This video makes me feel like my Vietnamese isn’t so terrible after all! If only everyone spoke so clearly and slowly 😂.

: D yeah sadly Vietnamese haven't developed the habit to speak slowly for foreigners but I think the young generation is changing toward it : )

I’ve mostly studied the southern dialect, but I have had some experience with listening to the northern dialect.

I agree that most Vietnamese people haven't had the routine to slow down when speaking to foreigners. So I'm making these videos that would be easy for learners to understand, to get accurate pronunciation, how the words sound but eventually they still need to practice natural speed by talking to locals.

Thanks for this video. I searched long to find some good stuff to listen to as an "experienced beginner" and this is exactly what I wanted (even if northern accent ;) )

Another great video! Thank you very much! Happened to be on a topic that I was very involved with. In July 2019 I arrived in Vietnam; when covid broke out we were advised to return. In my case it was Europe. But I saw how they handled covid in Vietnam and how they reacted in Europe and the USA and decided it was much safer to stay in Vietnam. I am 70+ and have some shortcomings, so very vulnerable. Friends of mine have also died of covid in Europe. However, I was safe in Danang. We had an outbreak in different hospitals once, but that was completely under control within a few weeks.
There were also coupons for the markets here, but Danang has a large supermarket and you could always go there. You did have to keep a distance of 3 meters, and your temperature was taken before you were allowed in.
Only when the new covid variant broke out in mid-2021, which spread much faster, could they no longer fully control it in Vietnam. And then I was forced to go back to Europe where they already had vaccines.
But throughout the year 2020 to mid 2021 I have always felt very safe and comfortable in Da Nang while, as I wrote, a few friends of mine in Europe didn't make it and many others got sick.
Of course there was not much to do in Da Nang, so I took that time to make some videos, including about the history of Da Nang. And I walked a lot and then wondered who the streets were named after. So I looked it up for various hiking routes (including one in Hoi An) and I wrote a booklet about those people and made a video about it. A Vietnamese artist drew the portraits and talks about it in the video.

@@SlowVietnamese It's always a pleasure, interesting and educational to see your video's both those with long and short hair. In October I will be in Da Nang again for a few months, I will definitely come to Hoi An, there are a whole series of food stalls on the river and one of my friends has one. It's a beautiful place to eat and it tastes delicious.
