    Drywall finisher here. You should still sand in between coats to flatten lift offs. The mud will shrink considerably especially when pulling it tight and you’ll end up needing more coats to make it flat.

      You don’t necessary have to sand between each coat. But it’s a very good idea before the final skim.

    That was just a trowel mark. Typical in butt joints. It was definitely ready to be sanded. It was not horrible

      @@amilli092 yeah I’ve only seen it when it’s mostly done and they’re shining light sideways to find the small stuff. Idk if it’s to prevent over sanding or just to save time since you don’t have to go back and sand everything, just the colored areas.

    I use a flashlight layed horizontally on the wall as i sand. You see every high spot. Walls will look perfect

    Ya can still see the shadow from the butt joint. Impossible to get rid of unless you coat the entire board, think about it.

    Late to this party but your mud work should be flatter than this and you should lightly sand before your final skim coat.

    Shine the light across any wall, and it's gonna look like s#!%. PERIOD! on a level 4 finish, the light has to be 6' from the wall shining directly at the wall.

      Plaster guys can’t compete with finishers . Union worker here . We literally tape high rises a floor a week . With sometimes as little as 5 tapers . We’re killers . Plaster dudes be lucky to to one apartment a day with 5 guys

      @@williamrowe3190 you’re right I’ve been plastering since the 70s he’s skimming a wall he doesn’t need a hump trowel so therefore a concrete trowel is the same. all my Marshalltown trowels all say for plaster drywall or concrete.

    Another drywaller here. Shine the light down and you will see how terrible of a finisher you really are. I point up after the finishers and some really need to stop doing it. Especially with the power sander.

    Why don't you really shine the light parallel ? Bring the light closer so we can actually see the REAL imperfections. I know why ... all these half tips on the internet are funny sorry my man been watching you for years and every other drywall "pro" The un educated don't know any better people have very good fronting skills let's see some primed projects under L.E.D I respect it but never should you have lines like that on a skim coat "ready to be sanded " skim coat always supposed to be glass 👌
