I have to say - I’m pretty happy with my own clothes and style, but I so enjoy watching you and hearing your enthusiasm! I love when you say “perfection!” It makes me so hopeful about being out there in the world!
Great video! Just found your channel. My husband and I are morning our French departure and return to the US this past Saturday. I had to avoid my local Publix (in FL too) for a few days because I couldn't bear to see someone shuffling around in pajama bottoms and slippers. French fashion for me is always a confidence booster. It's great to see someone in their '60s '70s and even '80s rocking lace dresses , classic denim jeans, and gorgeous lip shades.
I felt the same way lol! I wanted to avoid the deflated feeling I had when I saw people wearing bikinis and flip flops into grocery stores. So glad you enjoyed this video and thanks so much for the comment!
10:30 that backpack is her daughter’s school bag. In French we call it “cartable”: it’s very recognizable for its rectangular, horizontal shape; its big cover flap with a buckle fastening and hand strap; and accordion-like compartments. The mother’s own bag is likely the pink tote bag that pokes out on her left. No grown woman wears a “cartable” as a backpack, especially not with graphics, lol! The only adults I’ve seen use it were some of our school teachers, who would either carry it by the hand strap, or slung up on their shoulder with a proper cross-body strap. And it’s always either black or dark brown, never even a brighter blue or red. It’s just NOT a fashion accessory in France-at least until now. It’s too professional/stiff-looking if worn the adult way. It’s heavily coded as childish if worn as a backpack, too. And it’s simply not flattering: adults will pick vertical-shaped backpacks any day. In fact, many teachers who were not into this old-school professional aesthetic wore regular/sportsy backpacks to carry their documents in. Btw, lots of women in Paris do wear leggings in the daytime, but maybe it’s a different socioeconomic category of people whom you [don’t] see much in those nice neighborhoods ;)
I like your content. Question: why don’t you make the video of “you” smaller and the photo of “what you are talking about” (your subject) bigger so we can actually see what you are seeing? Would be very helpful. Thanks.
As an expat living in Norway I can confirm the general impression that you won't see lounge-wear in public. My friends and husband are totally against this in general and insist on changing clothes if you leave the house. I cannot even stop at a cafe for coffee after a walk if I am in training clothes. It took a long time to be used to it but now I am on board and follow the rules and always am thankful that I don't feel underdressed and well 'sloppy' when out in public. Although I always forget the makeup and can regret not putting on mascara ! Although in general the makeup is the opposite of the states, like low key and natural and hardly ever do you see foundation in use - unless you are under 18 and obsessed with trying to be influencer )
I love, love, love this video! Can't wait for part 2. I love European style and these will be so easy and fun to create from my own closet. Think you Nada to doing this video.
The timing of this video cannot have come at a better time. Family day out next week, in Birmingham, England's second city. Was thinking earlier, navy linen knee length dress, white trainers, cross body bag and tote for any shopping. 😂
I have just have had your channel recommended to me, as a British European i find your observations very interesting. I had a weeks holiday in the eastern Algarve at the end of June. There were a lot of flipflops being worn, over sized tee-shirts/beach cover-ups. So i guess it depends on the region you are in. Certainly when I have been to Spain and been into the cities in the daytime the type of clothing is very different to the beach resorts.
Glad you found my channel! Yes I do think resort towns are going to have a very different dress code. I live in a beach town in the U.S. and we dress very differently than the cities. Thanks for the comment!
Thank you for confirming that European women dress in an elevated way. We here in the USA do not have to look sloppy, or half naked with some of the leggings.
I would be curious to know what differences you noticed between how people dressed in France, Germany, & Switzerland (you showed a lot of shorts but for some reason I thought that women in Paris don’t wear shorts?). Also, were you easily able to identify who was a tourist (American or otherwise) by their style?
I'm so excited to see this, I am going to Italy in September for the 1st time, and these tips will help me put together an appropriate travel capsule so my clothes are not screaming "Tourist here!" Thanks!
As my style is classic and tailored I am constantly looking for ways to pull off a more casual look. So this was very helpful and practical. I have just bought a pair of red pants so that will definitely be one of my looks when I travel. I am also pleased that crossover bags are in as I have sloping shoulders and so any other kind of bag keeps sliding off my shoulder. Cobblestones are difficult to walk on I found. They sound romantic but can be dangerous and more so if it is raining. Can’t wait for part 2.
