His best games have been against very weak defenses. I heard someone refer to an interview they had with Kliff Kingsbury though & even before week 3 it seems he had a realization & it is indeed his new play-calling style that we're seeing.
I honestly thought we were gonna have another Shane Waldron/Dave Canales scenario & were gonna find out the great plays were actually being called by an assistant because we weren't seeing anything new or spectacular the 1st two weeks. This is a guy who was famous in college & in the NFL for not understanding basic stuff like what motion does or even lining up your receivers in different places to get better match-ups.
An aside: they just started talking about the Cardinals & Kyler. Outside of week 2 the first drive this week was the only time he hasn't appeared sub-standard. I've seen this guy play his heart out scrambling around to get a 2-point conversion. Now he looks bored.
      Had you noticed this?

The Bills were very much over-rated. Their defense could not stop the run. And their run offense was seriously blunted.
The Chiefs kept Henry under 3.5 yards per carry in week 1.

@@MrDavidknigge I'd argue that the Ravens kept *themselves* under 3.5 yards per carry. Even this week, after some originality with blocking schemes they settled into more regular rushes as if saying "we're tired of being inventive now."
Multiple times I've noticed Monken just Calls Plays like "now run. Now pass." The times he does this seem consistent: week 1 was textbook.
The 1st drive was so predictable it seemed telegraphed, then slowly he gets creative. Then he sticks to clusters of plays calling them repeatedly throughout the 2nd & 3rd quarter. (Remember how he stopped _using_ Henry in favor of designed QB rushes for a huge chunk of the game? It's like he becomes fixated on a few plays for long periods).
He gets creative at the start of the 4th as if it's urgent, then he goes back to calling a few plays over & over at the ends of games, like having Justice Hill block Chris Jones 3 times on passing plays. He calls plays like he forgot 90% of them multiple times a game.
