    I’m a 50+ yr old Jeep lover who also happens to be a woman. Bought my LED headlights as they were advertised as plug and play. Arrived needing extra wiring. I watched all kinds of videos and kept putting it off as none of them explained how to do it in a way I could understand (i.e. Wiring for Dummies). When I watched this video I knew I could do it! Thank you for great instructions and clear explanations. Best RUclips video!

    I REALLY HOPE YOU GET TO READ MY COMMENT: and am a solo mom. I have worked in maintenance and tool and die making but I know nothing about cars. I bought a 2014 JKU with crap headlights. I wanted to put new ones in myself. I watched a dozen videos on how to do it. This is 100% the best video. Your sound is great. The details are perfect. Not skipping around. No unnecessary information. Absolutely the best how to video I have ever seen. Well done, Sir

    There's always multiple ways to do things and this is by far the best I've seen. You're absolutely right, why run all that unnecessary wiring to the fuse box and use fuse taps when you have everything you need inches away on the turn signal. So clean and great detail explaining why and how you're doing it your way.

    Over three years old and this video is still helping people. I got some Seward G5s with no instructions, but this worked perfectly. I think Seward may even be out of business now. One of the little parasite taps had a wonky connection and just wouldn't work until I replaced it. The passenger's side light wouldn't fit right, but your advice was spot on. My 2016 Wrangler is happy with the blinkers, DLRs, High and Low Beams---all working perfect.

      Joseph thanks for checking out the video. I no longer have this Jeep. They worked great the 6 months I had them. You can always buy a better headlight and wire it in the same way. Most headlights with 100 reviews or more are probably going to be fairly good. SUNPIE, AUXbeam, KC, HI-beam, and any other light brand will have the same wire combo. I hope this helps.

    I have to echo the sentiments expressed by everyone else here. This is by far, the best, most comprehensive headlight install video/tutorial I've found. I installed my Axial LED Halos with Turn Signals a couple of days ago, and they look fantastic. The video took me through every step, and the zip tie logic helped me keep things tidy. I did have a problem that took me 2 days to figure out. I couldn't get the turn signals and DRLs to work without turning the headlights completely on.. The wiring was fine, but I did not attach the vampire connecters correctly. Once I replaced the vampire connectors and crimped the connection first and then snapped them shut every worked like a charm! Thank you for such a great video. Now I'm looking at replacement fog lights!

    It's better to test the LB and HB headlights are functional before wiring the DRL and TS. Some of these lights come with incorrectly wired pigtail connectors like mine did. Twice. Then you have to put everything back like it was and order a pair of KC Hilite pigtails which will fix your wiring issue. THEN do the hard wiring. Great video!

    Wanted to thank you for a great install video. I won a pair of these from another company and installed them yesterday. The wire colors were different ( I had black and yellow wires coming off of the led's and they were pre-set with male ends that were covered ), but other than that everything worked exactly the same. I wired my following your instructions ( I had to guess which of the led wires was which- yellow turned out to be the amber lights ) and everything works great. I did run into the same problem that I see posted here: the halos only work if I have the "running lights" selected, which is a bummer, I always run my light on auto ( yes, I'm lazy like that ) and had hoped that the halos would turn on with the ignition. I also had no luck with the Walmart clips, tried several and it was a no-go. I went to my local auto parts store and picked up another brand and they connected the first time ( maybe user error, I've never had good luck with those things ! ).

    I used to have these lights but had to return after a week. There really is no issue with wiring everything up, my only complaint was the light output. I have tried and tried again to get these dialed in to where I want and while not blinding oncoming traffic, there was no other way. I’ve tried 3 different sets and the outcome was the same. I guess I have to stay stock for now until I can get the factory mopar led for a clean cut off. I am very picky when it come these things. Great job on the video though I’m sure others will benefit from it, thanks.

