As a fanatic of image quality, my only question is : Are these 3 able to play Dolby Vision profile 7 FEL (the Top profile in Dolby Vision, the one used by BluRay devices). It seems not. For experts (far involved than me), the only solution for now (I buy it today) is a Ugoos AM6B with a CoreElec software (custom version of Kodi 21). It would be nice if you can compare these 3 with that solution (168€), playing a BluRay film ripped properly in a MKV format...I will report here, as soon as I will install it, if the video quality is even better than Dolby Vision in Netflix. See you soon 🤗
Zidoo Z9X 8K plays profile 7 fine but obviously not using the 2nd layer because of Dolby license issues I think. No other media player is able to do this but I've heard as well about that box with CoreElec, so it would be great to see if picture quality is better for DV remux files.
@@ZinoNetic Yes, the file is reading (and it’s a good point) but to do that the box downgrade to 8.1 profile (without the 2nd layer of enhancement as @SteveMuller1976 explain). May be a little bit better than HDR10 but I’m not sure 🤔
Zidoo control center can be accessed from a desktop with browser. It’s very slick and easy to use. Changing poster match is so much easier with the browser than remote.
Don't think that makes a lot of difference in regards to picture and sound comparison, it uses the same specs. Z9X 8K is amazing so far for me and plays all 4K remux files fluently. Even LOTR trilogy which are all around 120gb per movie.
@@abdullahalashar5909 First I got the Pro One 8K Plus for the living room, then I got the Pro Vision 4k for the bedroom. They've both been working flawlessly
Despite its outdated interface, Dune is still the better choice where it matters - playback. R_volution are based on their firmware for a reason after all.
@@abdullahalashar5909 Largely depends on where you store your movies - if you use a NAS, go for the smallest and cheapest one, Dune HD Pro 8K Plus. If you use HDDs, go for Dune HD Solo 8K - they are equal performance-wise.
Question, does the R-volution remote use IR and if so, will it work with an IR extender. I have a Z9X 4K and the IR remote is apparently a different frequency of IR and it will not work with IR extenders. Also, apparently there is no way to turn off subtitles on the Z9X. There are instructions to do it but none work. The Dune Solo 4K IR remote originally worked with an IR extender but after several attempts to make its BlueTooth remote work, the IR stopped working with the extender. An attempt to pair the Sofabatan remote to the Dune Solo rendered both devices inoperable. A factory reset recovered the Sofabatan but the Dune needs to go in for warranty repair. I'm hoping the R-volution is more robust and can work more reliably than either the Zidoo or Dune. I also wonder if later higher end models of the Zidoo and Dune might be better than the experience I've had so far.
Hi there, thanks for the information! the r-volution player one comes with an ir extender cable - check out my latest comparison video for all new models.
@@ZinoNetic Yeah I need to watch your videos on each player. I have the Dune Solo 4K working really well now but there are a few features I would like to see changed. I'll know more about that after watching your other videos.
Great review! Do you happen to know if the poster wall on the R.Volution Player One displays the IMAX Enhanced label for IMAX Enhanced Blu-rays? I’ve been using the Zidoo Z9X 8K for a few days now, but on that device, the poster wall shows a DTS-HD label for IMAX Enhanced movies instead.
@@ZinoNetic yes I did. I also tried to format my ssds and hdd too.. I even had a replacement sent. But same issue. Only my old usb 2.0 devices worked. I testet with 5 usb 2.0 flash drives. All of them instantly gets detected. Now I will try the new Dune HD Pro 8K Plus, releasing in September.
I'll stick with my Zidoo UHD-5000 on v1.0.75 firmware. Zidoo is notorious for breaking stuff in firnware updates. They still have best UI and experience when you get a stable firmware.
SO Hard to choose! I'm leaning towards the R_volution Player One 8K for its 3D support and display of ATMOS audio in the true channel format of #.#.#. I've got a 9.1.6 setup and there aren't many movies that include all 9 floor channels. This would let me know which movies have the Wide channels. If it had an "audio only" HDMI output, that would probably seal the deal. My pre-pro can do 9.1.6 Dolby ATMOS but it can't do 8K. Separate outputs would allow me to have the best audio quality on my pre-pro and best video quality on my 8K projector. Also, it's frustrating that these boxes are android yet can't fully exploit android streaming apps capabilities.
Thanks for sharing, your 9.1.6 setup sounds amazing! I totally get why 3D support and proper Atmos channel display matter. There is another model with dual HDMI outputs for splitting audio and video but no support for 3d, but I haven’t had the chance to test it yet. And yes, it’s frustrating these Android-based players don’t fully utilize streaming apps now i have these players and a google tv streamer.
@ZinoNetic Yeah. Their 4K version has the dual HDMI output AND an HDMI input! It seems backwards that this higher end model drops these features since they would be more useful in this one. Upscaling and AI enhancements on the Player One 8K would make the HDMI input quite useful if it could upgrade the picture quality from an external source. Also, the separate audio output is needed more when it has an 8K video output that many AVRs/Pre-Pros can't handle.
@@MrKurtBergeronI've owned the z9x 8k for about 3 days now and let me tell you, the audio quality is outstanding! Which one plays RUclips best? Oh, that's right, R-volution doesn't do any online services. Know what you're buying. The R_volution is expensive and not really a full streaming box. It plays only your local content, not sources like RUclips, Netflix, Hulu, Prime, or any other online sources. It really doesn't do anything you can't do with a mini PC running Plex.
Hey, thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it. Just to clarify, none of these devices are really designed to run streaming services efficiently. I tried to emphasize that.
