Froze my bollocks off watching this - the dominion theatre did not put the heating on. at one stage roy prizes his frozen fingers off the fret board! WONDERFUL!! Had front row tickets - unforgetable
I was at ths concert at the Dominon Theatre in 1990 only because someone i knew had a spare ticket. Never heard of Roy before but loved him ever since. It was freezing cold in there and I think the same day Maggie Thatcher resigned.
Maggie had switched the leccy off in there lol, I believe they had heaters but chose to leave them off for everyone to freeze their nuts off, including Roy, so hats off to everyone for coping with that.
Roy: "I've prided myself all my life in being an immoral man, insofar as I can see the horrible spectre of the moral nightmare that we could be part of... that we are part of." Wendy's cashier: "So... do you want fries with that?"
@@martinamanecke3622 You are right, in that it is not a cover. In fact, David wrote the music - I think very much in the style of Roy, deliberately - and Roy wrote those so-powerful lyrics. My favourite song by both David AND by Roy - and together they wrote a masterpiece.
Im aN IDIOT.hATS OFF TO rOY ??? tHE bRITISH MUSIC SCENE HAS A LOT TO ANWRER FOR. This guy is only mentioned on Zep 3 , for me. Why have i only just found this on u tube. I KNOW ITS ON VOL III Hats off.
Writes Forbidden Fruit and manages to dodge full court examinations for 5 out of 7 of his sexual abuse charges, but has the gall to talk about morality.
You muppet you wouldn't know genius if it bit you on the arse. All those conceited bores Pink Floyd have produced is the endless gravy train of staduim rock shite. Boring crap for the bores that follow them. Roy is a poet, one who may be unknown largely but wouldn't have it any other way. It is called integrity. Just listen to that utter wanker Roger Waters, utter public school toss pot!
Gilmour's version off his first album is good but this song would never have come about without Roy Harper's collaboration on that album. This is pure Harper. Gilmour never could and never has written a song as good as this, with or without the help of his wife. As for Roger Waters, he one of the few lyricists to compare to Harper. Different style but heartfelt content. To finish and use an Irish expression. Maynard is talking through his hole.
Harper and Gilmour are just part of a tribe...angels that hold up the message...
I'm in a Roy mood at the moment, that's because I don't have the words to express what I'm feeling...and he does! Hats off to you Roy.

Roy Harper is a Spirit who came to this world to being a very important message.

Love this song so much... ever since I first heard it on the David Gilmour album over 10 years ago ❤😊
same !!!
Pure magic, Roy is one with his guitar, true communion.
You got ir man. What times that that we are all living in-20 2effing3.
This is how I remember watching Roy. ❤️
A performance primal and pure, in spite, nay, because of its imperfections. After so many years I now understand 'Hats off to Roy Harper'. Bravo!
Takes me back to the early 70’s when I saw him in Bristol at Colston Hall, brilliant 🤩
Sincerely - This Man it's Echo of the whole Orchestra!!! Fantastic! Thanks!

An amazing amazing beautiful day. I was there.
A fabulous song by a fabulous singer songwriter!!
I love it
good video
top song
top performance
best singer
❤✌
Long live Roy
I would love to know what he's playing through to get those droning sounds.
Thanks for posting this. The live version with Gilmour is really great and this, though different, is just as much.
What matters is that was written for the moral men...
Hat's off Roy.

Wonderful cover from a great man. Dave would like it
The song (the words of course, too) was written by Roy Harper. When you check it out, you will know.

Magnificent!
Different than the Gilmour/Harper version- haunting in its quality.
Merci

Weird seeing him without a beard or mustache. Great!
He's okay

What year is this from?
phantastic phaser-effects, or maybe flanger. anyway, very unique
Sounds like a flanger yes, a mix of phaser/chorus
no, that was 'laughing inside', from garden of uranium
was there a version of this called "rough and ready version"
☮️❤️🎼
Nick played Penzance Friday.
Highlight of the year, apart, of course, from Brexit.
"A graveyard with bus stops" what a thinker 🐵🐒
This was a Harper/Gilmour collaboration? Sounds like pure Harper to me - from a writing point of view. Anyone have the definitive answer.
The writing credit is for both (Gilmour--Harper) on Gilmour's self-titled solo album and on Harper's "Unknown Soldier".
David wrote the music; Roy the lyrics.

Les Floyds doivent beaucoup à Roy Harper .Syd Barrett c' est inspiré de son ami Roy , pour fonder le Floyd .
I thought this seriously sounded like the beginning of a pink floyd song, and then found out why.
But it was written by Roy Harper, of course.
@@martinamanecke3622 Except it wasn't. David wrote the music, Roy the lyrics.
I can hear a bit of Gilmore here
They are friends for a long time and did this song (written by Roy) on stage together.
@@martinamanecke3622 I sew them on RUclips a while back.
No surprise, since he wrote the music!

Even gonna mention Gilmour at all Roy!?
Better than Gilmour....any day....sticks to his guns.....unlike the men of the Floyd
David Gilmour cannot sing, shadow of this man. Better to stick to guitar! Roy's the man!
David Gilmour can't sing???
omg just butcher the song, jesus gilmour seems like god when compared to this
Gilmour is a pygmy compared to God Harper. A shadow.
lmao, and this is why you don't do drugs when your pregnant people. look at this poor guys statement

@@charlieost pretty sure Gilmour wrote the music.
