This is the best let's play commentary playlist i've seen on youtube! Also, you have a very good voice and calm mindstate to make it more interesting... you're good at this I like this alot!
Right ... makes it so much easier for people with no time or money (to buy whatever is needed) to play the game to enjoy it. Most of the JRPGs that I've played were always kind of played in a collective, there were one playing and many watching (way back then, last one I've played was FF IX).
Gamefaqs were around, and were comprehensive! I never had a PC back then so went to a mate's place, finding out how much of the game was left after completing the main story, and he printed out someone's guide. It was huge! Put a smile on my face when I came across the print out a couple of years ago, also covered in my own notes from back then 😁
Yea go for FFX-2. I do want to see it even though I am playing the game as well and watching you if I've missed something. I never got the 100% in either game
I can see that exchange going well. Tidus: Oh well, he had a heart attack! Trommel: Why is his chest split open like that, and why is he covered in burns and wounds? Tidus: Uhhhh, yeah....well. Auron: Pyreflies. Trommel: Oh. Well.....I guess that makes sense.
Getting 100% in X-2 is pretty hard. I've only ever gotten 99% and then there's Via Infinito which is next to impossible. I'm pretty impatient so I've never got to the end of it. It would be nice to watch you do X-2 if only to hear your commentary. But, if it's only going to give you a headache I'd say never mind.
I think my best is 99% too. Or 98%. I managed to get through the Via Infinito, except I couldn't beat the final boss. There's too much damage, too much speed and there's too much luck involved in winning.
Drahcir0017 It's been YEARS since I've played but that's probably where I got to too. Either that or the boss right before that. I can't remember. I just remember being really ticked. xD
+Emi Gurumi It was hard getting into X-2. First time I played it seemed like they stretched the story and the whole outfit changing with your party was a bit much I felt
I also think that X-2 commentary from you would be really fun to watch even if it is "incomplete", but seeing as both games are fairly time consuming I can understand why you might not be motivated enough to do it. But at the same time if you keep referecing X-2 like you have for Machen and Clasko damn right people want to hear your thoughts on X-2 after that. I think a series on X-2 would work well because it is so completely different in tone to X. I have always thought of X-2 as an interesting take on what happens after the credits roll on X. It can really make you cringe at times but for every one of those times there is something either about how Spira or the people in it changed after the events of X that makes it worth it. I would probably watch X-2 just because I know it can make me laugh one moment and be all serious the next. X never really managed that and honestly compared to the sequels of XIII X-2 is a freaking masterpiece.
It might also be relevant to mention that there really aren't any commentary playthroughs of the remastered version of X-2 out there that I could find. The only ones I could find were without comentary and one was with cheats of some kind which kinda make it bad for entertainment (it might be good as a reference material, but certainly not something to watch for fun).
Markus Willman I know its 3 years since you made this comment, but if you still interested in X2 you should watch StarDrop’s walktrough. He’s done a 100% guide of X2 and is quite entertaining as well. 🙂
I really don't understand the point of the Cloister of Trials. It's virtually impossible to do these blind. You have to have step by step instructions, remember every step from the last time you did it, or spend half a day with trial and error. In any case, it's no fun If they had puzzles that made sense - puzzles that you could figure out, but they don't make any sense and you have no idea what a sphere is for and what it's going to do
FFX 2 will be good anyway even if you don't know where the secrets are. It will be a learning experience for us and you and that's what I think makes a lets play truly fun to watch. So please FFX 2 :D
Thank you for doing the puzzle I remember playing this game a while back and I'm be the first to tell you that I'm not the sharpest knife in the shed in fact I'm on borderline autism so it takes me a while to do things properly especially with clues and when I did this the first time it took me a long time to figure everything out but in this case you you really did help me out and I really appreciate it thank you
I always enjoy giving Rikku Thundaga (I power level by this point in the game) because I find it funny she's scared of thunder, and plus for any underwater fights in the future.
Lulu is not a waste if Yuna learns black magic. When fighting elemental, or enemies weak to magic, it's good to have more than one person to use. In turn it's good for Lulu to have white magic so you don't just have to heal with Yuna.
