Good Video. Have been using Fire TV device for almost 5 years now on a Dumb Tv. Having recently bought an LG G2, I find the built in apps to be quite good and convenient to use. I am planning to try out both Apple TV and Shield someday in my setup to see whether a change is worth the effort or not. Have you done such a comparison? Any Video on it?
Any software avaliable for AVR and Speakers calibration in India. Better if you will make video on the topics. Foreign video is their but in our country any seller are using or not.

One info I thought I would add on the Nvidia Shield Pro that even though it comes with only 16 GB internal memory, however, you can add an external memory to increase that space, like I've done with my Pro which I've been using for few years. I've added an 1 TB SSD external hard disk as its 'internal' system memory. And you can still add another external hard disk with movies etc. as Shield comes with two USB ports.
Dune HD Smartbox is pure USB and Network media player rather than OTT player as compared to Nvidia shield TV pro. So if your primarily input is more of storage files than OTT then definitely can be considered 👍🏻
Hey Akshat, thanks for pointing that out. Fire Tv Cube is great. Listed the stick for its easy buy and decent features! And compared to Cube at that price, Roku was more deserving!

Leaving Nvidia shield pro, none supports Dolby Atmos over DTHD or DSX over DTS-HDMA, so I would say if you have a high end AVR not some sound bar then dont go for others. Rather have a streaming media player and a separate local media player like Zapiti or Zidoo.
I’m using Apple TV for streaming and so far Apple TV is fantastic. I’ve also got zidoo z9x pro for local content (bd rips/iso) but haven’t used it yet but i believe it would be much superior as bd rips have lossless audio. Apple TV is better then shield in streaming whereas zidoo is better than shield in local media. So i believe having both of them makes you experience best of both the world nevertheless shield tv pro is also a great choice if anyone wants all in one solution (but it lacks 3d support which zidoo does offer)
as the title says media player for Home theater: Apple TV wins purely for the content & apple "ecosystem". Nvidia shield might be powerful with multicore CPU but that CPU is under utilised for home theater

I am using my PC as a media player to play the media content from HDD using Cyberlink Power DVD 22 Ultra or Plex HTPC, this PC is built on mini-ITX very small form factor with Latest Intel process built in GPU and additional intel Arc A750 Graphics card which is capable to even 8K video also very smoothly it's also has a hdmi2.1 hdcp2.3 and supports HDR10 / HDR10+ dolby atmos and DTS-HD Master audio using passthrough. Except dolby vision its plays almost all types of content, plex htpc apps giveles very good home page expericen which fetch the all information of added contents.

Not yet. Waiting to get more playtime with Shield TV pro. Maybe will do it soon.

These are pure USB media players. Dune is best I feel 👍🏻

Yeah. That’s right. The reason to not include zidoo or dune in the list, as they don’t support OTT streaming for all apps.

Problems with set top boxes are they damage the HDMI boards.
