It's not only needed for 8k60. Once you for example add the Tascam audio adapter, you'll need the 9V power solutions in modes with more than 30fps. There's a menu in the video portion of the Canon R5C, that is called "Power Source Navigation" and that tells you what is required in what situation.
Oh yeah. Absolutely.. and for adding panning in post or a zoom in or out. Definitely some benefits if you can afford the cost of space or manage it well.
I almost only use 8K RAW LT 60, I will make a video as I want to prove to me if my theory is right, that a cheap lens in 8K-RAW 60p is sharper and nicer than a expensive lens at the same mm in 4k oversampled 60p. If I am right, then we could save money for lenses and use used EF-lenses instead of new RF-objectives and then invest this money in better hardware and fast storage to handle the 8K RAW better. I always see a difference between 8K RAW and oversampled 4K on my computer monitor and on a 4K 65" TV (with the same lenses). As I am not producing for others, I have time to work with 8K RAW and if I had to delyver fast, maybe I would also work more in 4K.
Great video! I've just got an Anker PowerCore Elite III with 60W PD and when I connect it in video mode I get the PD icon. But what happens then is that I cannot change any video format settings, why is that? Any idea? Battery fully charged, internal and external powerbank. I also cannot shoot in 8K60, why is that? The powerbank has 9V 3A USB PD. Would be awesome if you could let me know what's the issue because I got a shoot coming up but I don't know what I am doing wrong.
Sorry bud, no idea, I am able to change all settings with the version I purchased. There is a menu on power settings, see what it tells you. Try different usb cable in case it is faulty and not pushing enough juice.
PR1SM, please let me know if you are able to get the PowerCore Elite III up and running. I had this in my Amazon cart as it's 1/2 the price of his recommended PowerCore+. One thing I notice in the descriptions of those 2 Anker units is that the more expensive PowerCore+ unit has "60W PD Charger" listed but the Elite III does not say that. Perhaps that is the reason the Elite III doesn't cut it??
@@Ridgeback65 Get it while you can! It works flawless. For using it while recording or just outputting the HDMI signal to a capture card you'll not have to worry about batteries at all. On the back of my PowerCore III it shows: PowerCore III Elite 26K 60W I'm not sure if there is any other versions but the one I bought was listed as (Amazon): Anker PowerCore III Elite 25600 PD
@@pr1sm55 Thanks! Ok so your initial problems about changing video format settings resolved themselves? Also, approximately how much time do you get from the PowerCore III Elite?
@@Ridgeback65 Let me check for you today, I'll run the R5C in 4K today with a 512gb card and let you know how long till battery dead with 2 original canon batteries attached. I'm thinking 5h+ around. For the video settings I resolved it by doing a camera reset. So whenever something doesn't work, just reset it and it should be good to go. I get PD icon and all formats up to 8K 60P in the camera now.
Absolutely insane that Canon charges $160 for the DC coupler - does it have anything in it or is it just providing a connection between the barrel connector and the battery pins inside the camera?
Oh yeah, they will use it until they do a couple of 15-30 minute video productions and realize how much space and time it takes. I have about 40 Tarabytes of space and 4k alone is eating at it pretty quickly. 😂 😂 It's the main reason I have not forked out the extra $260 yet. I know in the end I will not use and it's a waste of money. If I need the Xtra power for the mic, I may upgrade.

Very helpful thanks
8K has proved lovely for those shots that need heavy stabilization and result in a cropped image yet still retain +4K resolution.

It has a regulator built in I think so no surge but year definitely overpriced. But that is probably the case for all name brand camera accessories
very helpful, thank you !
great to hear. thanks for watching
I think most people will shoot 8K60 once because it is there… and then will decide that 4K works great for most workflows.

I only shoot 8k60 since I got an r5c so I can slowmo and crop as I like but I don't shoot long form or interviews etc.
