  • Sky News host Rita Panahi says Australia has got “too many kids at universities” doing “junk degrees”.
Ms Panahi says they are being sold “false hope”.
“They’re leaving university with a big debt,” she said.
“It doesn’t actually help them achieve anything in terms of meaningful employment.
“Their job they end up doing bares no relation to the degree.”

Training and assessment was all that was necessary as well as the skills and knowledge behind what I was teaching.
I believe that politics is waste of time and career politicians has contributed to the date of politics today. People need life experience and work experience to run the country.
Nursing needs to come out of uni as it’s not producing the calibre we need . Nursing is all about competence, skills and knowledge that are best obtained by a better combination of college and on the job training. 1) a law degree, or
      2) a law degree and an arts degree (a combined degree of a *full law degree* supplemented by a major in arts subjects) or
      3) two consecutive degrees, completing an arts degree first and then completing a law degree.
No one gets to be a lawyer on just an arts degree.

I will give my point of view I worked in the underground mining industry for over 40 years.
In that time I seen all sorts of people employed from people fleeing communist europe to training programmes for indigenous people and a lot of ex military.
Often we would get people from tertiary background that had compleyed degrees but where not interested particullarly in their field so came into mining for something different.
These people ehere disciplined motivated learned quickly and mosyly reliable they where aware of economics and general whrre easy to supervise.
In my experience from working with these people and other people like engineers geologists geotechs etc. Its not the degree thats important its the discipline and proffessionalism that these people learn that we need to encourage for all our citizens.