I skipped through a few parts, like how to use an in-line crimp because honestly, if you don't know how those work, you have no business doing any sort of wiring!!! LOL... anyway, this video should be tagged as the OFFICIAL video on how to install ANY halo / DRL LED for a Jeep JK. You could sell this to the light manufacturers and make some money! Ordered the same lights and installed them this afternoon. This video was a great primer, and so helpful. Bought all the connectors and the zip ties too. As a complement to these carefully represented instructions, I found that the latest product comes with the wires that you route to the turn signal for the halos. In fact they already had the female connectors and were pre-stripped. All you had to do was just slip off the already cut wire coating. Those light blue wire connectors were a little finicky though. Took a couple of tries to get the metal piece to cut through the rubber coating. Other things to note, my product also came with yellow and white wires. The white ones were the constant power for DRLs. So others may not need the extra wires or male and female connectors shown in this video. Lastly, the fixtures have tabs in the back to help align them when you do the final positioning. For mine, and I imagine for others, the tabs did not set in the factory notches. What I did to accomplish the proper setting was to cut out some of the plastic bracket and file down the opening and the fixtures positioned as I believe they were intended. As noted in the video the light output is excellent, and the halos just “seal the deal”.

      I wish I would have gone in and read this before putting mine in last night! I for the life of me couldn't find anything online with the yellow and white wires. I finally just took a 50/50 shot thinking "yellow must be blinker" ha! Probably should have opened the box before running my wires and installing female connectors since they are already pre-wired with them now. I didn't have to do any cutting, but they are super tight. I'm waiting on my no cut crimp pieces to come in tonight so I can finish up. I'll get them aligned and if I have any issues I'll get that file going. Thanks Evan and Jeep-tv for the awesome video.

    As others have stated, awesome video and thought process to make this an easy install. I just installed mine today. Only issues were the clamps not working on 2 of the four. So I stripped my wire on the butt and took a little off the factory wire and re-clamped and that solved it. Also, didn't realize the parking lots had to be on for the DRLs. I get it now that I think about it, but if you wanted always on DRLs, that's where running the line to the box would be needed. I installed the Ovotor "V" Type lamps and the Anti-Flicker kit (sold separately) in my '16 Wrangler.

    • @sdallnct
      @sdallnct 5 лет назад

      steve kravitz Good comment. I would like like “always on” DRL as I feel a good safety feature. However, I’m not sure I like the headlight turn signal. Tho, I could see in some circumstances that would be a good safety feature as well (no one head on should be confused if you are turning! Lol). After a long road trip, I’m considering doing this. The stock lights are just so bad.

    This video was awesome and made the install a breeze. I guess the only negative to wiring fully to turn signals is that the halos only work if you have lights in parking position and sending power to turn signals, unless I did something wrong. I wish the halos would run with just the key on. Everything else works perfect and it in sync!

    • @wesleybausch4840

      @@andrewpleger488 that is correct unless you wire them all the way back to battery. I have to put in parking position for them to light up like normal DRLs. They still blink correctly worth turn signals either way and of course come on when auto kicks on headlights but during day, it needs to be in park wiring them to tuen signals.

Black, windows need new regulators, but the Engine is tight af and all the fluids look new. -And also, was only 1200. (and was the ONLY used car in 600 Miles for under 4000 that actually ran.) I found a pair of black LED headlights I am hell bent on wanting to install on this thing and will find a way to do it even if I have to use spare UFO parts from my neighbor's garage. The DRL's on the ones I picked up look they belong on a stealth fighter, Lol.. Love'em. I have seen a vid where someone swapped similar, aftermarket Wrangler LED Headlights on a same-gen Liberty, but the mounting bracket he used is apparently a freaking matter of National Security?? Still haven't found the damn thing. Anyway, Just a shout out and a congrats, They look Dope!

    • @Jeeptv

      Ressie Taylor Fog lights are just factory. If you have a set of Halo Fog lights I’m sure you can run them off of the blinker power as well.

    • @Jeeptv
      @Jeeptv  3 года назад

      Yea that’s correct. If you want them to be on with out any other lights you have to run it to the fuse box. Once you run it to the fuse box you will need to put a switch inline to turn them on and off.

    Quick question, when tapping into the hot wire (white) of the turn signal/parking light does the DRL function only with the parking lights on or when the Jeep is turned to ACC or running? I want to tap into the wires like you have but want the DRL to be on when in ACC or running not just when the parking lights are on.

