- German army group ration menu 1 is designed for 6 men and it is a loooooot of food. It is much different from the individual EPAs, but interesting. In terms of taste it is a strange mix of excellent dishes and much less excellent items. This menu contains a typical German dish - Kassel
It contains actually only food, the drinks are a separate pack, which is quite expensive and doesn't make sense for me to try.

Awesome set of rations friend! I hope all is well. Drinks in A different ration pack? That is different. The extra spices are cool. Preparing the food you fixed, not as simple as regular MRE, but variation from norm, would be nice. When all items combined, that made A nice tray of food. Looks excellent, especially the pork. The chocolate and chocolate mousse ,looked good as well. Thank you for letting us watch something new. Nicely done, Peace, John.
Thanks John, indeed, the amount of food was enormous -I guess much more than in a single meal ration

I heard somewhere (I think it is a German Company) that is making instant bier. They got the most of it to work. The only thing they were still struggling with was how to at the alcohol to the rehydrated bier.
Without risking people drinking the pure ethanol as schnapps instead? :D

No way. “Kassler” is salted and smoked pork meat (neck) and not turkey…😉
I wonder if the mono- and diglycerides caused that weird "creamy" taste in the potatoes. That's common additive to cheap ice cream, and adds a taste and mouthfeel a lot like sweet milkfat.
You may be right, the ration was half year past best before date, could it enchance this flavor?
@@deliciousMRE It's possible, but I've never experienced it myself in savory food. Of course, they don't state which "Aromen" they use, and I don't know German labeling laws for flavoring compounds derived from potential allergens, but milk-derived "natural flavors" are very common here in the US, for milky flavors and for meaty flavors. I'd speculate a slight staleness of the dried potato and/or some of the flavors could be perceived as sweet milky flavors in combination with the emulsifier.
Was there 2 packs of each?
almost-there were 3 packs of the kassler,two different sauces (so 1 pack each), the rest was doubled, about 12 chocolates
How did the mash taste fried?
Well, a bit better, I added smoked bacon, but I couldn't avoid this this strange "creamy pudding" sweet after taste/smell
