As long as the video is ripped as an ISO or a Make MKV BD backup you will have all of the menus available played from the Zidoo. As far as the smart TV goes you can use an app like Plex to watch MKVs but you won't have menus because Plex does not support ISO or BD backups. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
@@TwoGuyzTech This helps immensely! Thank you! Ultimately I'd love the have the menus available even though I know that would take up a ton of space. Lol. I bought the Z1000Pro when it came out and all the menus still look exactly the same. There was one update after few month and then never ever any other update, even the player has bugs it was never fixed. I can't speak for the Z2000Pro or UHD5000 but based on my experience with Zidoo they do not work out bugs and regularly update. Here are the bugs I experience with the Z1000Pro: 1) Connecting to your NAS drive can be a headache and getting it to work might take a while. Specially after restart the re connection takes ages. 2) It can happen that suddenly a movie stop playing and the system freeze up. Need to turn off the power switch and on to reboot where you then might face problem 1) 3) If you return from a movie to the menu there is a "normal" flicker where your TV turns black then shows the menu but sometimes it stays black not showing anything and might flicker for a second showing the menu just to be black again. You have to blindly start the movie again then exit out of the movie or you need to turn power off/on to reboot Even with those problems it is the best media player I could find. Saddest part is the lack of software bug fixes and non existent software maintenance except 1-3 month after the initial release of a new model and then nothing more. After watching this video I don't see the need to upgrade to Z2000Pro or UHD5000, maybe getting a good price catch for the Z1000Pro will do just fine.

I purchased a Zidoo Z2600 which I received on 10/19/2023. After getting it all setup and last min testing. I powered down the unit on 10/25. The next day 10/26 I went to power it up and it would not come up. The contacted the seller (futeko) and shipped it back for a replacement as that unit is dead. It did not last a week. After receiving an email from the seller they state it may have an internal power supply issue but will confirm when they get it back. They will then send me out a replacement unit. I was enjoying the unit but don't know why it would no longer power up.

Do any of these players have a-b repeat and slo-mo with either a dedicated remote button or on a quickly pulled up playback menu? (those features on vlc player on android players, firesticks, etc are tedious to get to)
I got a question in regards Zidoo not being able to produce Dolby Vision natively and I'll quote another user who commented on another RUclips channel and need to get your thoughts on this. Here's what he said: "Does this new player model output FULL Dolby Vision to a DV display, especially if you have ripped a 12 bit FEL dual layered 4k Blu-ray from your collection to MKV? In the past these kinds of media players had trouble with Dolby Vision compatibility even though they listed Dolby Vision in the supported HDR formats." And here was his follow-up... "I was looking through a certain website I won't name here and they explained what the Zidoo is doing. It will read the dual layered DV stream and only send the metadata, triggering the DV display. It cannot read the video part of the Full Enhancement layer nor combine the HDR10 layer with the differential layer to reconstitute the 12 bit DV file. So, in summation: 10 bit MEL or 12 bit FEL Dolby Vision rips will only play back as 10 bit MEL because of a limitation of the SOC being used in their current players." So can you confirm this issue on this model?
Very helpful info. 2 questions. What is your method for ripping your DVDs to digital format? And would the Zidoo be a legal way to copy content from a Dish DVR? I know they have a proprietary format and make this difficult if not impossible. Thank you.
Great review. I have a zidoo z20 pro for about 3 months, and just ordered uhd5000 and z9x pro for other rooms. I'm going to use uhd5000 as my main as soon as I receive it, but my question is I have a synology NAS in my system, how do i have or save the exact movie posters which I fixed and matched already on my z20 pro so I don't have to go through matching and fixing all my movies all over again? So I can see the exact same settings and library on all devices. All will be on the same network and by the way my synology ip already saved on my router. Do I need to do anything specific first, before I get my other two units started? Thank you
@robjohnson9235 the 5000 I had issues, I got the neo @. To be honest, all units are awesome. If you have use for it, then the 5000 or neo @, which is the flagship, is for you. Because they have dac and better power supply. Balanced output.
Great review and I appreciate the comparison between units. Very good. I was wondering how you integrated the Zidoo with your Plex Nas server? Keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching! The Zidoo does not integrate with the Plex software itself. Instead, it connects to the same SMB share that Plex reads from on the NAS. So both of them can work at the same time. Hope this helps! :)

Do you use the audio portion on the 5000 or just video? That was my question so I purchased the z2600 because I also owned the Eversolo DMP-A6 that I use for music.
Thanks for watching! You may be able to using an appropriate 3.5" to 2.5" SATA drive adapter, but we don't feel like this would be an optimal setup. HDD storage is cheap and plentiful, and while watching movies, the faster access times of an SSD drive won't make any noticeable difference. Hope this helps! :)
@@TwoGuyzTech I couldn't agree with you more. HHD storage is cheaper and works fine with the Zidoo. SSD storage won't be very beneficial to use on the Zidoo.

