a 1000w cotroller onto the 500w motor will it be ok ?

@simontritton4131 You can install smaller controller to a bigger motor, but not all the way around, as motor might get burned. Better if you install matching power motor and controller

      Ok I see my battery is a 36v 8.8ah (316.8 wh)
So need a 1000w controller and a 800w motor maybe

Question: if you lose fob for alarm can you just disconnect it? Or will it lock out the motor?

@@KarpucMotoring it will work without remote, nothing to worry about, just start it with ignition key as usual

@@You-can-fix-it sorry one more question: since the power supply and the module are wired through the tail light if it is broken do you think it could cause a fault in the power? I am trying to power mine up w new batteries and get power at throttle screen (lights up), alarm, and lots of voltage at indicator connection left over but lights, horn, motor are not responding. My tail light is broken I am wondering if that can be it.

Let me rephrase the question. I know the motor works because if I put 48v direct to it it spins. What is the best way to diagnose what’s wrong if the throttle js not getting signal/power from battery. I get 48v at indicator plug. Where else can I check for power to locate the cause. I am beginning to think controller. They also seemed to have installed a cigarette lighter.
