@@SipandFeast Yes,the "Lad" is becoming quite the "Thoughtful Judge👍" And ur so right into urging him to be as honest as he can be(He's a Polite&respectful young man,but ur not going to be offended)because u obviously have a good connection!..It's impressive &nice to see!
Your son is adorable! Awww! And honest, lol!😂 And he's right--you needed way more garlic and kosher salt! I think you needed more basil as well, and the best way to use fresh basil in this particular recipe is to roll up several leaves, then slice them into lots of thin strips so that you get a little in every bite! Fresh mozzarella balls are perfect for this recipe! And when you get a bite with a little bit of basil and the slightly melted mozzarella--fantastic! I suggest using a tad fewer tomatoes, as tomatoes can detract from the overall flavor if you use too many. And I personally don't like burrata at all--it's really not necessary here. I think burrata is oddly thick and slimy, with a weirdly bland taste. You should warn people that burrata is different than your typical mozzarella! You demonstrated this well! It looks delicious-- It's quick, simple, and for a light summer meal, it's heaven on a plate! I agree with you that other Italian herbs aren't necessary for this recipe. Don't forget to serve this with your favorite crusty French bread! I now know what I'm making for dinner tonight, lol! 🎉👍
I’ve said this before, and I’ll continue to say it… I love how you’re videos aren’t over produced. Its just a regular guy cooking for his family. I love it. Really feels genuine to me. I make this dish all the time in the summer as well everybody loves it. Sometimes you just can’t beat simplicity. Very few ingredients go a long way. Especially when they’re high quality.
I actually really appreciate how seriously James took his rating, but also that moment where he felt almost sheepish about it being an 8/8.5 because he loved it (and you!). Beautiful dad/son moment (made me tear up a little actually). This dish looks wonderful, even if it is simple, as you say. I probably would have added a bit of butter to add the salt quotient and let it melt in there before the e.v.o.o. myself, but it is bright, fresh, and great looking! Another win.

I made something similar last weekend but instead of burrata, I just did cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, linguine and olive oil and baked a nice filet of red snapper. It was fantastic
Wow, I'm actually tearing up at this beautiful father/son relationship. It's so wonderful to see- mututal trust, respect and open communication. I love it. Thank you for raising your son to be a kind and honest young man. And thank you for the recipe! This looks outstanding.
I worked in a nice Italian restaurant in Seattle in the 80s. They made this same dish only instead of moz, it was made with bay scallops. One of my favorite dishes to make - in fact, I made some yesterday! Love your channel. Subbed.

Lazy weeknight pasta dishes are honestly my favorites. I end up using all kinds of random scraps and random herbs, veggies, proteins, and shortcuts I never would have otherwise used, and a simple dinner becomes a learning experience for me. Lazy pasta cooking taught me, for example, that leftover potatoes are a great thickener/filler for pasta sauces. It taught me that a very starchy pasta water can be well-emulsified with a diverse combination of butter, cream, olive oil, parmesan, and cottage cheese. Casual and lazy cooking is the foundation of most enjoyment and discovery in home cooking.
I made ur pasta with cherry tomatoes 4 times last week. Can’t wait to try this one out. Thank you for the simplicity of the dishes. It helps me to appreciate fresh and natural flavors.
I love watching you cook, it's exactly how I'd like to be in the kitchen! I also love how you don't talk down to your viewers; you go over the basics but you don't linger too long or over explain anything.
came for the pasta recipe, stayed because of your son’s commentary and score. watched couple of your videos and I must say I adore his way of giving opinion on your dishes

An 8 is a great score when you consider that everything you make for him is super-delicious!! In my house this would be a 12 out of 10 because my family are used to MY every day cooking!😁
Man, I am so glad I stumbled onto your channel last month. I have been obsessed with watching as many of your videos as possible. It's great to see quick, easy to make meals with ingredients and cookware anyone can afford. Plus, it's all Italian-American food from NY! Who doesn't love that? I make a dish very similar to this one all the time, but I usually finish with shredded mozzarella. This video just made me decide to switch the fresh pearls instead. I also loved the "Don't measure. It will make you a better cook." advice. Anyway, I love your videos. The presentation is great. Your personality really comes through, and you can see how much you enjoy cooking meals for your family. Keep it up!
I am definitely going to try this for something light yet sumptuous for a lazy summer night! (Especially as I've never tried burrata cheese before.) James is SUCH a good kid and we all love him! 🥰
I used this video to make this pasta dish last night and WOW! I went out and picked the tiny cherry tomatoes from my patio pots, picked up so organic basil and took a mozzarella ball and made tiny little balls from it. This was one of my favorite pasta dishes f all time. So easy and so incredibly good!

