those are not inserts, they are the stock 2016 JK Sahara Grill. You can buy the replacement, as you see in the video it comes off quite easily. There are more Jeep Videos on the CoolToys TV Channel. I am sure you can find one of the grills complete from someone that swapped out for aftermarket. I tried to use the rugged ridge chrome grill inserts and the Sahara and Rubicon had different grills. The whole thing is available as a factory part too. $400 OEM though so I'd check with local 4x4 shop and look for someone to swap out.
Yes, they did fail for us too, but we ended up with the newer version from the manufacturer, you can see then new ones on our updated video on KühlToys, kuhltoys.com/halo-headlights-projector-style The newer projector style had a much brighter light and were more accurately set for better night driving in the mountains and off road.
Thanks for the video. I am still having trouble with connecting the green wire to the turn signal. I have the amber LED but the halo is only white color.
There were two wires to connect on the version I had. When I spliced the second one to the turn signal the halo turned amber and flashed. I didn't like it because there was a slight timing difference so I disconnected the wire. Thanks for watching!
thanks for the video. super helpful. I have a JL and I wonder if it will work the same way. i will try to connect it this weekend. thanks again for the video.
We didn't have the money or the camera gear to show these on the road until just this week. 4K GoPro and Cannon 5D Mark II just couldn't get the shot, we tried. We now have a 5D Mark IV, C100 and a couple of Reds that can do it, but we have other shows to get to so no promises on getting that done. That said, I like them both on and off road. We have three Jeeps on the Kühl Toys team, a Rubicon and two Sahara's. Everyone agrees these headlights are better in all conditions. We are hopeing another brand steps up and sends us thier lights to compare and then you'll get some night shots. #Delta #KCHilights you listening? Overall notes: LED lights are very different than halogen or HID. The light is much more even so when a car passes you, it might shadow your car giving you the impression their lights are brighter. When you turn off your lights even when shadowed by HID, reflectors over a mile a way go dark. Road signs, reflectors and animal eyes show up much farther away. I just took the Jeep to Lake Tahoe for some snow running and just like factory lights, these degraded as the dirt and snow built up. I would like glass lenses or a harder lens as these scratched and we has to polish them back out. The high beams at night on a dark road are good for almost two miles but because it is a very even spread. It doesn't "feel' as bright as my old Hella C-4 lights. I would prefer a more European light pattern with the flat top on the left and 45 degree rise on the right for road signs, but haven't seen any pure LED that do that yet. Delta appears to have a set that have an LED Halo and halogen bulb in this pattern. Thanks for watching the video, more Kühl Jeep stuff to come.
These were better than stock at night, but were a bit difficult to aim properly due to the tight fit. The new projectors are way brighter with a much more even light pattern.
Working on it, finally got the cameras that can show it. But we also have already replaced these with much brighter projector style. kuhltoys.com/halo-headlights-projector-style
Great video, I appreciate all the effort and production, but please put a little more effort in your audio, at times your audio dropped off so low I could not hear you
We just got our JL. It should work the same, but since ours came with factory LED and “Ring lights” we aren’t planning to upgrade the lights just yet. The factory LED are not as good as the second set of lights we put in. Projector style is what the second set was. The lights in this video failed and were about the same as the factory LED lights are now.
Look Out "Guys"... I just sold my 650i convertible "fancy Gurly car" and LOVING my Jeep Wrangler...and thanks to RUclips technology I'm "EMPOWERING" myself to work on fun projects like this one...Yup! I love my Broncos...CUBS...and now my JEEP
Er, we kinda like the 650i at KühlToys, but the Jeep is always a winner here. But it ain't a real Jeep until you pull tree parts out of the frame when doing an oil change.
what happens in the snow? regular lights are hot enough to melt snow and Ice, but LED's do not run hot, have run into this with LED lights on my jeep and they are useless in the snow
I ran as low as -20 in Truckee and they still worked fine in light snow. There was some build up though. JW Speaker makes a heated version. The new JLU has LED which are not heated from the factory. Same issue exactly.
One thing we got wrong, and have tested on another JK, if you connect the green wire to the turn signal the halo remains off while the signal is on. It does not "blink" as Scott said in the video. Oops.
Great vid I just installed the lights same way you did but the halos only stay on when the car is in park, when it's in drive they turn off, any suggestions? Thanks.
I see that a couple of people found that to be that the DRL were enabled in the software. Our DRL was apparently off. The lights have a small circuit inside of them so when the low beams come on, the halo turns off. The newer version should stay on kuhltoys.com/halo-headlights-projector-style
I wired the red to its own switch, did not connect the green to the turn signals just taped it up. When I turn the headlights on it cuts off the halo. Is there a way to keep the halo on when the headlights are on?? Keith
No, at least with this one, the control for that is inside the lights. The green turns off the halo when the signal is on. I left it disconnected as well. We have been sent two other brands to test and neither did anything better or different so we are hoping someone sends us a better one to test, #KChiltes and #JWSpeaker are you listening?
Funny, installed wrong they look like Christmas trees. Go video. Where can you purchase them for that price. my 10 Sahara Unlimited lights are hazing this is a good fix with better quality lights. Thanks
Mark Hoffman you can find the link to buy these on our KühlToys.com website below the video, but this model is sold out and one has already failed. We just received the "new and improved" projector halos which also come with a premade wiring harness similar to the one we had to make. We will be installing in the next week and posting a new video on Kühltoys.com soon!
New lights in, look great even though they look like a few other brands, great light output and pattern. Much happier at night with these, video in editing now.
As far as we know, they will fit any round headlight jeep. In the US , DRL are not activated on many models so we had to call and find a "safe" spot in the fuse box to hook up our DRL's.
I have these headlights, but they won't fit? Did you have any issues with them fitting into the hole properly? It seems like the small plastic pieces on each side of the larger plastic pieces (the ones the match the pattern of the stock lights) are too "thick" and push the headlight off so far that I am not able to screw in the chrome trim ring. Any suggestions?
Yes these headlights are just a bit larger. It is why I put them in upside down the first time and didn't catch it. After your post we pulled them back out and shaved off just a little bit of the alignment tabs so they fit better. The light itself is still a bit "thicker" in the ring section when you set is side by side with the factory cheapo plastic lights, so they stick out a little farther even after shaving the alignment tabs.
They were very tight, and these lights failed so we now have the newer better and brighter projector style lights on the JK in the video. Our other two JK's still have stock headlights, we are hoping someone submits another brand to go head to head at night on the rubicon trail...
Sadly, you pay even more... I paid $900 for the "ring led" on the new JLU, not happy, these are way cooler and brighter halo's. I don't know why Jeep did that.
@@Beachstreetnews We have it on good authority that Jeep couldn't use the rings as a DRL so they dimmed them due to a patent held by someone else. The Jeep factory LED halos are a waste of $. Get the non-led lights and upgrade yourself.
When you wired the DRLs to the "add-a-fuse" did you take both DRL wires from both headlights and crimp them together in the add a fuse or did you use two add a fuses, one for each light... or am I missing something? Thanks for the help
Yes both DRL are daisy chained off of one wire. LED's are very efficient and very low load so 1 amp for both was plenty. Check out the newer headlights at KuhlToys.com
Not quite sure what you are asking. The LED lights only use 3 amps, so we wanted to make sure that we didn't put too big of a fuse in case they failed, which they did. The new better version of these lights can be seen on the episode of Kühl Toys, at www.kuhltoys.com
Yes, the halo light draws very little power, and like I said, these lights already failed and a better version are out. The new version uses the same power and we didn't want to have a 10 amp fuse when a 3 amp is all that is required. Please check out the new lights at KuhlToys.com
Hey Guys, Can you answer Kayla Mathews' question regarding fitment as I am experiencing the same issue. When you fit the new lights and replaced the chrome ring, did it sit out by about 4mm from where the original was?
update, now that the lights have failed and been replaced, the newer projector style Halo's look a bit more typical but have great light output and they did fit better. Still very snug but they fit. Video coming soon to Kühl Toys.
Yes, they are standard C-7 lights and will fit any Jeep with round headlights. If you have a rectangle light Jeep, there are different models for that. I would say go with the newer projector style though. The PAW lights failed and the Projector Halo Lights are hands down a better, smoother light pattern and much brighter.

