First off the R7 is a great camera, I was deciding between that and the R50 as my 2nd cam. I ultimately went with the R50 only because I wanted to see what an entry level RF camera could do (I don't acknowledge the R100 as its literally an M50 with RF lenses) and already had an R5. The Sigma 18 - 35mm F/1.8 is a beast on these crop cameras (second hand you can get them from $350-$450). For someone just starting out the price of the R50 is in the right spot for what its capable of. I purchased the R50 when it came out to be a secondary camera to my R5.... I've recorded every one of my RUclips videos with the R50 since. While it does feel way more plasticky than my R5 I expected that at the price point. What I didn't expect was how damn good the 4k video would look once you dialed in the settings. I've said in my videos many times that the R50 is a great camera for starting out content creation with limited budget or as a 2nd cam for anyone already on the RF platform as you can share the lenses. The R50 body only an a RF 16mm 2.8 OR the Sigma 18 - 35mm F/1.8 if you can spend a little bit more is a decent starting out VLOG/RUclips setup .
I agree, I have actually considered repurchasing the r50 as a second body, howevery I shoot weddings now so I dont think that would be the best camera to go with as a second. Now im saving up for the r5 as the main and want the r7 as the second or if need be ill just get another r7
The conversation was very boring, so I didn’t watch the entire video. But I was wondering why nock down a camera because you didn’t like it? I know everyone calls this camera entry level, but as someone who likes to take photos of the family and the wonderful sites of our earth I find this camera very useful and fun to use it.😢😢😢
Should’ve watched the entire video cause I said multiple times this video was not to knock the r50 as it’s still a great camera. Just not for me. Sorry to bore you

Lol however I just received my R50 yesterday its my first real camera I'm hoping this will be the beginning of something new once I learn its features and settings. then maybe upgrade to a bigger and much better.
Aye im just telling yall what they told me at the tryout 😂 the R50 is a great camera to start with. I think you will enjoy it. When you do decide to upgrade Im sure there will be new cameras out by then with a bunch of new technology
R7 is a better camera for sure. Better value too. You get more camera for the money. I’m more of a Sony guy. And would rather go with a used a7riii or a6700. But. That’s just because I really like the lens variety Sony has.
Sony surely has great products too. But the r7 definitely caught my eye more than anything

Canon Crop is 1.6. Nice video, thinking of getting the R7 since Sigma just announced new lenses for the RF system.
Yeah my mistake I realized that after the video. Im loving the R7, I think you will be thoroughly pleased. Im excited about sigma and Tamron joining the RF systems, I want to get me a lens from them if it makes sense
Ohh dam I just got my first mirrorless camera got the R50 was looking at the R7, but this little R50 is a mean little take along camera, u should keep it for a light weight travel camera big dawg. But good video.
I was genuinely thinking about that. Have my r7 for the more serious occasions and the r50 for just walk around town or whatever. But I’m cheap so wanted to only keep 1 cause of price lol. I appreciate the comment 🙌🏽

Did you have the budget to buy the R7 anyway? People who use the R50 usually do so for budgetary reasons or they’re absolute beginners. The compromises between the R50 VS literally any camera above it are well known. I own the R50. If I had the budget at the time to get the R 7 I’d have just gotten the R7.
Im just cheap so I always like to do things on a budget. With turning photography now into a business I wanted to invest in something better for what I was doing. I initially bought the R50 just for fun. Now the R7 is my serious camera
I think you made a perfect choice. I still love my little r50. I hate the 16mm 2.8 though (love/hate)
I returned the 16mm 2.8 for the 28mm 2.8. I hated the 16mm also. But think I’m gonna get the 16 back cause I just got asked to do some real estate photography
@@Theelockerroom i only like the 16mm on my full frame cameras, on the cropped body’s it’s just.. uninspiring . But the 24mm 1.8 *chefs kiss*

Why not a R8 ? Canon makes great cameras so the R8 R7 R6ii R50 are all great. I just bought the R50 but I have 3 full frame cameras already. I bought it for family photography when me and my family are at the bar or in the backyard. And being a person of color I wanted a built in flash
Great question. R8 does not have IBIS. R7 does. Get more mp out of the R7. 32 vs 24. R7 has 10 bit video I believe the R8 does not. Even though R7 is crop and R8 is full frame there is, in my opinion, still some benefits that the R7 has that the R8 does not
@topofthemorningpodcast_ does the R7 have 4k 60 and I am pretty sure the R8 has 10 bit.

The Canon APS-C crop is 1.6 not 1.5.

also the r50 sensor looked a lot better than the r7, did you shoot the r7 in 4k?
I noticed that too. The r7 was 4k yeah but I’m thinking there may have been a color setting I didn’t match to the r50? Not entirely sure have to check out my settings
@@Theelockerroom you probably didn’t put it into 4k Fine mode. Which is the downscaled 7k. The R50 automatically puts you in a downscaled 6k to 4k.. also idk if you knew this but the R50 plugs into your computer as a webcam with just usb . A feature Only the R8 and R6ii can do as well lol
@@WasionKey ah that could be it. Yeah I knew that about the R50. I thought the R7 could do that as well. It has the option in the settings tab for it. Haven’t tried it however on the R7 yet

Yeah debatable. Cause it’s only $100 more. Guess I was already used to a ASP-C so I stayed with one. My goal camera is definitely the R5

It still was for the time I had it. It’s still a great camera. Just as I got more familiar with photography and cameras it was then I realized I wanted something more

I got the R8 since I was stealing my mother’s R6MII and they’re the same sensor and processor. I’ve absolutely adored the R8 with only a few minor complaints (primarily lack of IBIS but I deal) I have really small hands and find the R8 pretty comfortable (especially with a cage) it’s also really small and light so I tend to take it out alot! I solved the battery issue by getting a Vmount when I know I’ll have long shoots which also balances out a bigger lens pretty well. I’m currently in the middle of rigging it out as a mini cinema rig and it’s coming out pretty well.
I don’t regret my choice even tho I was going back and forth between a few cameras in this price range (I also steal my mothers R6mii as a B cam sometimes so them being basically the same base camera really helps)
Same here, returning mine tomorrow, the 60 min video limit sucks, I have huge hands and the R50 wasn't it. I'm going to Sony for my video zv-e10, good video
ZV-E10 was a camera I looked at initially as well. Definitely great video. You’ll be happy with that one. Sad you’re leaving canon tho lol

I got the R50 for 2 reasons. An inexpensive way to learn about mirrorless and 2, a small light weight camera to have with me in the car. Coming from a 1DMark ll brick the R50 is light as a feather, I did get a Neewer Metal frame to give me better grip. If I decide to stay with mirrorless I will get an R7 and an R6, but it I decide to stay with DSLR I will get a 90D and a 5D Mk iv.
Yup. Sounds about right. I will say I love the R7. I shot my first event last night indoors and it did wonders for me. R6 is great too. Seems as tho either way you go you’ll be happy