So simple and so delish! I love his honesty and his love and respect for you; seems like a great kid!! I love how this is so easily adaptable. You can add more or less of any of the ingredients to taste. This will be so great with garden fresh tomato and basil which we always have an abundance of. 😊
I was waiting until I had enough cherry tomatoes in my garden to make this and tonight I did. Grabbed some basil that I have growing and threw it together just as you did. This is absolutely delicious. Simple, quick yet very tasty.
A really gorgeous dish! And being so simple makes it a perfect base for any additions to suit your needs. I could see prepping this as a fuller meal with the addition of a protein like chicken or fish, or adding toasted panko and parmesan for additional texture.
Ah, perfect! I'd been looking for something simple and tasty, a quality pasta dish you could serve during summer time. The freshness looks mouth-watering. I will definitely make this soon, I can already tell my wife's going to love it. Thanks for the great content! :)

my kids start checking the tomatoes at the supermarket as soon as the weather warms up and we have spaghetti caprese at least once a week all season. i use full size tomatoes, blanch and peel/ pit them instead of frying them. i do use 2kg of tomatoes with 4 mozzarelle for 4 people, because the family goes nuts over the 'goodies'. we do also add parmigiano and a decent ladle of pasta water to help melt the cheese. it's the first dish my children learned to make themselves.
Hey Jim, I'm trying to learn some basic cooking techniques while I'm attending university, and your videos have been a great help. I made your pasta alla norcina last night and I definitely overate because it was so delicious and simple. Keep up the good work!
I have tried several of your recipes so I already know your son is being totally honest about how good they are. I’m going to make this later today, but I’m too full right now. I just finished a big bowl of split pea soup (your recipe).
Jim, I can't thank you enough for this wonderful channel! I started out just watching because your videos are so relaxing. Then I tried a couple of your less complicated recipes, and they're now on my list of favorite recipes to cook. I also just wanted to say something about salt, for the benefit of any fans who, like me, might be on low salt diets. The taste for salt is very elastic: your taste buds can get used to eating a ton of salt, or they can adapt to a low salt diet -- IF you are consistent. People on low salt diets shouldn't be afraid to try these recipes. Just use the level of salt you are accustomed to. I made the Fra Diavolo chicken thighs with no added salt (including tomatoes and tomato paste with no salt), and the result was so delicious! Yum! It was delish! I had all these ingredients (including those hothouse tomatoes, perfectly ripe). I did add a drop of pesto to up the basil quotient.
Made this for dinner last night. It was absolutely fantastic! So few ingredients but so amazingly flavorful. ... Good one. Will be putting this on my go-to recipe list. 😊👍
Love this - especially your taste tester! Wow to be so young with a sophisticated palate! Kudos to you both. This recipe looks amazing. Thank you for bringing this video to us!
I love the mini mozzarella balls, thank you for inspiring and giving me new ideas for my own cooking. I respect what you were trying to accomplish here, a quick simple dish that takes advantage of ingredients in season. How I would shape this to my taste (I know no one asked lol) I would use some of those tomatoes and make a quick sauce with it, add some chopped basil in there to really inject the dish with that fresh flavor. I would then finish with more cherry tomatoes, warm them through to have that texture and those pops of flavor. I would then do everything that you did exactly the same. Gorgeous dish and I appreciate your sons honesty, because I knew that wasn't a 9 or 10 dish (it wasn't designed to be) and it's great he can be open with you. Thank you again brother!!!
FYI y'all. In years past I've made this exact same dish with baby arugula instead of basil, although I have used both as well. Also, the best way to serve burrata is in cut halves on top of the warm pasta with a drizzle of EVOO, a pinch of salt, and fresh cracked pepper right on the burrata itself. If you want a touch of acid on it, I would recommend Italian aceto (balsamic vinegar) but just a touch. The combination of flavors is fantastic.
I remember a couple months ago I was looking for a recipe for this n couldn’t find one so I just put the pasta with the ingredients for the salad and boom caprese pasta lol the first time I made it I too didn’t add enough salt but I put a tiny bit of flaky salt on top like I would for the salad and it was perfect. I’m glad there’s finally a recipe now!
Looks great, will have to give it a try!!! Also wanted to tell you that I make a pasta salad with tomato, mazarella, basil and spinach and use the dressing that you made for the spinach and blue cheese pasta salad you made a month or so ago! It's definitely a favorite now!!
@@SipandFeast I'm sure I will!! That is one if my favorite combination! Sometimes for a snack I just do tomatoes, Mozzarella and basil... I could eat it every day!!! Also thanks for the recipes and good ideas!
Just as you use Quality Olive oil to finish the pasta.. James is the greatest finishing touch to these videos. Don't get me wrong, the Mother of the taste tester(😊) is great too but watching James scarf down the food you make says it all!! Thank you for another great video.🧡🍷🍝
Very similar to a dish I make except it uses feta instead of mozarella and add fresh parsley and basil cooked with the tomatoes and toasted pine nuts at the end. So good.
Been making this caprese pasta since this summer as I absolutely love it. It is so easy to make and even leftovers are delicious. Instead of the spaghetti type pasta, I used the Mezzi Rigatoni pasta as I’m partial to macaroni. I also started using kosher salt and even bought a wooden container for the salt similar to what you use. I tend to be heavy handed with using salt and found that the kosher salt is a bit stronger than the regular type so needed to cut down on amount I use which actually is better for my blood pressure 😊. Anyways, just wanted you to know that I really like a lot of your recipes and always go to your site for new recommendations. You appear to have a lovely family and I like that you involve them in your presentation. Keep up the good work and wishing you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving!🦃
My basil plant is five feet tall and three around. So sweet and the oregano is growing like a weed. My Misen paring knife arrived and I have not used it yet....I will soon. What a gem. How did I ever get any work done before I had these tools.....Oy Vey!
Have you ever considered using an electric cooktop? I use one for hot pot at home and it heats up super quick. I think with some practice, you can master controlling the heat the way you can with the canned fuel.

