I've had three. At 12 years old and 1975 my dad brought home my first 1968 850 spider. Said kid you want to pay for the car or do you want to pay for the parts. Told him I'd pay for both and he said that ain't what I asked you kid now I'm going to ask one more time choose wisely. That was my dad. So I paid for the car $650. He paid for all the parts and over the course of a year I had taken out and labeled every single screw cable lever glass and seals bearings everything cleaned categorized labeled and reassembled by me with instruction from him. Now that's the way to teach a kid how to love an automobile. And I love him greatly for this wisdom handed down from father to son and perhaps Sunday God willing I will have the opportunity to do this with my children.
What's not to love? This is a true home-built sports car, you are an inspiration to all car builders. You need to take us all for a longer ride! Little Walter ain't so bad either!
I had one of these 850 spiders back in the day. Most fun street usable car I ever had. I loved that I could use the whole engine on the street; run it up to redline, etc, without getting a ticket. I love yours even more. Looks like great fun
I really had some doubts way back when you started this project. Congratulations on building a unique car. I'm sure you will tinker with the suspension and get it working to your liking.
I was a bit skeptical, but you totally blew me away, huge respect for putting this thogether so quickly and reliably. Especially after having to go back to work. Your work ethics is next level. And the car looks great, very clean and neat. Really envy you!
This project is amazing! A ton of work, but amazing! Thanks for sharing with us. I’m still waiting for the FJ videos, but love all the others you’re working on.
Cool. My next door neighbor had a GSXR that was equipped with an air actuated clutch and shifter. He could shift up or down at the push of a button. You could get paddles on the steering column. It requires a tiny air compressor, and a small air tank. He had nitrous injection, too.
Amazing. This kind of creativity and ingenuity really inspires! I bet that balance and weight distribution on it is incredible. One thing you could consider for the heat blocking for the header is two separate layers with a little bit of air space between them. I think that would do better than one beefy heat blocking layer.
Love the 850! In college I worked for a Fiat mechanic who refused to work on 850's because every time one was in the shop for simple work something else would always break. Looks like you are replacing all the weak Fiat bits. I also grew up down the hill from you at Torrance Beach and learned never to speed in PV!
Great work just make her more comfortable you appear to have more power then you will ever need love the way you describe how you came too and build each section
Wondering why more ppl don’t see yr videos so leaving a comment. I guess I lucked out and found yr channel. Hope this helps others to find yr content. Awesome stuff!
Oh my!! That has to be the coolest DIY you done. It’s simply amazing and I wish I could have a ride in it. The speed, the sound, and the ticket😆Seriously congratulations and I’m so glad you finished it despite all the obstacles.
With the cone/ram of the flaring tool centered in the die/tube, rotate the ram part of the tool until its arms contact the tube clamping part. Holding it in that position, while tightening the ram, keeps it centered in the die/tube, resulting in a nice flare, and in not breaking the die. Don't ask me how many bad flares and broken dies are behind me - too many.
Awesome build 👍 Have discussed the concept of a 850 Spider with a motorcycle engine swap many times with friends almost always after a few beers.. would personaly prefered a Ducati or Aprilia engine but i'm happy someone have made it IRL 😅
I don't know how it shifts gears, but you could try with quickshifter for them hill rides...both hands on the steering wheel and faster shifts...you can push it a bit more, and enjoy some more adrenaline rushes :D.
Jared - amazing indeed! Way better than the unit that inspired you to build this FIAT - you have great solutions and looks. Three thumbs up for the way you implemented the shifter, the clutch and the reverse -- that other shifter with the hand operated clutch and gear change just doesn't look good in a car. I'd only say that GIPro gear indicators can be unreliable - I've got one on my Honda, and it broke down after three years.
Well done Jared! That thing screams! Was wondering how it was progressing in your several week absence. My wife was watching out of the corner of her eye on the couch and she knows your videos inspired me to buy an Islander and now looking for an S800. She just said, “don’t even think about it” (Oh and by the way, I did see Hagerty sampled your video on the s600 drivetrain rebuild. Respect!)
Must be a hoot to drive. Shame you couldn't get the gear shift to work opposite. Pull back to change up and forward to change down. Far easier to use while accelerating hard.
Way to go Jared! I haven't seen your channel for a while but i did see a couple of your build videos on the Fiat. Are the gear ratios from the motorcycle good for your car? How does it accelerate and what do you think is the top speed? What about cornering and handling? Lots of questions! BTW, are you going to attend the Porsche 356 Registry's West Coast Holiday in Paso Robles this September? Hope to see you and your 356 there! - Dan from NorCal
Yes I will be at the WCH in Paso Robles with the 356. Look forward to meeting you. On the Fiat the gear ratio is much different now due to the diff and the chain drive. Not sure on the top speed yet, handling is good now and should be even better once the suspension is set up properly.
Nice build brother, do you have to make special connections for the led lights? Sorry about the ticket, it’s so difficult to take it easy I get it drive safe and I’ll catch you on the next one.
No special connections needed but you need to replace your old flasher relay with a new one designed to work with led lights. The new flasher is about $12. I put links in the description.
@@Jerod_Helt Yah, it'll be electronic. The reason why a standard flasher doesn't work is an LED doesn't draw enough current to heat the bi-metal strip inside and trip the contacts on/off.
Can't wait to see you go head to head with matt's Honda
^^^this!!!

