I think the issue here is that we keep giving teams we should be thrashing confidence when we should be increasing our goal difference and Keeping a clean sheet. Fulham scored a last minute goal last season with 10 men because we let them in the game,Same as Westham and Villa.

Nah but today was not impressive we shouldn’t be putting ourselves in that position. And in the last 18 months we’ve seen the same very mistakes (missing chances, not playing with a good tempo, giving away cheap goals when we have total control) that have cost us in other games before (Fulham, Villa, West Ham last season, Brighton this season)
Considering we lost the league by 2 points last season we need to be doing a lot better because when you think about we mostly concede due to our own mistakes and inefficiencies

Rotation is a must. Today, Jesus couldn't make the most of the opportunity and he looks totally shorn of confidence. Sterling wasn't terrible but didn't light the place up either. The stand in players DO NEED time to cook though so patience is required.

None of our players play 1 position or 1 way they each play in the forward line or in midfield depending on the formation. Stop hanging too hard on the formation graphic sky sports or nbc put up at the start of the game. All our players are signed bc they can play multiple positions. Game state dictate what position each play. Maybe Raya plays 1 position even him. So the whole out of position does not exist w Arteta’s philosophy. That position thing has been gone since 2010 2014.

Kai doesn't work as a 8,Partey isn't a RB nothing complicated are about that. He has to decide whether Kai is a forward or a 8. We had better options on the bench for that position. Havertz and Saka bailed us out and at this point it's pretty clear we can only rely on Havertz and Saka as our attackers and we need a good Young Winger to compete as martinelli is good but in patches.

Saka and Havertz won us the game. But they were on the whole game. It was bringing on Trossard and Martinelli that bailed us out. That’s when we fixed the press and finally got it right…. Which allowed Saka and Havertz to show their class.
This was the right game to rotate. Only blame the 2 or so players that didn't take their chance. You can't play the same players every time. Only thing i wouldn't do is start Partey at RB. Risky for him, and he doesn't have that engine to run all day.

Both of you are clueless. As a DM, he normally has to cover at right back and center back regularly. It does not matter where he starts at kickoff he still always rotates between DM full back and Centerback. It was in 2005 when right backs are only right backs or midfielders are only midfielders. Especially in Arteta’s system all our players rotate into many positions thought out the game. also we had all right backs injured so made sense to start partey and take him off at the end. There is a lot involved in managing squads than you think.
You are the clueless one. No player covers more ground on the pitch than a full back. And you definitely know that Partey's game is about intelligent passing. Not running. Full backs require different attributes. You clearly see he contributed nothing going forward. Tomi was around. Calfiori could have played there n Kivior on the left. Worked perfectly last weekend.
Putting Kai back in midfield was ludicrous. Not playing Nwaneri or Skelly was ludicrous. Hope this helps.

Funnily enough, there is only so much you can do, no individual errors that led to a goal... Southampton played above expectations. It's is expected from a professional football team. At the end of the day, we won, that's all that matters

Too much rotation = lack of chemistry. If you're going to try and introduce Sterling you need to keep Havertz up top and the midfield the same. If you're going to try and get Jesus back to form you need to start Martinelli on the left.

Calafiori, puts in a great tackle one minute, good going forward and then gets skinned defensively the next minute. He’s not consistent defensively. When White comes back, I’d rather have him on the right and Timber on the left. Calafiori has been exposed at least once in every game he’s played. I felt a sense of relief when Tomi and Kiwior came on.
Absolutely agree. I like the guy, he is one of the few good players in the current Italian national team, but he usually gets higher ratings for Arsenal games than he deserves. There is some reason why he plays as CB for the national team, although he has played sometimes as LB for some of his previous clubs. I know he's still getting used to the new league and club, but in every game he commits a significant defensive mistake at least once. I also feel more confident with White and Timber, also with Tomiyasu.
Only way he’s going to get better is by playing every game. Gabriel was making mistakes at the back and look at him now. Cali is going to be top top player .

Their cross bar Armstrong was holding Rayas arm the whole time. Don't get how is it luck the last game Justin had a deflected goal and a worldie goal out of an xG of 0.4

If he wanted to rest players then Saka and Kai were the players to rest. Otherwise your arguments about rotation are invalid. Those two players are the most used players who will also be overused during the international break. Since he played them he didn't need to rotate. Play your strongest team especially with a IB coming up. We got lucky just like last weekend. Southampton hit the bar twice soon or later that luck will run out. The last 2 years are evident enough to remind you we cannot be complacent. Especially in games like this which cost us.

The squad is incredibly imbalanced and that isn’t on arteta. We have no urgency or killer instinct or depth in midfield or attacking. We won’t win anything this year because of a lack of spending and edu’s “plan” this summer. No backup for Saka. No backup for odegaard if you can’t start Ethan in this game. No backup to Havertz up front

Hate to say it, as before the injury, he was class for us, but the writing is on the wall for Jesus. He's a level below this team now, and as we saw once again today, when Arteta tries to cater to Jesus, but dropping Havertz into midfield so Jesus can play up top, it just does not work. As soon as he came off, we went up a level, and the goals came shortly after.
You forget Martins impact on how we play, I think its great that we can play this good and win without him.
