Dress for your energy level not your age! Right on the money Nada. Love these new style rules, although despite being 5'1" I won't be revealing my knees in public again. At 73 gravity seems to have taken over in that department. 😮 Otherwise dressing for the active lifestyle I lead.
One "rule" I break is matching the color of polish on my hands and feet. I have small hands and wear bright colors on my fingernails. I don't like my feet, but living in Florida, my toes are usually exposed in sandals, so I wear very subtle color on my toe nails.
Me too, I want to get dressed every day from now on, just like my grandparents used to do, there was no leisure clothing then or elasticated waistbands, which btw can also encourage us to put on weight if we're not careful x
"Black [or insert any color/trend/wardrobe-item here] works for people who look good in black." This is why you're so great at what you do, Nada. Thank you for this! ❤
This was a game changer for me when I had my colours done. I’m a light spring and only have two pairs of black pants left - no black tops. I never wear black anymore and don’t miss it at all. 🎉🎉🎉
This was one of my favourites of yours! Not matching leathers helps me to break away from my fairly strict classical style. I too like to dress up at the office and I think others have levelled up because of it 😂🎉 - thank yo so much for the tip I will NOT be buying any more lounge wear. I have some items from Lululemon - I like to dress in monochromatic lounge wear it feels more elevated and I throw on some oversized cashmere cardigans from Aritzia in my color palette that match my leggings or adidas trainers. Or ballet flats and add Jewelry if I want to level up my leggings!🎉 wearing cashmere at home in short or long sleeved feels so luxurious. In the Bay Area I wear cashmere almost every day and I’m glad I don’t save it for special occasions 😊
@@Mimi-ni3il thank you so much! I love that you are making Kashmir a part of your everyday wardrobe. And your lounge outfits sound luxurious and chic. It can be hard to get away from some of the rules that we grew up with, but I think updating our perspective from time to time is so important so that we don’t get stuck. I so appreciate the comment!
Hi Nada, great video again - of course! Just over a year ago I decided to stop dying my hair and I love it! The transition was pretty easy, as I had short hair, so just went to a slighter shorter pixie cut, and I have never looked back! If you feel like the time is right for you, it probably is. Also, wear your good clothes! Great advice. Life is short, wear the good clothes and enjoy them! All great tips.
One of your best videos…loved it! Will need to watch again, I think. I’ve been telling friends a lot lately, to stop saving your nicer clothes for “someday.” Wear them at home. (Sometimes…while they still fit…haha)
I am 70 and love my legs - especiallywhen tanned in summer. Keep them toned with yoga, cycling and swimming. Shave and scrub them even in winter. No skirts on a bike, but (A line) shorts most of the year
The outfit of the day is beyond anything I could have dreamed up, but you wear it well! I am short, but I have football player legs, so I won’t be wearing anything too short. Your mom and dad are darling! My favorite rule is when you say sensible is aging. I come from sensible people, and I just find it shocking that sensible is not always the way to go!
as always Nada, I got a lot out of this video. The idea of wearing our 'nice' clohes more often sounds good...but a bit scary. See you in a few hours to start our Closet Confidence Series!! 🦩🦩🦩
Same! I'm 5'2" 115 lbs and since I hit mid forties will not do shorts or shorter length skirts. My knees decided to do a cool saggy baggy truck on me for some reason. My legs are hideous and I am on my feet for my job and have horses and other animals at home ....always working so you'd think my legs would be amazing but well....😂
Great video. I am 5ft 2in and I love to wear short skirts because I have great legs and like to show them off. I get a lot of compliments on my legs, no midi/maxi skirts/dresses for me. Not my style anyway. Also, I have toned arms and feel comfortable showing off my arms with either sleeveless or cap sleeve. In general, my clothing style tends to be "fitted" (not tight) rather than baggy. You are right about showing some skin as being elongating such as V neck sweaters/tops.
Nada, check out a program called Dressing Your Truth. She shows you how to dress according to your energy type. I don’t follow her 100% (obviously I’m watching you too!) but the whole system makes a lot of sense and knowing your energy type is huge. I can’t wear animal prints that you rock - you’ll see when you do the self-test that you are a type 3 (fire, animal prints) and I’m a type 1 (air, no animal prints, no black). I think you’ll like it.
I’m 5’3”, I love short skirts, skorts, shorts, and mini dresses even at 65. I’m dreading the Bermudan short and tight fitting booty shorts that are trending this year. I like a 3-4” inseam on shorts. These are all great anti-aging tips! Thanks Nada
Oh goodness never wear Bermuda shorts! Awful on us petite girls. 55 and 5’2” and love my legs. I always wear 3 inch shorts. I look terrible in longer ones.
I shop with my friends and they buy beautiful clothes but they refuse to wear them at home. We’re all retired so that means their “good” clothes sit and wait. I’m working on them! One of them lost over a hundred pounds and her new body deserves to look cute every day!
I heard someone say that there's not enough time to wear out the clothes they have and love, because they kept leaving them for a special day. At 58, that could be me. I must get into the habit of getting dressed every day, for myself (and the Amazon guy lol). Also, people respect you more when you look put together and smart.
Some advice what I remember: Sporty shoes don’t go with summer dresses; You are short, you need to wear heels, you need a belt etc. I am 5.2, 128 lb, 59 years, love dresses, blazers and hats. A few years ago I got rid of all my skirts, jeans, belts and button down shirts. I know what I like and what makes me feel good! Enjoyed your video Nada!
matching handbags, shoes, belts, etc. I still match but in a less obvious/I-have-a-set way, e.g. slightly differently tones. Also, I usually don't wear a bra if I can get away with it, I don't care if my small boobs are a bit floppy, I only wear a bra with t-shirt or very elegant clothes, tight tops, etc.
YES! I always regret it when I don't do a last check before leaving the house and then catch myself in a store mirror and think I don't look as great as I thought, great tip, thank you x
My grandmother had no just hang around the house clothes that I ever saw. I do not know if she ever wore what used to be called a housedress. My aunt liked to wear those for housework and change to go out. Never liked the advice about cutting hair and wearing more subtle makeup with age.
My grandparents and aunt were the same, I grew up in Italy in the 70s, there was no leisure clothing then and they always looked smart but yes, I remember those smock shirt dresses/overall they wore when cooking, etc. over their tailored clothes

I am so guilty of saving my “good” clothes. This will be hard to overcome!😊 Thanks for making it okay!

really good video - I look forward to more advice for those of us that now have sliver/white hair!

Too funny….say to the Amazon guy, “Look at me I’m so cute.” 😂😂😂
Loved the entire video! I'll try to wear my "nice clothes" more often!

@@leghornlifeyes, I have lots of critters too and always moving. All I did is mess up my left knee from dragging myself up onto horses.
Wear a dress or skirt!

No stripes going around, no belts, no black with brown 😂
Those are definitely some rules we have heard along the way! Esp stripes and black with brown. I hear those all the time!