Great video with real life examples of cute fashion on a variety of ladies. I don’t understand why you don’t have more followers! I live in Orange County in Southern California. While I certainly see ladies dressed in a frumpy/ unflattering/ unfashionable way, there are many women I see here that are as well or better dressed than those you showed.
Yes, you really feature the style we have in Germany. But I didn’t know that it is seen as stylish or even elegant. I thought that we don’t really pay attention to what we wear. But I do like the idea.
I am portuguese, and it's true, I don't use leggings out of gym. I just use sweaters when I'm on a pic-nic or in the beach whith cold. I love to use cross body bags ou backpacks to have my hands to other things. I use confortable shoes, any shoes have to be confortable, or sporty shoes, whith any outfit. Next time in Europe, come to Portugal. 😉🇵🇹
I also noticed that most of the women and men shown in the photos are of a healthy weight to fit their body types and frames. This also helps clothing styles look nice. When it fits well. 😊
great video.. thanks for sharing. Other cultures are always interesting to learn about. At time stamp 13.08 (the tourist in black) there is a lady wearing black leggings and a denim shirt waling in the opposite direction. 🌻💞🇦🇺
I am Italian and guess what Italy is known to be one of the largest tattoo loving nations there is. Italians love tattoos more than the USA.🧑🦳 I know I live in Italy...
Going to Europe in two weeks. Struggling to get my outfits together. I think you’ve convinced me to bring the white sneakers. I was just going to bring a beige pair of Rothy’s. We are going to England, Scotland, and Ireland. The temperatures are cool. (I’m from Florida too) What do you think about bringing Linen dresses?
Hi Marina! I was in Scotland and Ireland last summer too! It was definitely cooler. I think you could bring them if you also brought a little jacket or cardigan to wear over them. I did a video on my Scotland wardrobe! You can find it here. ruclips.net/video/CW-7hF3-EV4/видео.html
It's rained almost every day in central Scotland since June, so I would suggest a rainproof jacket or a trench and a Vitamin D supplement. :) On the plus side, you're in no danger of encountering forest fires ;)
I REALLY didn't want to wear any shoes that tie to my uncoming (next week) trip to Paris and Normandy. Like you, Marina, I may now be convinced I should take my white sneakers. 😕
Great video, Nada! How do the styles differ between where you went this summer and in your Scotland trip last year? I'm heading to the UK next month and would be interested to know! Thank you!!
I would say that the British women seemed to be wearing more layers and the styles looked less summery where we were because it was cooler, but the overall aesthetic is different except among the very young. Teens and women in their early 20s have a totally different style, but everywhere we went I saw chic outfits similar to these, but with sleeves. :)
One thing I noticed is we didn't appear to see anyone wearing self tanning. Also, women don't seem to be sensitive about their arms. Very interesting. Many thanks.
Also (except in the UK where there is a lot of cheap, poor quality clothing worn), The clothes people wear in Europe are made of good quality materials. It lasts longer and does not lose its shape.
One of the photos looks like she had a fanny pack slung over her shoulder, as if it was a crossbody purse. I think it's fine to do this because these people are out and about. None of these women are dressed that differently. You're right, no leggings and no PJ looking clothes like some Americans do here. I didn't see tattoos, baggy shirts, or USA wear (thank god) when I was in Europe. You're right, most people who you see in Europe, out and about, don't look like Americans do when they are out. When I was in France, I noticed many, many people are out walking, so there are not many obese people. If you did see obese people, there were usually Americans. However, many people smoke in France, which was surprising to me. It's always good to visit other countries to see how people are, other than here. So many people don't realize how wonderful that is.
I live in N. California and am retired. The fashions you showed were much more casual than what I wear for the most part. I noticed that for the most part, these European women would blend in here in my part of the world except for the fact that many Americans go for a more tattooed look, which looks low class when over done as a good look doesn’t get better when there is too much of it. Also, European women seem to have the same problem as American women in matching up their bras with their tops so their bras don’t show, which is tacky. It seems to me after watching videos like this over the years, the difference between European attire and and American attire has decreased given the exposure of the women in each country to what women in other countries are wearing. For example, I remember seeing a video about 10 years ago on what not to wear while visiting Paris and it said “Don’t wear sneakers as they’re not worn in Paris.” Now everyone seems to wear them. I think people in your position as a fashion advisor, who are watched globally, have decreased the differences in fashion worn by women from different countries. Do you agree?
