Old truck turbos didn't run a wastegate. Like you said, the fuel limits the boost

Best thing ever was disconnecting the waste gate on my silver top TD42, and then wildly adjusting the fuel for more giggles.
She’ll be right 560000kms on my td 12mm 30psi of boost for years now loving life

live loud 230hp at 26 psi haven’t had it dynoed on 30 psi
I did a waste gate delete and saw similar results. I also installed a flow threw 7psi lift pump from aeroflow and got a noticeable difference between 2500 and 3500. Big surprise was it sounds better up in the revs

You can buy a 230hp pump from Diesel Central/Diesel Pump Caboolture which are both in QLD. I got mine for $2750, fitted and tuned.💪Loving the GQ videos btw, keep them coming.

That will still open like said.. me I used a cable tie well two of them.. it will never open.. With my system comes with much responsibility. The driving style these guys use I wouldn’t advise doing it.. Great work guys..

G turbo are efficient up to 30pounds, most td42 turbos are free spooled and making more power then this...
The MK 3.3turbo had the pressure relief valve on the inlet,this bloke in the singlet has got a wise head on him.

Waste Gate will still open at spring pressure of actuator, can definitely boost more, lock the gate valve shut 👌
That’s the one haha wire it shut, gut full of fuel and then see it go 😂 all they did here was let the turbo act under spring pressure
These engines are great fun, mate had a td27 with a wound up fuel screw and a shut wastgate, the thing was on 20psi and it did skids in 3rd. He ran it for years like that befor he killed it in a skid comp after winding in the fuel screw even more, he said it got to 27psi but im sceptical haha.

With the method you used the turbo can still push the wastegate flap open under boost, if you really wanted to disconnect the wastegate then you would also tie the flap shut so it cant open.
Yeah true, however i don't think we were making enough boost for the flap to even open, maybe at like 30psi
@@AussieArvos possibly but could also explain why you were getting a couple extra psi as it was overcoming the spring pressure. I'm by no means an expert just intrigued by the experiment. To me if your running a 10psi spring for example it would only take a couple psi more pushing on the gate flap to overcome the spring and cause the boost to creep up slighlty.
@@SounDogDj just cause the intake sides at 20 psi doesn’t mean the exhaust side is aswell it’s probably only maxing at 10 or so, even lower , dan says thats there not alot of psi on the exhaust side , 20 psi gotta go through a whole bunch of valves closing and opening and the exhasut side also has the turbo tibine sucking air through so the pressure wont equalize
if it was the same pressure both sides they’re would be no advantage
So yes at some point exhaust pressure will lift the gate but this turbo is factory rated for up to 30 pound using a bleed valve so the gate will not open under exhaust pressure until past 30psi

Compressor surge in a diesel? How is there back pressure to cause comp surge with no butterfly? All you have done is maxed out the range of the turbo. ( 23psi) Not trying to be a internet warrior. Just lookin for discussion other wise liking ya videos keep em coming
cos we are running high boost the engine cant dissipate all that air when if falls in rpm so what cant go through engine surges it but is does it on both ends can be really bad but as u said we arent running that mutch boost so it only does it a little can barly hear it when it does do it
Surge is when the boost slams back into the compressor wheel, commonly makes that turbo flutter sound. This can be fixed by a blow off valve.

Do us a skid in the ba..barra the world boys.ive got a ba 2 with 6spd and I cracked her open put in some rods from atomic,oil pump gears,valve springs,4"turbo back exhaust.660cc injectors plazmaman fuel rail fg manifold process west stage 2 intercooler hot side pipes and modified cold side to suit manifold she goes nuts eats LS,s easy..gotta be one of,if not the best 6cyl ever built

interesting.. I have been running a 12mm pump at 200kw and no rebuild yet. dosent even do the apparent kettle trick and it lives up in cape york
More boost makes them last longer if tuned right

Why not just put a cummins b4.5 in it? You don't need to mess with the fit so much but they'll still make 800+nm with a hx30 turbo upgrade. The internals are all rated to 1000 ft lb from memory as well so just try and brake it
That coment about 12mm pumps is rediculous and super inacurrate build properly not like half ass hicks and tune properly and it will last forever

bit of old skool advice,keep the nissan 4.2..do not,,,get the cummins,it weighs 16 ton,& doesnt make that much power.IF,you want a decent diesel,get the duramax,6.6 lly,lbz.or upto 2010.the whole shooting match can be had for 16k,,inc.,box,pedals,comp,all acessories..in a crate,ready to go..or,,IF,you want a 6 cyl,with more power than the nissan or the toyota v8,go find an MWM SPRINT.4.2tdi.no computer,no glow plugs,german engine g/box,std has 510 nm,140 kw..mine,with a td06,has 168 kw,700 nm.....go toyota,,yeeehh..theres a re clocking adaptor yopu can get,or male,to change transfer from left to right drop..cant beat those yanks,eh..

I drove around for 6months with the gate blocked and fuel turned up on my gu and hit 25psi on the factory 10mm pump and ht18 turbo
Wow mate that's impressive, I didn't know the ht18 was capable of pushing 25 psi
Efficiently the ht18 is not but it is possible if you have enough fuel
