What I find really moving is when Pete tells Bov that if he wants to make up for what he did he should get his brother's family out of there. He saw his sister-in-law and nephew were in danger and provoked Tommy into killing him sacrificing his own life to save his family. There clearly was good in him. I am a lifelong Liverpool supporter. However, I told him that as soon as we got out of the tube station I was going to keep quiet until I got to the ground and be in view of the police at all times. My friend said it was a tradition that every time he went to the Den they'd go to a local pub for a drink. I said no way. He insisted. I stayed by the door as he had his drink. Then my friend told his friends that I was a Liverpool supporter. I was about to run and then his friends came up to me, shook hands and said "welcome to the Den. Come and have a drink with us." They said that they didn't want the reputation of being hooligans and thugs. They wanted the Den to be a place where families, women, and children could come and watch a game and where supporters of all clubs could come in safety. I was still on edge. However, they walked me to the away end of the Den. Then they shook hands as I went in and said "may the best team win!" On the way back they walked me back to the tube station and stayed with me until we got back to the mainline. They asked that when I got home I told the authorities at Liverpool FC about this which I did. They were truly very decent people. We need more like that.