My daughter in law is Parisien and wears sneakers as well as flat sandles, but Milan where I am from is the home of sneakers. reebok used to be the style EVERY woman would wear in the 80's through to the noughties I even have a pair by Sergio Rossi :) I personally live in my Reebok I took them to my recent return back to Milan and France in June and they fitted in perfectly. I live in San Diego. Hope this helps and good luck Xxx
French person here: leggings in the summer, when you are not working out? Not convenient. Also, it was very hot in 2023, you should come back in the fall or spring, maybe it would look different?
These fashion ideas are great, thanks! But the concept of Europeans dressing so much better than in folks from some other countries (particularly US citizens abroad) is kind of a trigger for me. I have lived and traveled a lot for over 30 years in areas of Southeast Asia, Mexico, and Central and South America. The way visiting tourist Europeans dress in some so-called "less developed" countries is just jaw-droppingly bad. And not just in beach towns. I'm not talking about less than stylish sneakers or sports caps. I'm referring to almost complete nudity, everywhere, transparent dresses with no under garments, thongs on city streets, even complete lack of hygiene. European subtle or expressive style doesn't always make it out of Europe. It gets left at home, sadly sometimes along with general respect for the local culture.
Thanks for showing good dressed Germans. I am so sick and tired of the "Germans have no style"- narrative. Yes, we are very outdoorsy people and will always choose functionality over fashion, and there are some "style deserts", but on general people express themselves with fashion too. And there are big differences between regions. Berlin stands for super edgy/dark looks, Hamburg is very preppy and a bit quiet luxury, Munich is more colourful rich, Stuttgart would be more minimalist "no nonsense"....
I feel the same way about the way Americans are represented. We are also more casual and practical but depending on where you go, you will see very stylish people with very different looks. I thought the women in Germany dressed beautifully. It was fun to see the differences across areas.
Nada I enjoyed your video but what I noticed is that the way they're dressed is how people in America dressed in the 50s, not that I was doing it because I was a toddler. BUT I remember pictures I saw of how my mother dressed. whyat I think has changed in America is that people are overweight and obese and so they have no choice but to wear oversized t-shirts and baggy type trousers of some sort or sweats or leggings which I always thought she'd only be won by a trim person but actually have noticed extremely overweight women also wear leggings and let everything hang out. So I actually think it's more a factor of Americans not being in shape and actually I don't blame Americans because our food is inferior to European food and I could give you many details but this is not a health channel so I won't bore you with that. I myself like the 50s hourglass styles and so I tend to like everything that you've shown although I would never call it elegant; I would call it practical and tailored and it could go anywhere. I actually have many many outfits that I think r much more elegant than what I've seen here but where I live no one dresses that way and so I dress down in order not to stand out in this teeny town. I also noticed you mention you're from Florida and I used to live in Florida. I now live the central part of America andmore recentlyI have collected a lot of leggings that I adore because they're in impressionistic colors and prints and I wear them with tunics that give me a shape. THEY are NOT just square but they do cover almost completely the buttocks and my hips which is nice because I do have small love handles due to age. I dress with tunics matching in some way, shape or form the colors of the kegging and the impressionistic abstract look as well. I feel like it's a work of art😊 I could only show you what I mean. I can't really describe it better than that but I do realize that everyone who presents podcasts for us about fashion hate leggings but if they only saw my leggings and my tunic tops that I coordinate, they would see how cute they can be especially on certain body types. I have small legs and small hips and a very full bust and I'm over 50 so my hourglass shape has changed a lot but with that tunic, I emphasize my small and hips and legs and the tummy and love handles are pretty much NOT disclosed at all ☺️ so I love it. I can see you are a very classy lady and my guess is you do dress elegantly. I would though if I were you create little wispy bangs because I think that would better show off the pretty shape of your face and contrast with your long curly hair. Just a thought.😉
Yes and yes! I'll do a short video on this! I was VERY comfortable and felt like a local. People actually attempted to ask for directions a couple of times and spoke to me in French (in France) so that's always a good time. 100% felt like a local in my wardrobe and it was also super practical.
I really like the way they wore color, but toned it down with neutral everything else. Your pointing it out made me realize that I can wear color and still be true to myself.