At the moment I have 8x 20tb external hard drives with 4K Blu-ray rips (MKV) files connected via a USB hub to my NVIDIA Shield Pro. Am I able to do this with any of the Zidoo players and will playback be any issue?
For those Who have a large collection of movies in (DVD, Blu-ray, Blu-ray 4k) this is not the real thing. Properly stored discs lasts longer than a hard drive does! and discs are a collectable thing, with its booklet and covers; the enjoyable thing is to get to the store, search and find something like its coming out of a treasure trove!
What’s the difference from setting up your own htpc by using an (Intel nuc or AMD mimi pc) with a DAS? Also, wouldn’t a diy setup be more upgradable and flexible?
I read somewhere that the picture quality is supposed to be slightly better on the 2000 and even more on the 5000 due to better power supplies, but I highly doubt it. This is the same chip, same picture software etc...
I bought zidoo z20 pro and had to return it, it can't play half of my library (mostly files encoded with divx and xvid). Shame it's such a useless product.
not just that, it also doesn't support dolby vision profile 7, CMv4.0 and tv led HDR, even though it pretends that it does (but it simply falls back to HDR10). The actual device is your typical Chinese scam product.
That's always been our stance. While a HTPC can be really powerful, dealing with Windows sucks. I find a lot of value in an appliance designed to play your movie library well, rather than maintaining a PC to do the same thing, which we did for several years, and never had an experience we felt was good enough to recommend others to do the same thing.
@AeropathX I won't say that it's the best player in the world but I have HTPC, Zidoo, Nvidia Shield and Apple TV. And I have been comparing them to figure out which one suits my use cases. Turns out that Zidoo is the best for local media. For example, it has an amazing Dolby Vision engine and it performed the best when it comes to 4K upscaling the 1080p bluray rips. It also converts sdr content to hdr, This includes the great poster wall interface with a well organized media library and also the functionalities and customization it allows me to do.

8 GB operating memory
This huge amount of operating memory gives the best performance even in the most heavy use cases. 64-bit Linux kernel allows the efficient use of 8 GB RAM for caching of system and apps code and data. Apps launch, run and switch quicker. More memory can be used for graphics caching, which further improves the performance of the user interface.
64 GB flash memory
Hey thanks for letting us know about these new products, we will definitely reach out to Dune and see if we can get one in for review! :)
Do you use the audio portion on the 5000 or just video? That was my question so I purchased the z2600 because I also owned the Eversolo DMP-A6 that I use for music.
I use the video portion on my Zidoo Z2000 Pro.
I own a Denon AVR-X6700H that I use with my Zidoo.
Can you z9x can you use a SD drive
Yes you can use a SSD on your Zidoo.
Great comparison video, much appreciated. Question, can an SSD be installed easily in the 2000 model?
Thanks for watching! You may be able to using an appropriate 3.5" to 2.5" SATA drive adapter, but we don't feel like this would be an optimal setup. HDD storage is cheap and plentiful, and while watching movies, the faster access times of an SSD drive won't make any noticeable difference. Hope this helps! :)
@@TwoGuyzTech I couldn't agree with you more. HHD storage is cheaper and works fine with the Zidoo. SSD storage won't be very beneficial to use on the Zidoo.
@@David25522 SSD is dead quiet. While your normal HDD will produce noise and vibrations that can be annoying. UHD5000 doesn’t have any dampening in HDD bay. So you will hear it. Obviously it depends on your setup and unit location.
Can I upload any movie from my pc to the hdd connected to any of those units over the internet?
Can one of them handle DTS 5.1 over optical?
I couldn't read the Sata 20 Terabytes hard drive. Partition into 2 10 Terabytes Partition. I copied 8 terabytes of movies onto the hard drive from external drive. When I looked in the Zidoo i couldn't see the SATA drive?
Does the 5000 read external HDDs that are connected via USB??
what sata cable is that one connected to the z9x pro?
At the moment I have 8x 20tb external hard drives with 4K Blu-ray rips (MKV) files connected via a USB hub to my NVIDIA Shield Pro. Am I able to do this with any of the Zidoo players and will playback be any issue?
Hows the Video quality with Dolby Vision you re getting i'm also thinkig to purchase since i have 20TB Seagate drive
@@lalitmehta6969 it's very good,l but still think regular HDR10 has more vibrant colours. This is on a 77inch LG C4 OLEd
If Zidoo offered a Blueray drive with ripping software as an option for the 5000, I'd be really tempted.
MKV TOOLNIX easily do that what i do is copy files from ISO and paste it to the drive and do edit with mkv toolnix
The home PC won't playback 3D MKV files or 3D ISO files, it also uses more power.
@@originaltrilogy1 If I'm not mistaken kodi plays 3D ISOs and if you setup a HTPC with a intel NUC or any mini pc, your setup will be low power use.
@@Jad2410 Jriver too but not on android though
Is the picture quality the same for all 3 products?
I read somewhere that the picture quality is supposed to be slightly better on the 2000 and even more on the 5000 due to better power supplies, but I highly doubt it. This is the same chip, same picture software etc...
Yeah in our experience the video quality and capabilities between these are identical.
What's the max number of videos it will host?
My "Zidoo Z9X PRO 4K" will only go up to ~1,700
You might be better off getting the Zidoo 5000 it has 64GB of storage for your movie collection.
Selling your Zidoo Z9X Pro 4K won't be. A problem.
Does your movie poster wall slow down when scrolling through them? I have a Z9X and at about 700 videos the poster wall scroll is terrible.
@@allisterfiend_2112I have a Zidoo Z2000 Pro and it scrolls down smoothly with no issues.
Hi, great video! I've read elsewhere that the Z9X PRO does not play DTS-HD MA audio, could you please comment on this? Thanks!
The UHD5000 is not Roon Ready like the 3000. That's a deal killer for me. Otherwise, nice unit.
I get that your trying to be batman, but even he is better lit in his batcave. ;-) Need to turn up your lighting or your camera's exposure a bit.
Really,is this real for S25 Ultra? When time comes at actual launch, design and colour will be the same as s22 Ultra ,S23 Ultra and S24 Ultra.
the Z9X pro is not cheap, yet they don't even supply the AV cable, that's poor !!
Never understood these devices. Its I guess for people who are not PC literate. Build a HTPC + NAS + Kodi = better IMO.
Yeah and always have issues, install new versions, drivers, tweak etc... I gave up with this 10 years ago and I'm happy I did.
Zidoo players simply destroys HTPC and Kodi in many ways.!
@@fivelevels how do you figure? I'm what? Htpc can do anything it can do.
