the project existed for exactly a year. it was meant to be temporarily from the beginning. they were asked to write theme song for a fashion show in (i think) ukraine that year, and they literally called it 'fashion show'. i can't find the original runway performance but here's that song performed in lithuania ruclips.net/video/1K3UU4HWN10/видео.html. they also have a song 'revolution' about events in ukraine 2006 (our countries get along nicely). other than that they all came back to their separate careers.

Yeah, they kind of look like the guys from Georgia in 2018, and one expect that kind of performance... not this... But the unexpected is one of the things I love about ESC.
It was a joke entry but a unique one. No one did that before in such manner, they mocked the contest the same way Mons and Petra did it couple of years ago. And not in a bad way. I think it was funny and certainly very memorable. And they deserved their place.
We are very ok, this performance got 6th place for Lithuania. And we can feel a little bit like winners, it's a very good place! It means Europe liked this troll song, and guys reached their goal. 😎😄

Of course they got booed by the hardcore eurovision fans in the arena. But most of the people don't take Eurovision that seriously, that's why this got so many votes. Back then eurovision was a shitshow anyway. IMO this is one of the best troll acts in Eurovison history.

Loved you reaction, Jake. A bit of context - all the guys in the group are successful performers in Lithuania and they just got together for this act. Of course, it was a joke and while they were not the winners, they came 6th and that was the closest we ever got to the top spot so far.
If I remember 2006 was the hight of "joke" songs in Eurovision, that was also the year Lordi from Finland won. If you watch the hole 2006 Eurovision you'll see a lot of weird songs.
I love this song, especially the part where the baldy starts his uncle dance. And you know that whoever wins Eurovision for Lithuania is OBLIGATED to sing this. Imagine if Ieva had won with her soft quiet voice.
Me and my best friend sang this all the time after it was broadcast, we were obsessed 😂 The further back in time you go, the more silly and funny the entries there were in the grand final 😂
public in arena booed but public at home got the joke and voted for this! it ended up in 6th place and is to this day the best lithuania's result at esc. actually few joke songs were accepted as good as this one (except for verka serduchka of course). as lithuanian and one of those that requested this reaction i must say that each of these men have and had had before 2006 very successful separate careers in lithuania. they are each professional vocalists/musicians/producers/etc. they have made lt united project specifically for that year's competition and it worked like a charm. i remember them saying in all the interviews that it wasn't about them winning eurovision but about them bringing song for other winners to chant. not my favorite personally but the concept was good.
I see why You are confused. Just keep in mind, that after they switched over to televoting in the late 90s, the number of novelty acts was skyrocketing. During 2003-2009 acts like this one where relatively common.
I like that there are troll acts in Eurovision sometimes, I like the variation of people taking it very seriously, and in it to win it, and people who are just there to have some fun with it. Except the winners, it's usually the troll acts, or the novelty acts or whatever you call it, that is remembered.

These guys wrote real anthems for the Lithuanian people. We loved how these truly serious ARTISTS got together to put this Joke Act and got us the highest place yet! It’s very sad that so many people misunderstood this

It's pretty awesome that this is a countries best result ever :D It was the time people were pretty negative about the contest, block voting and stuff, so they voted often for joke entries (2007 Verka also an example)

Haha! It's not Eurovision withoutbt weirdness. Another fun one you should do is 2014 Iceland - they sent a kids music group modeled on The Wiggles, and everyone thought it was a crash-and-burn troll act, but they actually did a really good job and made the grand final.