I am not sure what the M14 is, in the video we found an open fuse section on the US spec 2016 JK that is the same on the 2015 and 2017. That is all we have. There is another video on kuhltoys.com showing the installation of the newer version of these lights. The trick with the old version is the Halo must be on a circuit that is energized with the accessory circuit is on.
My low and high beam come on when the jeep is put in gear or anytime its out of park. Can't figure out why this is happening. Lights are plug and play. Any help would be appreciated.
Same lights? That sounds like you crossed the wires or have a bad adapter. There are three wires, one for the halo, one for low beams, one for high beams. You may also have a bad set of lights since there is an internal circuit that turns off the Halo's when the low or high beam come on. This is a voltmeter - testing problem.
Don't totally disagree, these failed, but at 3 times the price, we really didn't consider the JW Speaker a KuhlToy. When the first set failed, the manufacturer sent us a much better set, which are still under $140 for the pair. We still recommend the new version and they still are KuhlToys approved. kuhltoys.com/halo-headlights-projector-style
If you're on a tight budget I guess that makes sense (but why are you driving a $40k gas guzzler then), but the JW speaker in my opinion would be more than 3 times the quality and usable light output than these other headlights. Then again, I love having quality lights some people might not care as much. I respect everyone's opinion.
You say Tight Budget, We say smart spending. Send us a set of JW Speakers to test and I'll put them on another Jeep so we can see them side by side. We are always looking for new KühlToys. What are the fuses needed to get the daytime running lights connected?
Hi! Are you interested in testing new LED taillights for JK?
These lights look awesome but what brand are they? I'm looking for a pair and love the look of these, brand and model and where can I get them. Thanks

By any chance do you know what grill inserts these are?

Hi Scott. does your halo DRL work when you drive? My halo stop working when I change gear to D (drive) and it switching to low beam?
Yes, but I wired it to a specific fuse that was always on when ACC circuit was on per the Jeep engineering recommendation.