Yup I remember stepping on that by accident pad and having to rebuild the bridge yet again... >.< I think using the other black magic sphere to teach Yuna the mp equivalent of drain would be pretty cool once Lulu learns it :3 (I think its called osmose or something like that)
It's a smart idea, but Wakka is the one who learns it. Ideally you'd want Yuna AND Lulu to learn Osmose, it can come in handy sometimes if you're spending a long time grinding or fighting a tough Boss.
dansg08 Ahh well in that case I guess Yuna would benefit more from the sphere seeing as Lulu and Wakka are very close together on the sphere grid. Its been so long since I've played this game, I wish royal mail would hurry up and deliver my copy already! x.x
Especially since ixion came up (rather than ramuh) I was afraid they were going to put some random ice creature I didn't know in her place. (And yes, I am unable to play this so effectively, this commentary playthrough is my first encounter with the story).
Okay, about the cloister of trials here. How would you do this if you got in the "right" way? I mean, you are doing this backwards this time right? Usually it is "Do trial, get aeon" but now it is backwards. :-P
just like to thank you for this i know u made it a long time ago but i have this on ps4 and have been trying to get passed the aniema for a long time i will continue to watch the rest and continue playing as im a huge fan of the ff franchise
Actually, I think my first question at this part was "if only the summoners and guardians (and I would assume Seymour since he's a high priest/maester) can enter the cloister of trials since its taboo" what the hell are the Guado doing coming in right after the fight? The priests in Besaid clearly couldn't enter the cloister even after Yuna had been in there for a day, so why are Seymour's servants allowed in?
Well, first off Seymour's not really a good example of a 'model' priest, and secondly he's the high priest here, so he was probably used to bending the rules a lot. I mean, it's not like there were a lot of people here watching his activities in Macalania. Makes me wonder what other stuff he got away with...
True, but there were other witnesses there too - Oaka was there and Shalinda... but yeah, that would have been my first thought. What else has Seymour done that we don't ever know about?
Yes, you go to the statues at Baaj Temple and press x in front of each to check if the destruction sphere has been obtained for that temple. Check the Anima or Baaj temple related part to see what I mean. If the statue doesn't light up you are missing that des. sphere.
i used to use the escape to grind a bit seeing in the ps2 version cause they were endless and i think that goes for4 the pc version but its been awhile since i played the pc version
I would honestly call it a dick move giving me false hope on not having to do another cloister of trials, but that's just me. That and playing constant trial and error with this one particularly.
I love this part of the game, but wish they hadn't rearranged the music for this scene. The PS2 original score was a lot better, in my opinion. I'd personally recommend using the Black Magic Spheres to teach Lulu Drain and Osmose. They are the only two Black Magic spells that aren't part of her Sphere Grid, and I find she becomes even more useful after learning them. Drain gives her a non-elemental attack, and Osmose restores her MP. Just my way of showing Lulu the love, lol.
I would really love it if you would also make a walkthrough with FF X-2!!!!! I will definetly watch that xD Your game guidance are really helpfull for me
Anima is at an airship scanner location baaj temple and requires all destruction spheres done and the airship obviously. The magus sisters are in the hidden temple you need a chocabo to access in the lower right of the calm lands. You also need every other aeon. You also need to go to that place to begin the celestial weapons quest and to get yuna's sigil.
Seeing you playthrough X-2 would be pretty cool, but if its not a game you really love playing then going for the 100% could really start to feel tedious. Perhaps you could do a fast paced run through, showing off the best dress spheres and garment grids to use to give you an edge over the bosses without grinding like mad.
Why do people pronounce it "Shee-vah"? In my mind, it should be "Shiv-ah," because she is more-or-less made up of ice, and ice is cold and can make you shiver. Furthermore, "shiv-ah" sounds like "shiv-er."
Well, double 'i' ('ii') is pronounced as an "e" sound in Japanese. I don't know if Japanese is the same as English in that it can have different pronunciations of the same letter/s. (BTW, just a clarification, if you are typing something such as a letter of the alphabet, you'd use an apostrophe instead of a quotation mark. So, the letter 'e' would be 'e' not "e" since you aren't spelling it like someone's saying it - you're just identifying it.)
Upon taking Seymour out with Wakka during the cutscene Wakka screams out "what have I done".1st time playthrough didn't know it made a difference untill I saw your video. Really nice touch.
biggest plothole in the entire game right here, why the f did they let tromell take seymor away?, seriously soo much trouble averted from a simple sending and its not liek tromell or the 2 attendents have any combat power, would have been very easy to keep them from interfering even if it wasn't a good idea to just off their collective badguy butts and anyone who wants to defend the guado yeah tell it to home
I hate this damn cloister of trials. I accidentally hit the return pad for the pedestal after completing the destruction sphere section on my most recent playthrough. It's such a pain in the ass having to rebuild that damn pathway twice much less three times.
