In my 20s I suffered with this A LOT with Thrush. Hi Michelle :) I thought I would share my remedy to prevent yeast infections that come from taking antibiotics. Active live cultures work for me. Actually I would eat a cup of yogurt that had active live cultures, 3x a day as soon as I started my antibiotics. But now, I take probiotics 3x a day. I take this in capsule form. ...At least 25 billion at a time. And I do this until I finish my prescription. I used to get the most horrible yeast infections.

Epsom salt baths and triple antibiotic ointment. The triple antibiotic ointment that has the pain reliever in it is AWESOME and not for thrush alone, but for burns and cuts and fever blister relief also chapped lips and cheeks. Very informative and thank you for debunking those supposed home remedies. Since I use garlic in cooking all the time - getting crushed garlic on a finger cut is so painful, so can’t imagine inserting internally.

Gentian violet wasn’t mentioned and while it’s messy and will dye your skin and anything it comes in contact with it can work extremely well internally and externally for yeast infection. @r8chelletters thank you for your thoughtful comment. I've checked Gentian violet which is one of the older thrush remedies. Gentian violet has been banned in a number of countries because it's been identified as a potential carcinogen, plus toxic and has the potential to cause DNA mutations so not something advisable as a home remedy unfortunately. With diabetes this is going to be challenging owing to sugar in the urine. Obviously keeping sugar levels down and I wonder if it's worth using gentle external warm water douche and thorough drying after voiding? HRT is more of a challenge as this is a systemic medication and advisable to consult with a medical specialist about management. All the best Rachell!

I've been hearing that pharmaceutical HRT is very risky with the strong association with cancer. There are lots of natural substances that do not have those risks. I use DIM (diindolomethane) and an over the counter supplement called Estroven (the one in the lavender box-- called Mood Boost, due to the added B vitamins is the formulary that works best for me) to control hot flashes and night sweats. There is another Estroven formula that includes red clover extract, which works well for some women to control menopause symptoms. These are have to be taken consistently for up to 60 days to see the full effect, but I'm pressed because my doctors (all women) strongly recommend against standard HRT. (There's another OTC product called Amberen that I tried; it worked, but I opted for Estroven because it's much cheaper, but I've since noticed it is cheaper at Amazon. My friends who are into essential oils have said they get a lot of relief that way-- apparently a drop of peppermint oil on the back of the neck, and spread around gives instant relief for hot flashes (I would probably dilute it with coconut oil and put it in a roller bottle, or just buy a roller bottle of peppermint or spearmint (which is better for me since I find peppermint oil a bit strong to smell) if you're not that into essential oils. That would be a mood uplifted and help with low energy, too, btw!

canesten doesn't work in my instance but defo worth a try! Never worked for my mum either but she had been using it for years. I now use proskin candida and this natural treatment is outstanding. a tad messy though as it is oil based so I usually wear a couple of pairs of knickers when I need to apply it. Yet a friend of mine says she doesn't find it messy so I must be applying too much? Mum won't try it becasue she is a bit fussy about using new stuff.

I got my yeast infection from taking antibiotic amoxicillin so far it said 7 days supply should help i dont feel like it's helping enough just alittle on Miconazole Vaginal Antifungal it said it cured most yeast infections relieves associated external itching and irritation. I don't think 7 days this is going to cure but then again i don't know. Hey please don't use extra oils moisturizers down there they really mess up vaginal pH which can cause infections. So avoid all such things especially soaps with perfumes

I can say garlic works and is NOT dangerous. (Might be for some people, maybe if they are alergic to garlic, but even I am a little bit alergic to alicine in garlic when eating, but I can eat a small amount and have no problem inserting into vagina.) What I think is rather dangerous is chemical pharmaceuticals. I am always for firstly trying NATURAL remedies. I have a good experience with garlic, inserting a peeled clove overnight inside and removing in the morning. Many women do, I read it online and tried and it really works. Best is to choose a night when we don´t go to socialise very much the next day, because the smell gets into the mouth somehow, there is a connection between vaina and mouth... It really works pretty quickly. You will experience candida detox symptoms, such as tiredness after. It is good. Drink enough water, eat healthily.

Some great advice regarding the treatment of the symptoms but unfortunately canesten (which is the only treatment in your video that actually clears up the infection) no longer worked for me (stopped working for some friends and family members also ) so canesten should analyse why this is. I now use proskin candida, after seeing it recommended on an Australian forum, which is a natural alternative to canesten and it has cleared my up completely. It is soothing/cooling and is applied either via a spray or hand (like canesten cream). It is much more expensive than canesten but it lasts ages. Have you tried Probiotic capsules? Take one capsule a day containing at least 25 billion cfu. I'm not a doctor so I don't know for how long to take them but see if this helps.

You can read it on the label. Chobani brand has this. That helped with the itch but then I found probiotic capsules which had the "active live cultures", so I take them instead. They seemed to work much better. Not even a sign of itching. As a matter of fact, I just went through a week of antibiotics myself in which I started the probiotic capsules right away and I did just fine. The capsules I took had 60billion. I took 2 on the first day of antibiotics and then one, morning, noon and night. I never ended up with an itch.
Until you get to the store and if you're itching right now, use lots of baby powder and keep the area completely dry. This will give you some relief. Your problem only gets worse in a moist environment. Take a shower and dry off and use the baby powder. You'll get some relief until you start the capsules.
Candida is a fungal infection caused by yeast. Whatever your doctor gives you should cure the candida and the capsules will kill the yeast. It's a losing battle of you don't treat the yeast as well.