Like video but I like leggings wear them winter and always cover my bits with shirt longer top I'm 62 nothing wrong with them worn correctly but must say you can't dress up when climbing castles etc you need trainers sneakers all depends what your doing and in 90degrees heat loose clothes it all depends on climate
Your face is big in the screen. It would be nice to have moments of just the clothes. It feels tiring to have the face talking as the largest thing in the frame.
Again the women look slim talk sneakers great when it all fits right not long dress size 16upwards great big lumps on the ends of feet make women look huge
I am more conservative, I don't find anything elegant , when woman in mature age wears wide patern knee-long skirt or dress with sneakers. It looks bulky and commonly
They don't look very euro wearing tennis shoes. I have always heard how put together euro women are. I know it's summer and it people will wear less in the warm weather but I wasn't wowed by what I saw. You call it classic but I have another word for it...bland. I see the pickpocketing was a major issue, every euro woman had the purses hanging in front their body or holding onto from the side, what a fun way to live.
I have to say - I’m pretty happy with my own clothes and style, but I so enjoy watching you and hearing your enthusiasm! I love when you say “perfection!” It makes me so hopeful about being out there in the world!
Yes, Europe has changing rooms in exercise facilities and also showers. That is where we change our clothes :)

Great narration with photos! love my espadrilles, BUT I twisted my foot in them on uneven ground outside my house=two weeks on crutches.
Ugh!! I’m so sorry! I almost did the same on this trip! Wedges and uneven ground are very tricky combination. Hope your foot is better!
Another thing I don't see: tats!
So you are saying that women can be fun and live without tats? Is that even possible?
Tattoos are gross. I'm sorry....they are. Nobody with class has them. You don't put bumper stickers on a Ferrari.
You would be surprised how many people have tats and they just can't be seen with clothes on. Not everyone advertises them.
@@TheKmonta I have to agree in part with you. IMO…a tattoo really brings down a look on a woman. It takes away from the elegance of an outfit.

I feel like it's a work of art😊
I could only show you what I mean.
Sorry, oops! . Lots of typos.
Also young people nail it
Must say much better with trousers
Nada, I saw only 2 women wearing hats in all these pics. Do you think only Americans wore them? Great video, BTW!
No you will see many more in Friday’s video. A lot of Asian and European women wore them. Thanks for the comment! Glad you liked it!
Hats yes, baseball hats no
Please let us know how the outfits you packed worked out, were you comfortable and did you feel that your style fit in with the locals?
Yes and yes! I'll do a short video on this! I was VERY comfortable and felt like a local. People actually attempted to ask for directions a couple of times and spoke to me in French (in France) so that's always a good time. 100% felt like a local in my wardrobe and it was also super practical.
How many of the people you saw styled were American tourists? ☺
I’m sure a couple slipped in there but it was pretty easy to spot the Americans for the most part.
I thought most of of the ppl in the video looked like tourists too.
Which of these style secrets is the most helpful to you? Let's discuss in the comments!
I really like the way they wore color, but toned it down with neutral everything else. Your pointing it out made me realize that I can wear color and still be true to myself.
I like the ageless clothes.
Flat shoe options
Intentional accessories
Linen
Lack of logo
Lack of sportswear
Better fabric
Better fit
I think I need to be careful not to overdress on my trip to Paris.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Trainers fine for heavy walking gyms etc don't look nice on older women that are a bit heavier unflattering
You need to look at the Italian woman.
They have amazing style!
I would’ve been in heaven, not seeing any leggings😂😂😂😂
Europeans do not, ever, wear athleisure wear as clothing
I agree. I saw none of it
Your face is big in the screen. It would be nice to have moments of just the clothes. It feels tiring to have the face talking as the largest thing in the frame.
The american leggings trend is so gross and im over it
The tourists really stick out and look tacky backpack, tight acid wash jeans print baggy shirt and cowboy boots...HOT MESS
Dainty flats better with dresses sneakers only look good on talker size ten or 12 women slim otherwise makes you look chunky sorry to say
You can tweak these outfits to make them suit your style. :)
As a passport agent, I'm curious why you waited so late to get your passport? Its all over the news it takes 2-4 months depending. Have safe travels
We didn’t wait. The agency that we used made a mistake which caused a delay. :(
@NadaManley sorry to hear that...most of the time I see it's the Dept. of State🙄
@@christinekellyrose9435 it’s super stressful! They have such a backlog. I plan to do it a year in advance next time lol. 🤣
They all look like tourists.
Some of them were but they were European tourists. I spoke to many of them:)