    • @Jeeptv
      @Jeeptv  4 года назад

      Neil Powers Sorry for the late response. If you tap into the lights you have to turn the light switch over to parking lights. So your front Parking lights will be on with the halos. You may want to run a wire to the fuse box and put them on a switch if you just want halos only.

    Easily the best headlight install video on youtube! Just got a 15' JK about three weeks ago and plan on getting these headlights but I have one question. I've read online that with the stock headlights DRL mode won't work unless you use one of those procal tuning devices to enable it. Did you have to do that with these headlights for the halos to stay on or does the way you wired it make it work like it's supposed to? Looking forward to upgrading to these headlights, but I'm hoping I don't have to spend another $150 to get a procal module. Thanks for the awesome video!

      richard pena Thanks for checking out my channel. I did not have to us a super chip. On my wife or my Jeep. There has only been a few people on here that have had to. Most people have a Euro Jeep or from Canada and the computers need 🖥 to be flashed to re-set. If you place your key in the ignition and your head lights come on automatically you probably are going to need the chip. If not you should be ok. Good luck on your headlight project. Let me know if you need any help I try my best to walk you through.

  • @dennischaves7187

    Only one problem that I am seeing in your wiring is the DRL. you have to leave your parking lights on for the DRL to work, which is not what it is supposed to do, they should be wired to a wire that gets power as soon as you turn your key, not a light switch, kind of defeats the purpose, however this was a great tutorial on installing and I like your attention to details when it comes to the wiring.

    • @Jeeptv
      @Jeeptv  6 лет назад +2

      Dennis Chaves Thanks for checking out my channel. You are correct. This video is for the people who are electrically challenged and need an easy install to get the halo look. I found a really cool loop hole for people to get there lights installed with out all the extra wiring and its still functional. Unlike me and you a lot of people just put there keys in the Jeep and go. You and I have wired up toggle switches, POD kits for Jeeps under the hood for multiple outlet usage. Heck I wired my 10in sub through an adapter that is jumped off the factory sub wiring. lol Anyway I’m glad you enjoyed my video and clean wire install. At least I hope everyone else’s uses as many zip ties as I do. I zip tie everything. Thanks again. 👍👍👍👍👍

    Great video. They are getting better each time. Love those lights very well instructed video on the install. I'd love to run those but in my experience with snow and ice and running my floods and fogs (amber xprites fogs and auxbeam floods) on my 34 mile commute home 30 minutes of it being Highway they get snow build up on the lens and significant decrease in light output. So I'm going to go a different route need heated lens so going to stay halogen h4 setup with KC housings probably. Don't want to spend 600 for Trucklite heated leds just yet until I hear long term reviews on then still working well at least over 5 yrs. Again great video. Glad I subscribed.

    • @Jeeptv
      @Jeeptv  6 лет назад

      I have never thought about that. So if there is no heat to burn off or melt the ice I guess with the LED it just sticks and builds up until the lights are just crap. Thank goodness I don’t have to think about that and battle cold starts.

    • @Jeeptv
      @Jeeptv  6 лет назад

      BTW one of my exprite fog lights are now brighter than the other. Not sure what its all about but my O.C.D may kick in and force me to try some new lights soon.

      SPARE TIME VIDEOS haven't had that issue yet love the look of them and that noone around my area has them. Yeah no issues so far. Maybe one of the connection has loosened up . When I put mine on I zipp tied them and wrapped electrical tape around them. Maybe simple as one became a lil loose.

    • @truckerrickakamanowar
      @truckerrickakamanowar 6 лет назад

      SPARE TIME VIDEOS unfortunately yeah that is the case I didn't realize myself until I drove home in a snow storm a few weeks ago. Some say they have no issues but those guys probably do not commute and drive on the highway in these conditions at least not very long. That's when I realized LEDs at least unheated would not be a good choice for me function and safety wise. God bless you and yours and have a Happy New Year.

      First off thank you for watching my videos. I hope it was a help to your project. The Red wire goes to the middle wire on the blinker. It’s the DRL power wire. If you have any more ??? Just let me know...

      You will install the headlight and plug in the main power plug like normal. There is one power wire that runs the Halo. You can either run it to the fuse box and plug it into F8 or you can tap into your constant power wire for the blinker.
