I'm surprised that he went that fast with this package. Only 4.3 mph off of last year's pole speed. This is probably the closest gap at a 1.5 mile between this year and last year's pole speed.
Also, I really like this version of single-car qualifying. It gives every driver a time to shine.

And that is why oval qualifying is done single car style like that. Bout time NASCAR did something right in terms of what we, as fans, wanna see.
