To me Zidoo is that company that understands VERY WELL what the market needs and what THE CORRECT PRICE IS. Eversolo brand proves that , remember the Dmp-A6? We need companies like that, not only crazy prices for out of this world architectures for the sake of being pretentious and THE NEXT BIG THING! Most people need a good bargain for their needs and Zidoo offers that, while not forgetting the audiophile snob. Good one Sandy👍👍
Agreed. I've been using them for over four years. Everybody was buying the Zappiti, but I stuck with Zidoo. I'm very glad I did. I just got the 8000 today, and I must say, it is not needed over the Z9X 8K, but man, is it nice! Lol. I am keeping it.
@@m4nc1n1 Very lucky you with Zidoo. I went with Zappiti and we all know what happened with them...🙄. My next media player is gonna be the Z3000 Pro. I'm definitely not paying for any R_Volution players! I've learned my lesson!
I got the UHD8000 today and am very impressed with its build. I also have the Z9X and the Z9X Pro. I read it is the same DAC as the Eversolo DMP-A6. I will test it as a USB DAC someday, but I bought it for movies and have the WiiM Ultra as a streamer.
Great review! Had my unit for over a week now and I have found the streaming unit to be pretty good, unless you use internal drives for storage. Heavy disk use causes lots of noise, so make sure you use a NAS instead. Disk access is pretty slow, too. My guess is that HDD access is over USB as I reach a maximum of 20MBps transferring over LAN. Video play though, magnificent. I am currently using the player as a streamer with USB connected to a Matrix Audio X-SPDIF 2 and then AES to my Mola Mola Kula with the optional Tambaqui DAC. Love the sound, slightly better than Tambaqui LAN input. Also love the flexibility of UHD8000, with Roon, Tidal Connect and the music player vs Tambaqui that is Roon only. Oh, and movies audio rendered through Kula is something else, too!
Hi Daniel, glad you liked the video. The HDDs are connected internally via a SATA III interface, and it's a bit weird that you getting only 20 MBps transfers (maybe you have low-RPM drives?). I did however use an external SSD drive via the frontal USB port (Samsung T7 SSD) and in my case the loading times were pretty snappy. I was surprised by its video capabilities, but even more by the sound of the movies when played back on my HiFi system. I was literally jumping off my sofa when big explosions were landing in my chest 😄Sooo satisfying!
You are right, the drives are SATA III but I'm afraid they are connected to the CPU via a USB bus after that. No loss as I'll never use the internal bays due to them inducing noise over the USB port into my DAC.
When I found out about this device (UHD8000), I was more than delighted, and then after watching a few reviews, my enthusiasm melted away! The first disappointment was that it only reads hard disks up to 16 TB, and the second reason why this device was removed from the wish list is the inability to support 3D movies !!! The horror !!! 😱 ZIDOO, why such a stupid decision!?!? I have over 500 movies in 3D format on my hard drive and I know there are many more of us who love 3D movies! I am very disappointed! 😭
@@Soundoverload Thanks, mate. I might check them soon, I'm still waiting for a reply. Last time their LA90 wasn't so impressive, but B200 seem to be something else.
Thanks for a great review! I am thinking about replacing my trusty old Oppo 203 with something that makes for a better user experience. However I need a unit that can at least equal what I get from the Oppo in the sound department. I have a few mods like a linear power supply and an I2S module, to send a bitstream signal into my PS Audio Directstream DAC via HDMI and using the unit as a Roon endpoint. The UHD8000 has no such output, but can I somehow send the audio signal from the UHD8000 to my DAC directly? If its via the USB output, is that the only interface available to output the "untouched" audio signal? About video playback on the UHD8000. I have the jailbreak fw on the Oppo, so the question is does the UHD8000 play BDMW folders and ISO with full menu support?
A nice looking player with a great feature set I like the HDMI audio output socket this is a must have feature when using legacy surround processors. I'm also liking the USB audio output socket for use with a stand alone DAC these two features alone make it a very versitile product and with ROON endpoint support it seems to have covered all bases. Can I ask is Apple Music supported if so will it output Atmos as a bitstream via HDMI audio out? I assume the player does not support DSD output via HDMI or USB audio?
Is there an easy way to switch between watching movie (using hdmi main out ), and then listening to music (using analogue output to AVR). As, if you switch the AVR source to the zidoo's analog output then you cant watch album art etc on tv screen. and if you listen music via hdmi main then you are not using the inbuilt ess DAC.
Whick one is the best between this one and the R_volution playerone 8k pro? The r_volution playerone 8k pro can storage two 32tb internal hard drive vs this one only 32tb. But what about for picture quality and sound ?
i have the zidoo 9x pro, and it supports the 7.1 trueHD atmos soundtracks with movies. does this uhd8000 has capability of doing trueHD sound pass thru.?? can consider upgrading but cant find this info anywhere