This looks great. We grow cherry tomatoes in the summer and this will be a great way to use them as they start to ripen.
Glad you're enjoying the dressing. That's a good base for many salads. Hope you like this recipe as well!
@@SipandFeast I'm sure I will!!
That is one if my favorite combination! Sometimes for a snack I just do tomatoes, Mozzarella and basil... I could eat it every day!!!
Also thanks for the recipes and good ideas!
This actually looks insanely good.
I have burrata in the fridge.. I’m gonna try this tonight. I love how easy and quick it is. Thanks!
Just as you use Quality Olive oil to finish the pasta.. James is the greatest finishing touch to these videos. Don't get me wrong, the Mother of the taste tester(😊) is great too but watching James scarf down the food you make says it all!! Thank you for another great video.🧡🍷🍝
no matter the score James keeps on keeping on!
Very similar to a dish I make except it uses feta instead of mozarella and add fresh parsley and basil cooked with the tomatoes and toasted pine nuts at the end. So good.
I just love James he has become a little chef too!! Keep up the good work
Have you done a garlic slicing tutorial? Your slices are perfect!
What an intelligent and lucky 🍀 boy getting to try all your delicious 😋 recipes!
You guys are awesome. I need to plant more basil. Thank you for the great recipe suggestions! 🇮🇹👍🍝
I hope you enjoy the knife. And you need to make lots of pesto with all that basil!
Lil man rocks!!!! Spicy lil guy!! Yo, I’m absolutely loving your vids!! I love the taste test reviews the most!!
So happy to see a young man with a discerning pallet. You have a built-in taste tester! Lucky you 👍👍
Thanks! He loves almost all types of food.
My favourite food channel right now. I made the Pasta alla Norcina recently and it turned out AMAZING! 🤤
I will make this Sunday for my co workers!! Love you Jim!!!!
Have you ever considered using an electric cooktop? I use one for hot pot at home and it heats up super quick. I think with some practice, you can master controlling the heat the way you can with the canned fuel.
Looked fantastic.
Love your sons input.
Thanks
Thanks for watching!