Ugh, I remember that cutscene with Tromell being the point in the story where I was just like, "fuck Tromell". He must've seen the incriminating evidence yet still decided to call the party traitors and prolong the game by refusing to send Seymour. What an awful person.
Teach black magic to rikku. at least the thunder spell. so 1 member of the underwater team can kill fish with ease. and its only fitting to give it to rikku. BZZZZZT
This really bothers me, how in the world was someone supposed to figure this out back in 2002? A gimmick to sell strategy guides, I’ve gotten this far into the game and at this point I’m using your guides to beat the gameout of spite. If anyone is reading this I recommend getting the FF7 remake, this game is way to outdated
15:50 God, that model looks so awful. I think they just touched up the textures of the models of the main characters and forgot about the rest because that face looks like something you'd see in a PS1 game.
+Homura Akemi This isn't something that SE hid from fans, it was known that NPC's wouldn't be getting any special remaster enhancement. I guess it was probably time/money/resource related, but I wish they had...
Dark Aeons were NOT part of the original game. Fact. Why? Because it makes no sense for them to be in it. Shuyin is NOT part of X, so the dark aeons were NOT included. They were only added AFTER X2. Fact.
But they were in the japanese version, which came out 5 months or so before the NA version. I'm not entirely sure why you're referring to Shuyin as a reason as to why they weren't in the NA version as I've never heard of anything that ties Shuyin to the Dark Aeons.
The Dark Aeons came out due to Shuyin's actions in X2. Shuyin was NOT part of X. So the Dark Aeons had no purpose or cause to be in X. So no, they're not in X until after X2 was being made. Hence why the original did not actually have them in it.
How do you figure? They're identical in both X(the altered version) and X2. Adding them in X makes zero sense. The dark aeons were literally created by Shuyin. Since Shuyin is NOT in X, it made zero sense to add them. That's why the original version of X didn't have them. The version dan is playing is NOT the original. Something he said himself. There's even dialogue options in his version that are not in the original. I flipped the original. Did everything possible on it. The dark aeons are not on it due to logic. Them being added is no different than someone just modding them in.
So the one thing that's throwing a wrench in what you're saying is, is the fact that the Dark Aeons were in the Japanese version of the game, which came out in July 2001, whereas the North American version came out in December 2001, ergo they were technically in the game before we got it in the U.S. That would also put the creation of the Dark Aeons roughly 2 years prior to the creation of Shuyin and the whole vegnagun plot created for X-2, as well as the fact that the japanese names for the dark aeons translates roughly to heretical, so it's just believed that Yevon is going to extreme lengths to be rid of you after everything that transpired with Seymour, the other maesters, and Bevelle in general
In my last playthrough, Wakka had the final hit against Seymour. Death by blitzball. His "what have I done?" in the cutscene was rather fitting...lol.
This is the best let's play commentary playlist i've seen on youtube!
Also, you have a very good voice and calm mindstate to make it more interesting... you're good at this I like this alot!
+triggthetiger Many thanks, enjoy!
In 2001 they never had walkthroughs like these online, and every one when to the game store or Bookstore or get a copy. It is great to have RUclips!
Yeah but in 2001 we had the Twin Towers :-(
Right ... makes it so much easier for people with no time or money (to buy whatever is needed) to play the game to enjoy it. Most of the JRPGs that I've played were always kind of played in a collective, there were one playing and many watching (way back then, last one I've played was FF IX).

I got my bradygames strategy guide right here, still holding up
Gamefaqs were around, and were comprehensive!

Put a smile on my face when I came across the print out a couple of years ago, also covered in my own notes from back then 😁
Yuna: imma go tell seymor ill marry him
5 minutes later
Yuna: oops i killed him
16:43 is O'aka using the save sphere to disappear?
I've never noticed other characters using them in the game until now.
Patrick Kim lol I never noticed that 😂
Omg?? That is an amazing find! haha
Yea go for FFX-2. I do want to see it even though I am playing the game as well and watching you if I've missed something. I never got the 100% in either game
I'm so addicted to these videos... please, upload more!!!
