      It's a pity she didn't break the world record. Then you could say that the world record holder is not only the fastest, but also the best. The same cannot be said for Kendra Harrison.

    pearson is smooth over the hurdle that's her advantage. She's from another planet.

      I grew up doing athletics with her she is a freak, however a chick I knew was faster then her in under 15’s little athletics then by the end of the year at schools state and nationals sally went quicker. Jarrah never ran after that.

    Sally Pearson seems confident and obviously 'backs herself' to win. I would not call that cocky tho. Love the comment 'stuff the bloody curse'. I think she sets a good example of positive self belief. The swimming equivalent is James Magnussen. Both seem to deliver the result in tandem with their belief - a good combination it seems.

    Did anyone else notice that Tiffany Porter seems to finish in the wrong lane. If you look at 3.47 you can see her first step in the lane beside her finishing in Lane 4 after starting in lane 5. Would that usually mean disqualification?

  • @nickandadam

    well comsidering i have run against her in her home town in aus. i can assure you she isnt cocky. if you want to see cocky, have a look at bolt or any of the other top mens sprinters...

    hmm! can't say I've seen that in her yet. Falling in the last grand prix race should keep her realistic.
    Granted she knows if she gets it right she'll win, but is this a bad thing?

  • @CHEETAH69

    I guessing you've probably run against her when she was a bit younger. things have changed a bit then. she seemed cocky in her interview. but I can allow that I interpreted her words incorrectly

  • @nickandadam
    @nickandadam 12 лет назад

    normally yes but because she wasnt impeding on anyones running. she was let go. if you look commonwealth games in the mens 100 with asafa powell. he finishes in someone elses lane but he was that far in front it didnt matter. if it was a race with a bend in it like a 2 or 4 or 4h it would be a different outcome.

  • @euge999

    My point exactly. I would have posted the same comment (swapping "black" with "white") in a NBA game video where a white man stood out.
    I don't know about you, but i´ve heard people say that black people are better at sports. Well, this video proves them wrong. Colour has nothing to do with it

    she's isn't that fast at just running, she's able to go over the hurdle so quickly, that's her advantage.

  • @DortmunderTdmt

    it seems sally won't be close to her '11 shape this year in moscow

  • @zzzthaoster
    @zzzthaoster 12 лет назад

    she would have lost in the olympics, if the distance between the last hurdle and the finish line was a bit further. A couple of the girls she beat is much faster at running than she is, but she's much quicker going over the hurdles that's why she won.

  • @MsBlackgemini

    if danielle carruthers and dawn harper had the same time, why did one get silver and the other get bronze. i thought that if 2 athletes came joint second, they both get silver and the bronze is not awarded

    • @VeridicusMaximus
      @VeridicusMaximus 3 года назад +2

      They got the same time for the hundredth of a second but in deciding the medals they look at thousandths. Both had 12.46x which is then rounded up to 12.47. The x in the thousandth place was lower for the silver medalists. But the official times are only recorded at the hundredth place.

  • @zzzthaoster
    @zzzthaoster 12 лет назад

    you have a problem I don't, Im simply saying she's really quick over the hurdle, that's her advantage over other runners. That is a fact, why are you so upset over it.
    I know it's 100 meter hurdle, and that's all that matters but im just also saying it's her quickness and not so much her running that is the main factor for her. Now eat the truth and shut up!

  • @BitterestJet3
    @BitterestJet3 12 лет назад

    Sally was running 11.9 when she was 14 and 11.4ish when she was 16 i think, so my question is, is she just a freak and would have been winning medals being coached by any old Jo Blow.
    How many other high profile athletes has her coach coached? Look at Francis,Mills ,Smith, coaching a number of top athletes not just a 1 off. So great athlete or great coaching? And if its great coaching where are the other 3 girls to make up the relay team you didnt have...............

    I don't see why the hurdles are so low compared to the men's. It's a full 10 inches!

    • @RhetoricalMuse
      @RhetoricalMuse 10 лет назад +5

      2 main reasons.
      1) Women are on average shorter than men.
      2) Women have less 'spring' and speed therefore can't coil and recoil as well as men do.
      A women's 100m hurdle race would be pretty boring at the slower speed with higher hurdles.

    • @Goodnewsglobal
      @Goodnewsglobal 10 лет назад

      I don't know about that. How about when the guy is just 5ft six and he has to get over 42 inch hurdles. Most female hurdlers would be over 5ft 8 inches I think.. :-)

    • @RhetoricalMuse
      @RhetoricalMuse 10 лет назад +1

      I don't know any male hurdling champions under 5ft11 tbh. Colin Jackson looked short, but he was almost 6ft!

      @rockytop1957 10 лет назад

      Daniel Gillen I'm 5'4" and a hurdler. I've raced girls smaller than me. Trust me, if we were to set the hurdles any higher, it'd be a disaster...lol.

    • @Goodnewsglobal
      @Goodnewsglobal 10 лет назад

      Cool. I'm only two inches taller than you though Gail and my hurdles are almost a full foot higher. That's nasty, if you ask me for the most part women are more limber than men as well. :-)

  • @nicholashoffman5964
    @nicholashoffman5964 11 лет назад

    False. First, read the 1995 UNESCO report indicating that there is no significance of "race" at the biological level. Second, she has 11 second flat open 100m speed, so she would also fair well in that race.

    Agreed, but that hairdo? Kinda old-fashioned. Maybe it would look better down. Anyway, tough loss for her. Lost her balance a bit in the 4th or 5th, and then really blew it in the 9th. That's the hurdles for ya. One tiny error and that's it for you, usually. Anyway, Pearson's form is impeccable--and she's incredibly fast. Great race!
