This isn't a genuine oldschool, it's the Counter-Strike 1.6 on Steam. You can see the knife model at 6:10 . In 1.5 and previous, it was different.
Since 1.6, CS is a standalone game, and 1.5 and previous versions were a free mod for HL.
LAN was the main way for playing this game. People used to gather at cyber cafes to play, joke and have a good time. Sure, there was a lot of swearing, but it was all part of the experience (you could learn some new words, lol). Cafe in my town was always crowded, so there was a lounge where you could read gaming magazines and watch the TV while waiting for the PC. I even used to help my fellow high school buddies (and buddies of buddies) with math homework there while waiting! Old dudes used to gather at evening and night, while school kids were there for the rest of the day. Some kids would ditch a boring class just to go there and play. If you'd wait in a lounge for some time, guys working there would give you additional 10 or 15 minutes for free. They were really awesome and helpful, but they'd allow you to buy only 1 hour of gaming at the peak time, as there were a lot of people in a queue. The place was air conditioned all day during the summer. You could also buy 1 hour of internet time (dial up), and it was more expensive than 1 hour of gaming.
All games and operating systems were pirated, but no one cared, as there were no inspections to control cafes. Piracy was never considered as a synonym for stealing here in my place (and it's my attitude today as well). And that's one of the reasons why it cyber cafes were profitable business. And it helped them to keep their prices low. Today the situation is different all software must be legit.
    I really miss that time.