Okay I believe you
Back playing this and 2024 and maaaaan without this walkthrough I'd be done thal you.

The Via Infinito is so worth the effort though. Because after all is said and done....strength is but a number.
+Emi Gurumi It was hard getting into X-2. First time I played it seemed like they stretched the story and the whole outfit changing with your party was a bit much I felt

Is it the Remastered version?
That Tom & Jerry reference, you are the truth man ✊ love that episode
I come back to this and Bevelle cloister of trials parts of the walkthrough every time! Couldn't be arsed even trying to think my way through them :)
If Yuna wasn't so empathetic, this game would have been shortened significantly! But I'm glad they didn't do it that way.
"He's being completely unreasonable, we gotta run!!"
*See's merchant*
"Oh shit!?!"
*Shops*
Is it ever explained how the Guado guys that chase you can summon fiends?
I’ve always assumed that it’s because they’ve mastered the Farplane.
i don't think they can lie that seymour died of a heart attack or something i mean how would you explain the stab wounds lol
+666melodeath666 Yeah, especially since Tromell already saw Jysical's Sphere, or so we can assume he watched it.
Attempted surgery to save him! Our healer was stuck in the actual fayth room you see.
We call that an Aerith heart attack.
You definitely should do a follow-up walkthrough for FF X-2. I really like your accent and your explanations as you play along.
I did :)
When the Seymour fight gives you silence proof armour for Auron....
Oh barf. 🤣
I really don't understand the point of the Cloister of Trials. It's virtually impossible to do these blind. You have to have step by step instructions, remember every step from the last time you did it, or spend half a day with trial and error. In any case, it's no fun
If they had puzzles that made sense - puzzles that you could figure out, but they don't make any sense and you have no idea what a sphere is for and what it's going to do
its all critical thinking that is the fun of it...lol
I fully agree these were inserted to push strategy guide sales. No way in hell I’m going to spend 3 hours or more trying to figure these out.
"Don't give up on Lulu guys, don't give up on THAT celebration" XDD
Lol right when I found this comment, he said the exact same thing.
Omg I totally stepped on that flipping button on the way back you the ramp. So sad. 😔
FFX 2 will be good anyway even if you don't know where the secrets are. It will be a learning experience for us and you and that's what I think makes a lets play truly fun to watch. So please FFX 2 :D
Thank you for doing the puzzle I remember playing this game a while back and I'm be the first to tell you that I'm not the sharpest knife in the shed in fact I'm on borderline autism so it takes me a while to do things properly especially with clues and when I did this the first time it took me a long time to figure everything out but in this case you you really did help me out and I really appreciate it thank you
Been playing this on switch and I'm up to here. Love these vids mate

woohoohoo! Shiva has always been my favourite summon (since ff7, only played 7 8 & 9). I was giddy as a child when I saw her come up haha...
Will this play on a PS3? I'm thinking about getting it. :)
Yup. They even made this game on PS4 now.
Awesome! Now I'm definitely buying it. :D
just like to thank you for this i know u made it a long time ago but i have this on ps4 and have been trying to get passed the aniema for a long time i will continue to watch the rest and continue playing as im a huge fan of the ff franchise

My Tidus died and I let Auron kill Seymore before I got him up abs he got 0 XP from that fight. I didn't know that. Live and learn
I’m at this moment in the game. Is this half way through the main story or less? Also when will I be able to explore and do any side quests ?
Can you somehow look up if you've made the destruction sphere of a specific temple? I've had a huge break where I haven't played at all...
Yes, you go to the statues at Baaj Temple and press x in front of each to check if the destruction sphere has been obtained for that temple. Check the Anima or Baaj temple related part to see what I mean. If the statue doesn't light up you are missing that des. sphere.
Thank you :)
i used to use the escape to grind a bit seeing in the ps2 version cause they were endless and i think that goes for4 the pc version but its been awhile since i played the pc version
I remember the first time I did this cloister of trials I was completely lost. I was also lost the 5th time.

Nah man. The purpose of black magic spheres is to pass around ultima and flare to all relevant casters.
I would really love it if you would also make a walkthrough with FF X-2!!!!!
I will definetly watch that xD
Your game guidance are really helpfull for me
Score! I got a Silenceproof Ring (Yuna) with 3 free slots!!! Wooo!!!
