Many years ago I learned energy management in the 109 from your CloD videos, and it made me a much better sim pilot.
    Good to see you're back!

I've been flying primarily 109s in IL-2 and DCS for many years and I've still learned some new things in this video. Amazing flying!

I didn't even know the P-51D's rear-facing radar warning device actually works in this game. It does in DCS, but I've never heard it in IL2 before. I'm gonna test that tonight. Thanks!

      @Darrylx444 Год назад +2

I just checked. The IL2 game does not actually model this radar device currently. It's not there.

Are you Sure? When I flew the P51 a couple of days ago, I had that warning. But maybe it was something else.

@@Apeoftheyear Yes, I am positive. Tested in single-player. No sound with a six, and the warning lamp isn't mounted on the left side of the dash either. Also no radar antenna sticking out of the side of the rudder like in DCS. No option listed in setup either.
I think maybe you just heard the low-throttle warning buzzer?

Ok that was probably it then. Sorry for the wrong info, and thank you for your correction!

Thank you so much. I've been so confused jumping from the DCS K-4 to the MW-50 equipped 109s in IL-2, wondering why I'm at the WEP ATA range but the MW-50 pressure never builds.

Good job. In the Il2 the warning radar for the P51 Is not implemented. That feature is in DCS.

I can add a video made by one of our squad members papafly about issues with FM, the video is 3 years old but it is still the same.
    ruclips.net/video/Z3kiLBCHJiI/видео.html
-I want to note that on the regular k4 if you switch between 100% and lower power setting and back to 100 % the engine may die. And that is very bad because in a dogfight you want to power up and power down. When the engine upgrade is available in the k4 this is not a problem.
-You need to pretrim in 109 if you are at high speed, let's say you dive at 600 km/h and want to make a tight turn, unless you are at trim 0, you cannot make the turn. While all allied planes can make more instanatious G than any 109. The next thing is that allied planes have more negative G authority. A spit can make -4 up to -5G at high speed and you cannot get him. Basically the allied FM is bad, and this is the situation. This is not a conspiracy theory everyone can push the stick and see the numbers.
-Also we made a test for shallow dive between p47 and a Spit, the p47 could never outrun the spit in a dive. That means that in a dive even a Spit can stay with you, and they loose inertia very slowly.
-Another trick is to trim negatively the stick so it can make arround 0 G for maximum acceleration in a dive.
-Hopefully not that many virtual pilots understand those details and can make use of them but those problems exist and the only way to cope with that is to have a team mate.
-with engine damage in the 109 you need to power down in order to get the engine running for longer, 60% and below.
-if you switch below 100% and preferable 60% you can regain some emergency power time limiter.

@@Apeoftheyear This is a game after all. The problem is that historical tactics do not work here, like evade from a Spit with negative G. Spit will never loose engine from negative G even with minus 6. Even in the oldest game that could not happen. The fact that a game is newer and eye candy does not mean that it is more realistic. Do not get me wrong I love il 2 and that is why I critique with passion.
Our squad we were playing with icons, however we want a different challenge and we decided to switch to full real. However we have a transition period in which we suck, despite beingable to make mayhem on Berloga. It will not be a bad idea if we can join forces for some sorties .

RUclips has disabled personal messages it seems. Sure we can fly together, but ill be gone for a week now. Do you have the game on steam? If so tell me your name ill add you.

Agree with 27 Korny. There are some FM issues with energy retention in the game. Diving differences and energy retention in Zoom climbs are not really a factor when using tactics. Control authority in the plane is also overdone at low speeds which makes the problem worse since in the apex of the hammerheads the guy behind still can easily keep the nose up and retain control at very low speeds way below stall to aim at you. 109 is one of the hardest planes to control at slow speed in hammerheads but try for example lagg 3 with flaps nose up and you will be surprised haha. Many planes with flaps gain a ton of stability and control. Regarding turning with the 109 on the other hand is really good at medium speeds. The reclined position of the seat makes it really difficult to shake from behind if you have a plane without G Suit. So if you are in a spitfire at 550-400 and you try to outturn the 109 you are going to end dead because he will keep behind while you are in the G limit to lose consciousness. So you need to go to speeds where they turn or roll really bad (over 650) or lose speed and give them the energy advantage so they can disengage the fight. In late planeset in my opinion the best planes are the P51 and the K4 with DC engines. The tempest as well if you know how to use his broken FM.
