    What fun! My orchard is 28 years old and have always wanted to get a apple eater and press. I think canning the juice will be a breeze. Your making memories with your grand children.😊

      Our orchard is only 4 years old so we know that the harvest will only get more abundant as the years go by. We've always wanted to make cider so it's another dream come true. (and yes, the grandchildren are already looking forward to next fall and cider-making)

    What a great gift to your family this farm has become. We, like many grandparents, would love the opportunity to invest in our children and grandchildren by providing these kinds of opportunities. You are blessed!

      We were surprised how much our children and grands enjoyed being on the farm. We also appreciate their help as well. We are blessed to enjoy time together with the family. We wish you and your family all the best in the new year!

    I grew up with a crab apple tree on our property and my mom made crab apple butter. Good memories.

      Yes, the grandkids loved it. Thanks for watching. We didn't video this particular honey harvest, but here is a video from the last harvest. We LOVE having fresh/raw honey. ruclips.net/video/uSX4iIDYIPc/видео.html&t

    Always enjoy seeing your vids, great info. Our ducks and red heritage turkeys wont eat the apples but our rabbits and chickens love them, we planted 4 apples trees this year but the heat killed all of them along with most of the other trees even with 5 gal of water each a day. Glad yours made it. God bless

      Our chickens did not take to them right away, but once they had time to taste them.....down they went. Sorry to hear about the new trees. We use bare root seedlings and they seem to do well. We had a dry summer and had to use irrigation more than usual. May God bless you and your family in the new year!

    This looks so fun! What a lovely family and good memories :) My sister keeps bees and my son helped her extract honey from the comb once when he was little and it was so cute. He'd love to do apples I'm sure :)

      The grandkids have really enjoyed learning all about where their food comes from. They especially love picking food right from the garden and eating it right away.

    What a wonderful way to use up loads of apples! In the UK we call that apple juice, cider is the alcoholic version! Happy New year from us to you xoxoxo

    • @waardenburgfamilyfarm4764
      @waardenburgfamilyfarm4764  8 месяцев назад +1

      I think there is a lively debate on juice v cider naming in the states as well. Locally, we say apple juice is highly processed (clear) and pasturized, while cider is pressed but not filtered, and hard cider is the alcoholic version. Years ago we could buy unpasteurized cider....but now food regulations require pasteurized (which I think kills some of the taste). Happy New years to our friends across the pond!

    Wow, so cool to use your harvest to make your own cider. Is grape juice, or pear juice next?

      We have pears in the orchard and would love to try the juice next year. We do not have grapes growing at this time....maybe someday!

    You can preserve the flavor by freezing the juice in plastic jugs in your freezer. Bottling takes away the fresh pressed flavor.

    • @waardenburgfamilyfarm4764
      @waardenburgfamilyfarm4764  8 месяцев назад

      Yes, you make a great point. Next year we will be sure to allow space in our freezer for the good stuff!

    • @waardenburgfamilyfarm4764

      About half of the apples were from our orchard. Our orchard is only 4 years old so the crop is growing each year. Hopefully next year 100% will be our apples!