Great drop!
yeah cool but i how i can get Anima and the 3 sisters and yojimbo ??
mrgoodf50 yojimbo you get by going down under the bridge after the golem boss fight later in the game
These are last ones for today aren't they?
I have 1 more, coming soon, then will try to record a couple more hours tomorrow to upload over the weekend :)
Ffx2 was strange for me but I'd love to see how you play through it. Maybe help me understand the story a bit better too.
what a dislike......infidel !!!!!
I can't be the only one who hates these things with a burning passion
Lord. The only reason I bother with Cloister Trials is because of Anima, other wise I wish I could skip them!
Yes please do one for final fantasy x2
Seeing you playthrough X-2 would be pretty cool, but if its not a game you really love playing then going for the 100% could really start to feel tedious. Perhaps you could do a fast paced run through, showing off the best dress spheres and garment grids to use to give you an edge over the bosses without grinding like mad.
i just need level 2 keys for the spear grid and im on this part of the game and still at levil one ...does anybody know i can get my upgrades
Ah yes, one of my highest pet peeve cliches in all of fictional media. Stand there and say nothing when any real person would be defending them self.
That especially seemed to be an issue in early video game story telling
"say he had a heart attack" lol
I somehow soft locked myself in this Cloister of Trials ;-;
im curious what actually happened to seymour
+TheFantasyFen you'll know soon enough :p
+TheFantasyFen He died from turned based fighting.
Fox Tashikata HAHAHA. might be caused by a 9999 Overkill attack...
LOL
i got an piercing and silencestrike with two free slot what should i add to it
+timothy mobley Hopefully you added Fire and some more Strength for the next boss, Wendigo.
This video is almost four years old but fucking shit that was my favorite Tom & Jerry episode
he had a heart attack lol what about those sword wounds
Attempted surgery to save him. The healer was trapped in the room with the Fayth you see.
I remember that Tom and Jerry episode thats my favorite one I loved that episode as a kid.
FFx2 might be a sequel but it really is a very different game as in game mechanics and tone, story and such.
Weirdly, this is my favorite cloister. It’s the easiest for me somehow. I hate Bahamut’s though!!!
Why do people pronounce it "Shee-vah"? In my mind, it should be "Shiv-ah," because she is more-or-less made up of ice, and ice is cold and can make you shiver. Furthermore, "shiv-ah" sounds like "shiv-er."
Because this is a Japanese game, and the "i" is pronounced as an "e".. Shee-vah is correct.
What is the best weapon and armor for everyone
Upon taking Seymour out with Wakka during the cutscene Wakka screams out "what have I done".1st time playthrough didn't know it made a difference untill I saw your video. Really nice touch.
biggest plothole in the entire game right here, why the f did they let tromell take seymor away?, seriously soo much trouble averted from a simple sending and its not liek tromell or the 2 attendents have any combat power, would have been very easy to keep them from interfering even if it wasn't a good idea to just off their collective badguy butts
and anyone who wants to defend the guado yeah tell it to home
did u forget they fled with the whole place filled with guado
Yeah, the guado who fight collectively like wet towels against a fully healed party. They would've stood such a good chance.
don't give up on Lulu boys
Great job!
I hate this damn cloister of trials. I accidentally hit the return pad for the pedestal after completing the destruction sphere section on my most recent playthrough. It's such a pain in the ass having to rebuild that damn pathway twice much less three times.
Agréé with u, so usless
You can say when we walked in he just fell over
23:23 I love the wind flowing through the characters! If only the animation wasn't so jerky.
My favorite villians in final fantasy are seymour and sephiroth
Tromell call us traitors?
Ugh, I remember that cutscene with Tromell being the point in the story where I was just like, "fuck Tromell". He must've seen the incriminating evidence yet still decided to call the party traitors and prolong the game by refusing to send Seymour. What an awful person.
please do X-2 Dan

Master Seymour Butts
Real reason he doesn't want to do FFX-2 - Not enough Lulu
I had a hard time with the cloister
Had to suffe from Blitzball from Seymoooore and bla
I think yuna can learn black magic in case her aeon gets killed off then she has something to go back on
This really bothers me, how in the world was someone supposed to figure this out back in 2002?
👍🏻
Remaster is def easier I just smoked him and anima no summon or anything
commentary playthrough
Those weren't technically dark aeons, the Dark aeons in this game and the Aeons you fight in X-2 are different things entirely
