A repeated erroneous assumption I often hear is the argument that if the IJN had focused purely on their Carriers instead of the Yamato class that it would have made a significant difference, however that isn't the case. The turning tide in the Pacific was due in large part to the fact the IJN could not realistically threaten the US production of material or its manpower. That disadvantage on top of severe shortages of fuel, steel and other resources for Japan contrasted the Allied advantages in Radar(which was the decisive factor in the Battle of the Philippine Sea) and Code breakers ensured that nothing Japan did would have changed the final results of the Pacific War. The Yamato Class were strategically viable when initially proposed for what they were designed to do and would have remained viable significantly beyond that as the history of the Iowa Class proves. It was not the fault of the vessels, but rather the doctrinal thought process of the IJN that doomed them to irrelevance in the war.
It's part of why the Decisive Battle doctrine was popular: Strike such a blow that the enemy comes to the peace table before attrition makes victory impossible.
a good quote i've heard regarding Yamato was that it was "The right ship for the wrong war." Had it been built during the first world war (yes i know it couldn't have been), and if japan played a major role world war 1, then it would be seriously effective.
In total 249,805 battles were done containing the techtree Yamato across the three servers during 13.5 264 937 battles when including ARP Ulon_, NA Server
Why is the flag of Japanese ships in the game not the Rising Sun Flag (Kyokujitsu-ki)? The other nations have historically accurate flags, even the Germans have (partially censored).
For anyone wondering: the bonus code is still redeemable as of 3 hours later. I guess it might not work for some people... or a glitch WG is trying to fix?
It makes me wonder, had the japanese not have put yamato in operation ten-go and had avoided being used as test dummies in the nuclear bomb testing, would it have became a museum ship?
Depend, lets say Musashi and Shinano had the same fate, one of them probably would be tested to Operation crossroad while the rest would be either museum ship or modernized if possible
If you are on the EU server, there is currently a delay in receiving the rewards. Don't worry, they will arrive. The discount for the camouflage will be in the Exterior tab in your Port.
The Iowa class battleships were superior, in many, many ways. It's fire control was radar guided, unlike Yamato. The Iowa class were at least 8 knots faster, more agile and fuel efficient. It's 16 inch had superior accuracy, it's anti aircraft guns, superior...Yamato, not so much. You Yamato syncophants have a tough time accepting reality, but it seems the fact the Yamato was literally hit in its magazine and blown to bits is still not enough evidence.
Yamamoto today now thats one legendary ship. Named after the admiral who commanded her The Yamamoto was the most lethal ship in the Japanese arsenal. She was a member of the Yamamoto Class the biggest ships in the world. The third would become the aircraft carrier Taiho the second was named after the samurai The Musashi at Leyte Gulf we put the Musashi under and during Ten Go President Bush sank the Yamamoto and got shot down at the end of the battle. If you want big go with the Yamamoto.
Not Yamamoto. Yamato. Admiral Yamamoto is 海軍大将山本五十六、 and the Yamato class is 大和型戦艦. Also, Musashi was actually named after the Musashi prefecture, or Musashi no kuni 武蔵の国 present day Gunma and Saitama prefecture. Same with Shinano, she was named after Shinano no kuni in present day Nagano prefecture. Sorry if your joke went over my head but here are some things you should know I feel like.
So the code is already used such a shame, this is the problem when giveaways or promo codes are offered as some of us who just came off from work missed it. Code's should not have a limit unless it has an expiration or better yet indicate that the code is only valid for a certain hours.
Some people get an error when redeeming codes but they still work. I just redeemed the code on an EU account without problems (my account is not affected by that error message issue).
