You don't measure RAM by average fps performance, you measure by more than that...
1% low 0.1% low, loading times, rendering times and tools that measure transfer rates and response times...
CPU models also affect results. Intel is way better than AMD when it comes to low speed memory because how they build their arquitecture and well, you might see different results with low end CPUs with low cache memory compare to a top end. GPU RAM>VRAM transfer rate also is affected by RAM, loading times can increase if your ram is faster and you won't see this on any FPS meter. Basicly you avoid stutter and framedrops if the memory match the CPU performance and everything work smoothly and definitely ain't something you measure with a average frames on games.
How much would a difference would have this test observed say if done with AMD CPU like R5 2600, since they are much more dependent on RAM frequency?

Might not be your jam, but I'd love to see how RAM speed matters when you're doing more CPU intensive tasks like program compilation, video encoding, compressing files, etc.

Someone help. Don’t know a whole lot about clock speeds or pc’s just general knowledge but I’m trying to figure out why I keep getting really bad frame drops on call of duty MW it started happening couple days ago it was never an issue till a couple days ago. I have a rtx 3070 , Ryzen 7 5800x and a x570 ASRock phantom gaming 4 motherboard. I typically get a consistent FPS of 139 -143 running at 1440p all high settings. But it keeps dipping to 80fps 50fps then back to 120-139 throughout the game. I ran Msi afterburner to check my temperatures for my gpu and cpu and they’re at 65-72 c so it’s not overheating. My only guess is cuz I have cheap hp ram 2x 8 gb sticks running at 3600 on my xmp profile? Idk. Help lol

When it comes to picking up laptop rams for my predator helios, I always go for the crucial. No one cares about the looks of the stick. Hypex makes bad ass looking ram cards to an extra $40 than crucial ones. But, once you plug that shit into your laptop, no one can see the looks of the ram stick. lol

Do you notice any real world difference in Office, RUclips, Video editing, Music software when using slower to faster Ram Kits 2400-360Mhz? Seen the FPS gains in gaming, not seen videos on real world difference in workhorse types of software.

have you tested RAM RANKS? RAM ranks give bigger difference compared to simple frequency. When i upgrade RAM i take care to upgrade RAM RANKS more and RAM frequency less. Usually in consumer grade computers i upgrade 1Rx16 or 1Rx8 to 2Rx8 RAM and believe me, 2Rx8 RAM shows its teeth and claws over 1Rx8 and especially over 1Rx16 in almost any operation which is related to intensive exchange on information between RAM and CPU.

Thank you but how about rams of brands like transcend or timetec... cause I believe corsair, crucial or trident are already among wellknown fancy brands... we can't call their products as cheap...
that's true, although Corair is the most recognized, but there mostly known for there high profile Ram, like Vengeance LPX, Crucial is more known for Low Profile. Trident is by G.Skill, TeamGroup is fairly new, but they only make gaming Ram.
there cheap now, ddr4 was expensive in the beginning, but most good Ram now is under a 100. the cheapest is less than 40.

Get yourself some cheap ram 32GB and some nice ARGB ram covers, I got some from Asiahorse ARGB ram covers 18 dollars on Amazon, they are nice come with heat pads and they are daisy chainable, the ram I have is TeamGroup 3200, it has SK Hynix chips and is overclockable and even more overclockable with the heat sinks and pads I added, to be honest it works well for Ryzen 5 5600X and an RTX 3060 Ti, 750W bequite PSU. Honestly I feel good about this system moving forward, it performs great in games. If one is limited by the high price of ram these days this could be an option, it sure was for me!

Linus did a Memory comparison, and in his video's memory speeds matter...I also watched other vids showing live footage of gameplay, and i've seen 238fps vs 265fps, just from 2133 to 3200...mhz, so i'm not sure how they had a boost in fps that matters, and you didn't.

Yes you can but you won't be able to use the maximum potential of the 8gb... Your computer will recognize the 8gb ram but will count it as a 4gb it's because you have paired it with another 4gb...

did he say i7-6950X? Because if you search the max ram speeds online (which I did), you'll see it caps at 2400 MHz. Basically this test doesn't serve it's purpose, and I'm actually surprised there's even a difference since normally there shouldn't be (or at least minimal). So if you guys are buying ram you should follow his tips, but do expect there to be a bigger difference in performance than what you see here. Also very important, but you want to check your CPU's max ram speeds online before making any purchase to make sure you don't end up with the same results as this guy, who bought ram way to powerful for what his other components can handle (it doesn't damage the components nor the ram, it's just a waste of money unless you're thinking of upgrading in the future).Have a good day. :)
