      Absolutely, I feel like there is resemblance. Both humble, honest, hardworking people with respect for beauty in nature especially. And just like many Japanese people enjoy Lohikeitto, I fell in love with Sushi on the first taste.
      We may be far apart on the globe, but I like to think we are very close at heart :)

    It was wonderful to hear how well you speak Finnish. And this was a wonderful video. Thank you for making videos about Finland! Nice to see how you enjoy rafting. I wouldn't dare try it myself.❤ BTW I saw my first Aurora Borealis in Sodankylä very long time ago.

    Nothing to do with rice on the hiking trail. Comes from Same language word riis or ries, which means shrub or sapling. Sapling Hill if you like.

    Looks like you had a lot of fun in Ruka and Kuusamo! I visited there last February and went for a 5km husky safari ride which was truly amazing. Riisitunturi looked gorgeous then as all the trees were under a very thick snow blanket so they looked like frozen abstract statues. Hope you get the chance to visit there again in the winter time, too. But right now, let's keep enjoying the summer 😊

    As a native of Koillismaa it always makes me happy to see people visiting Kuusamo and Posio. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit. Seeing more reindeer than people is just your average day in north-eastern Finland😂. And I love that Kitkankylä country road, hope you didn't find driving around too monotonous, since the distances are pretty long.
    You had one mistake there, the flower you called Metsätähti is actually Ruohokukka. Metsätähti has usually seven petals and is more delicate in appearance. I hope this wasn't a test how many "umm, actually's" you can get😂.
    If you plan to visit again, I would recommend visiting Korouoma nature trail and Pentikmäki culture center, I see someone already recommended Karhunkierros hiking trail😊.
    I like how peaceful and honest your videos are. I don't usually comment on videos, but since you visited my heart's home Riisitunturi, I'll give you that engagement for the algorhitm 🫶

    Kirjoitan suomeksi, koska useampia videoitasi katsoneena osaat suomea jo aika hyvin.

    That was some seriously expensive Pizza.. 20 or more €s... In my neck of the wood...(Turku)
    Regular pizzeria/kebab place pizzas goes 9-13€... (Makes me wonder how many of this places,(mostly owned by immigrants) in larger cities at least
    ..takes care 100% of their taxes, pays minimum salary and insurance payment etc 🤔)
    But even in more fanciers pizzerias it's considerably cheaper..

    I would recommend not going to Lapland during July. Early June is fine and from middle of August onwards. There is this called "räkkä" which is the word used for the worst mosquito and blood sucking gnat season up there. Literal black swarms of those insects at places that can leave you requiring hospital treatment from all the hundreds if not thousands of bites.

    • @DAIKIFinlandLife
      @DAIKIFinlandLife  Год назад +1

      It was nice in July

    • @j3mixa
      @j3mixa Год назад

      Unless you have an allergy to insect bites it's very rare that you would need medical help even in July. It may not be for everyone and of course you should be prepared. Have some covering clothing and mosquito repellent with you and you'll be fine. I've been picking cloudberries in Lapland ever since I was 2 years old, so about 40 years and would never want to stay away from there in July. Räkkä is different every year. There has been some years when I've worn a t-shirt and no repellent and then there's been years that you need to be fully clothed or be eaten alive. But eather way, there is no place better than a swamp in Lapland in July. Amazing experience every year.