I've had a few MG's over the years. This would be a fun build. Maybe a mid engine Midget. A Mid-Get
Thanks for the updates
Kewl Ride!!👍👍👍
Outstanding work, Jared… I would like to see you get together with the car that inspired this build, and see you guys go around a track together.
Thanks for the content. Greetings from Brazil.
Such a cool build there my friend.. no way in hell I'd be capable of producing something like this
Amazing !!! I love this build & the way you've problem solved & packaged everything so well ! Well done, Congratulations
Simple definition……..Awesome. 🇺🇸👍🏻
Very cool! I'm glad Walter is doing well, too!!
You make it look easy....awesome build, love it!!!
Now the acceleration is crazy; worthy of a motorcycle…🤣 Great to see the little guy recouping well. Great job, Jared!
Super impressive,
Well done.
Make the kit, take my money!
I like your Dad’s reaction to it firing up
The speed you built this in is incredible, and the result! Just epic, well done, made a proper job of it!
Awesome work! Thing rips!
Great work 👍
This is amazing....a dream car
I watched this again with no sound, and found myself laughing, and smiling. Supremely entertaining! Thanks 🙏🏻
Awesome!

just .....WOW!
Excellent! One of the best builds on youtube. 👍🏻 I really like the front lights. The sound is out of this world…

Great project - think to be so skilled and be able to build such a vehicle - it is a great pleasure to get to see it finished...
Nice job. Enjoy the ride. Happy Motoring!

Very impressive! I had fogotten about the reverse you installed. Great job.
I owned a 1973 fiat spider in highschool, I've only seen a few in my life
Congratulations on a little ripper
Hey, you're back!
Yay!
Man, it turned out great!
Always looking forward to more videos from you.
Thanks, and Woof to Walter (and the cone of shame)!
Quite the accomplishment with that project! Well done!
Quite the job on your thumb too... that had to hurt.
Been waiting for this since I saw you had it driving on IG a couple of weeks ago.
Wondering why more ppl don’t see yr videos so leaving a comment. I guess I lucked out and found yr channel. Hope this helps others to find yr content. Awesome stuff!

Congratulations.. Amazing Project 💯
Excellent job. I've got a 67 850 Coupe and this would turn it into a tiny Ferrari 250 SWB.
Nice job, I built a honda s800 coupe with a kawasaki zx9r engine. Great fun to drive. Glad your still posting vids regularly. 👍
Amazing build… please continue.
So cool! Makes me want to put a sportbike motor in my Fiat 124...
Love it man, that thing is awesome, waiting for the landcruiser completion
I love this build and honestly it didn't take you that long
You did it, congrats! Looks great and sounds even better. The S600 is going to be jealous.
Huge congratulations. Incredible build. Looking forward to more content with it, hopefully.
Awesome build, looks like it runs great and has good low end torque.
Very cool! Congratulations!
Such an amazing work. Hats off sir
Damn. Y’all got it going on. Amazing job on this car. Great work on the vid as well.

Nice work bud!
Great work man keep it up! That exhaust work is amazing
wow

To work like that with your dad and brother, I envy you.

Thanks for the heads up on the indicator, it was way more expensive then I expected and the quality is not very good. But at least it works for now.
Fantastic build!
I have another 73 850 with a couple different hard tops in Maryland if you're interested
Turned out great!
My only thought would be to change the shifter so you pull back to go up in gears.
I thought the same ;)
Well, that's pretty damn cool!
good job, pretty cool...I bet your dad and brother want one of their own...Dave/WBA
New subscriber here!! Absolutely incredible build. I will be starting a channel with a 1928 MMorgan Aero build when it gets warmr here in PA.....
That is awesome. Great job.
Way to go. :-)
Just great, awesome design.
You just need a quick shifter on it now.
That is definitely cool.
that looks so fun

Interesting stuff
Maybe you could do a shop tour video. I think that it would be interesting.
Only too cool ,had to bookmark your video .

Yes
It sounds great..just wonder if you can build for someone else and how much will cost..
Sorry I don’t work on other peoples cars, I barely have time to work on my own projects.
Absolutely love it!!!!
amzing work!Bravo!
How about learning English ?
Its rare I like modded small cars and this one I really like.
Epic absolutely Epic!!!
This is amazing. I need a garage 🙃
Cool car !
🙂
I think you used the motorcycle clutch in the car. How do you feet about it's ability to hold up. What do you think about it in general?
Yes I’m using the motorcycle clutch. It seems to work fine. But the car is also very light, and it’s geared pretty low.
@@Jerod_Helt Thanks
