Thanks Dustin, you nailed it, my truck is now fixed! Here's a quick test to see if this is your problem. Take the actuator off like Dustin says, then plug it in and turn the key on. When you move the heater control you should see the actuator rotate. If it doesn't, it's dead.
ive been searching for months through forums for this temporary fix and never checked out any videos, i saw your repair video first and then this popped up and you sir are a legend! advanced wanted $154 for the part, the part you got on amazon is down to $26 now!!
I just repaired my A/C automatic blend motor assembly by disassembling the unit, inspected the gears, inspected the large final drive gear and its copper fingers that slide on the variable resistor pad. I put more tension on the copper fingers and used the surplus lube from inside and applied it to the gears. Reinstalled the unit and started my 2012 GMC Sierra with the A/C on, varied the temp setting cold to hot and back again, IT WORKS! Just my time and no parts.
Awesome video thanks so much! I disconnected my negative battery terminal as well and yeah heat is stuck on! Ordered a new actuator and hopefully that fixes it!
I had this actuator malfunction on our 1994 Suburban (clicking noise from bad gear, shop replaced). And our 2005 Yukon (clicking noise from bad gear, I replaced). And recently on our 2014 Yukon (no clicking, I cleaned out and re-installed the actuator). I needed a 7mm socket to remove the black cover. And I needed to grind down a 5.5mm socket shorter at both ends or use a cut-down 5.5mm nutsetter and 1/4 inch combination wrench to R&R the screws for the actuator itself. Why I'm posting: for the left-most actuator screw, it was easier to access from the driver footwell, in front of the console; one can actually see that screw from that side.
My 2003 Silverado troubles began when #5 fan speed setting quit. Then the control for the dash, defrost, floor etc quit, now I’m having this issue with only hot air blowing on both sides. WTH?
The issue I’m having is when a passenger gets in and adjusts the passenger side climate, how do I get it back do dual so I can can control both sides from the driver side?
I just shut truck off and restart or remove the hvac fuse from side fuse panel (can't change hot to cold if you remove fuse and you have to do it while in cold mode), but since it's so easy... guess I'll fix it. Thanks
So when I turn my heater on, the driver side still blows cold air even with the heater turned on. Is this the same problem? Is that the passenger side actuator I need to replace?
Same thing in my Avalanche. Seems to reset itself each time I start the engine. Sometimes it sets itself to full hot, and sometimes it works normally. Almost seems more like a controller issue that an actuator issue.
Someone on u tube may have a fix that you can do manually for summer months and then change back for winter months. Keep searching if you don't want to pay a bunch of money.
@@ricknelson4793 We just replaced the controller unit today. After a couple of recalibrations it seems to be functioning as it should now. All of the actuators are working as well. Pretty easy fix without taking the whole dash out.
My Chevy Silverado was doing the same thing, the driver's side was always full hot, and the passenger side was cold. I ordered and put in a new actuator, and the driver's side now works great, but instantly as soon as I put in the new actuator the passenger side went bad and now permanently blows hot.
Hi everyone my actuator Was broken the main wheel i went to junk and i just get one but works for 10 min and same issue i swap the main wheel and set up Installed and solve the problem Good luck 😅😅

Replaced this part on my 06 Silverado 2500, works like a charm

I’d love to know how you get that far left screw back in that holds up the plastic shield.

Still Useful today. Thought my AC broke when and checked the passenger side Ice cold. Got Cold back on my side till i get the part
My driver's side is cold and the passenger is hot when running heat! do i change same actuator
No for the passengers side, unfortunately is the inner top actuator, that one if a bit more difficult to replace, whole dash comes out for that one
what is the link to the amazon for this product?

Thanks brother worked for my 03 gmc

Good idea
Worked for me, thx
So when I turn my heater on, the driver side still blows cold air even with the heater turned on. Is this the same problem? Is that the passenger side actuator I need to replace?
My air messes up on the driver side but when I turn my truck off and turn it back on it fixes it. You think this is the problem?

@@NJP76 I was told it’s the vent door. They gotta pull the dash out to get to it

@@ricknelson4793 sounds good, it went fully out a few weeks ago😂
So do you have to take the actuator off to turn it?
